Miscellaneous TTC Discussion & Questions

Uhm, how about the 7/307 detour eh? No exact start date either, and a quick scour in the usual spots on the TTC website didn't yield any notice about it.

There is something I was wondering that since the TTC has an express modes (bus, subway), why there is none for streetcar counterparts? Although the TTC isn't willingly to introduce streetcar express service on QUEEN (901), KING (904), HARBOURFRONT (909) and SPADINA (910) since the tracks are single on each side.

Would that streetcar express concept also affect the 140s Downtown Express routes?

You answered your own question. You can't have express streetcars unless you have a second pair of tracks (and room to build them). And if you've got that kind of space, it would make far more sense to invest in building a right-of-way instead of express tracks for cars that will idle in traffic just as much as the local ones.

It won't affect the downtown express routes since there will never be an express streetcar network.

There's nothing express about the subway, they stop at every station.

I think they should separate the 7 at SCW during rush hour. It's going to be very unreliable with this detour.

---

The 145 fills the 901 role in the west end.

Dont worry, i'm sure that thought hasn't even crossed the minds of the people over at TTC management for the slightest second.

Don't forget Wilson Stn. as well. Perhaps a 504-style routing can work? For example - 7B (Bathurst Stn.-Wilson Stn.) and 7C (St. Clair West Stn.-Steeles) can operate during rush and midday; while the 7A (7) running from Bathurst Stn.-Steeles will run at other times.

Would I be right in saying that since the DDS50EGRs are gone, the Orion VII OG HEV 1000 is the oldest bus in the fleet (revenue) sence it was built in December 2005 as opposed to 7906 (7900-7905 are ES-0 - ES-5) now, even though they were delivered at the same time?

Does anyone recall the exact split of the 7500s between Eglinton and Arrow when they arrived? I currently have:

7400-75?? at Eglinton

75??-7699 at Arrow

7700-7809 at Eglinton

7810-7881 at Birchmount

I'm pretty sure 7692 belonged to Eglinton at that time. I know 7541 was at Arrow for a little while.

So they are all retired now? The OG retirement thread got closed in the sightings section for sillyness, but according to the wiki they're all retired...

Dang it, I missed a chance to take one last ride on friday on 12D but Instead I took 86 to Kennedy cuz the 12D was lagging behind.

This was the original split.

Thank you! I have updated the movement history page on the wiki with these splits.

What is the TTC's oldest revenue service bus now anyways? 1000 or 7906?

1000, because it was built in Dec. 2005 as opposed to early 2006 for 7906.

Also a suggestion to cancel the 33 service during this prolonged Detour, the 7 bus will be covering the entire route at this time, and would make the service redundant

Supposedly Metrolinx goofed on the Bathurst St closure plan and announced it without even securing a permit from the city - so at least for now, it won't be going forward. According to Josh Matlow, there will be some community consultations in January about how it will be moving forward.

Therefore we can expect the crosstown to be delayed. ML playing catch up and it's not even working as planned.

And what about service south of St. Clair? Perhaps the 90 VAUGHAN can be re-routed to Bathurst Stn. to replace the service south of St. Clair or extend the 511 to loop at St. Clair and Bathurst. The 7 can operate from St. Clair West to Steeles at all times.

Kind of has to do with the TTC, but can anyone provide me a photo of PVS 0103 in TTC Livery? https://cptdb.ca/wiki/index.php/Picture_Vehicle_Specialists

What movie was that in?

That is really odd, I know this is for the movies, but why would they have a TTC bus that looks nothing like a TTC bus? This paint job doesn't resemble a TTC bus in any previous livery.

If I saw that on a tv show or a movie I'd just laugh my ass off.

It’s a movie 99% of people won’t care, that’s why if you watch suits you’re going to see a bunch of streetcars roaming around and the producers know it doesn’t matter

I remember seeing a picture from Degrassi which the bus had a TTC Logo but it obviously was not a TTC bus.
