Ok, I confirm that Malvern does indeed have 57 Midland, its on the sign up board at Malvern for the May 7 Board Period. And for some Ops you can check division info.

22 is back with Bmount, even though Coxwell station is nowhere close to being completed.

70 is with Eglinton.

I wonder of these two routes will still interline, I didn't check the run guides.

Would this be the first time the TTC has thrown switches manually in revenue service?

As part of planned revenue service, I'm not sure. In the grand scheme of things, no, it's been done on an emergency basis before.

Last time Malvern had the 57 MIDLAND was 1996 to 2000 right? I noticed it was one of TTC's original accessible routes when they received the first batch of 1996 Orion Vs. Would @Bus_Medic also ratify this change as well?

To other historians here, did the 57 MIDLAND move to Malvern when it first opened in 1983? I think it moved back to Birchmount around the mid-1980s.

The route history over on Transit Toronto lists 57 Midland as moving from Birchmount to Malvern upon opening in July 1983, and moving back in the mid-1980s. It then moved back to Malvern in 1996, then to Danforth in 2000, then New Eglinton in 2002, and back to Birchmount in 2010.

Would it be correct to say only the 7400s were used on the 57 in 2005 and the 7700-7800s were not sent to 57 until 2010?

Looking at the service summaries from early 2005, 57 Midland was officially assigned Orion VII's at the time. Whether the occasional GM Fishbowl or Classic was dispatched (of which Eglinton  still had quite a few at the time), I don't know. Also according to the Jan 2005 service summary, there were 200 Orion VII's on property as of Nov. 22, 2004, of which the first 160 or so were assigned to Eglinton at the time, if I recall correctly. All 482 buses were on property by the end of 2005 and at that point, they were split as follows:

7400 - 7557? Eglinton

7558? - 7699 Arrow

7700-7809 Eglinton

7810 - 7881 Birchmount

(can't recall the exact point of split in the 75xx between Arrow and Eglinton, but the rest is correct for sure)

So the answer to your question would be no, since buses in the 75xx, 77xx and low 78xx ranges have definitely made it out on the 57 in 2005. The January 2010 board period was when the route was re-assigned from Eglinton to Birchmount.

I think some 79xx series operated on 57 in 2010 as well...

They probably did as Bmount got a few 7900's loans from Arrow before the 8100's came to Bmount. Queensway got a few 7900's loans shortly after that for the new 145 route at that time. Wilson had 7925-7979 till mid 2011. Then then 7925-2969 joined Arrow's first 25 and Queensway got the remaining 10. Those remaining 10 moved to Arrow sometime in 2012. Then 7900's mostly shifted to Queensway and became very common.

Thank you very much :). I had a feeling I rode on the 7700s on the 57 in 2005, but wasn't 100% sure. I can't remember encountering a fishbowl on that route, only the Orion VIIs.

Do you also happen to know how the 7500s were split by the end of 2004?

They were delivered to Eglinton up to the mid 7500's. I believe the highest number I saw on an Eglinton route was 7557, and then deliveries shifted to Arrow, but I am not positive that is precisely were the split occured. I'll defer this question to the bus enthusiasts on this forum.

This morning while riding the Milton line, I noticed a property between Dixie and Kipling stations, just west of Highway 427 that had an old GM Classic. Does anyone know of the property, and what the number and function of that bus is these days?

Heard a few legacy streetcar units this evening using an updated version of the external announcements. Instead of "Five-hundred-four... Dundas West Station via King," I heard "Five-oh-four ...Dundas West Station via King."

Also the Downsview moniker this week was removed from the overhead lighting. But the wall, last I checked, still had it for now.

I would attach pictures, but the "choose files" link doesn't send the nudge to my phone to open my selector to choose files.

EDIT: after all that typing I found a temporary work-around.

Yesterday, I was driving on the 400 near Young. I saw ex-TTC Orion V 9424 with no TTC logos but everything else. Sorry, but I wasn't able to get photos. Does anyone know if the bus has been bought by anyone? It was sitting in the back lot of a company's building. It is clearly visible from the highway. I know that bus was donated to a school in july 2016, but I don't know if they still own it. They back destination sign has been blocked off with black and now rusted metal.

Thanks.

P.S. Here's a link to a video that someone caught of this bus just lying around in a school parking lot.

Also, does anyone know the last time that the 424 old orchard grove bust station was used?

It's called Roe Loop and it hasn't been used for regular service since the 61 Roe Loop branch was eliminated and all 61 service was extended to Highway 401 at all times back in 2004. The odd 61 and 142 short turn use it these days, there is even a short turn sign for them to use indicating they turn around at Roe Loop.

Can someone remind me now, back in the early/mid 2000s did Eglitnon (Comstock) operate 61 at all times or was it only during the weekend evening interline with 51?

The loop was historically where the trolleybus wire on Avenue Road ended and was designed to allow an easy transfer between the Nortown trolleybus and the Armour Heights bus. It's main reason for existence ended in 1992 but is still used for short turns (either scheduled or not).

More specifically, it was where the old Zone 1 fare zone ended - that's why the loop was specifically located there, and not, say, another 6 blocks north at Wilson Ave.

It was removed from the overhead a few weeks ago. As for the walls, it's sandblasted into the tile so short of removing the tiles, it'll always be there. More than likely they'll just do a Sheppard-Yonge treatment overnight when the rename happens and put up new metal signs over it.

Where the name will likely linger is on the 'Northbound to Downsview' signs at every station on the University/Spadina corridors, at least until the extension opens.
