I see; thanks.

But seeing as how they normally non rush uses 1 bus and I always see a VII on 125 kind of eliminates the chance of a V on those routes. In fact, I see Vs on 6 more than those routes.

Any ideas besides 29, where a V usually show up or totally random as shambala said?

14 Glencairn seems to have VIIs on it more than Vs. Most of them time when I ride 14 during rush hour only one of the buses is a V while the other two are VIIs. When I ride it during Midday the bus us usually a VII.

Oh come on now,.... the 29 is more frequent than that! :P:rolleyes:

29 is unreliable at times, I waited about 20 minutes at Wilson Station for a 29 on Christmas Eve at about 2:00pm when it was suppose to be Rush Hour service.

From my 1 experience on 29 (riding north from CNE to Wilson Stn with Calvin), the service was obviously eratic at best. Even with the extra service for the CNE, our bus got crushed far before Bloor (and there were maybe 5 people leaving the CNE) and even more crushed north of there. Watching the southbound lanes (for sightings), sometimes buses would come in packs, and there were obvious gaps, with the next 2-3 even 4 buses being crushed. It was a pretty bad mess. Our bus was passed by another VII on 29C at Queen, and we played leapfrog with another V behind us from maybe Lawrence all the way north to Wilson Stn.

Also, I was at a shop on Tycos Dr. on a Saturday, and in about an hour there had been 4 buses that passed. 29A only runs during peak, so there were 4 buses (2 packs of 2 each).

So yeah, it's bad. That's the reason why it's the first bus route to have its CIS data analyzed by Steve Munro.

I've never had a problem with it, although I do only ride from one end to the other, LOL!

Salt and water get in there and erode things, causing them to commonly malfunction. The push bar doesn't really suffer the issue as much, as it isn't on the floor where all that stuff pools around. I kind of miss the step down, to be honest. The push bar can be incredibly confusing and doesn't seem to work often (at least that I notice).

Manufacture who builds the treadle is costing too much for TTC to get.

That's the 29 for you. I've been on it three times, and it was like that all the time. From what I understand from my friend who lives on Dufferin (the road), this is how it always is: busses in clumps.

I would say the 7 gets clumps more than 29; Bathurst is crazy in terms of reliablilty.

More random questions instead of starting a new thread!

Which of the bottom two routes would be faster during midday weekdays.

I will start from Downsview Park and go to UTSC.

1) 84 to Sheppard Yonge OR 106/108 to Downsview & 84/196 to Sheppard Yonge > Sheppard Subway to Don Mills Stn > 190 > 38

2) 84 to Sheppard Yonge OR 106/108 to Downsview & 84/196 to Sheppard Yonge > Yonge Subway To York Mills Stn > 95/95B

Also, I assume there won't be significant difference between Downsview Pk and Sheppard Yonge Station depending on which of the 4 routes I take (84, 106, 108, 196)? Just take the first bus that comes in that section?

I would go with option 2 since there are less connections you have to make which would reduce the amount of time your waiting for a bus/train.

There would be a little difference between 196B and 84, 196B is faster than 84 both ways.

a little of the factor you mentioned, a little of Wonka's.

Gee, is there anymore info about it? Ottawa did ordered with their V and VI and today no one is making it.

Is 29 the only official HF accessible route out of Wilson?

Otherwise, where else can I gaurantee to find a 96 V from Wilson?

Wilson often puts at least a few V's on the 32 on weekdays.

Not as much as the VIIs though and it is mainly during Rush Hour I find. There was a time, from mid October until late November I believe, where I did not see any 9400 on 32 when I was in the area which was very often.

For Classics I'm wondering too, because I would like one last ride on one. D40/88-89's are still being used seven days a week on Queensway's non-accessible routes. The best place to look for them is Royal York Stn., where with the exception of V's is all D40-88/89's.

Oh this is good news. I thought they ran only on weekdays. This Saturday i'm going out for sure!! Routes 168, 77 and 71 Are good routes too, right? I here they get a good amount.

83 is like your only chance for Classics. Greenwood is mainly V's these days.

This question is pretty old so I don't know how many of you remembers this:

What was the first bus to go through the rebuild to get the new/current paint scheme in 1995? I know it's either a Newlook, D40-88/89, or 90 Orion V CNG.

Are the above 3 series of buses all received rebuild around the same time and also the new livery?

Prior to the first rebuild with new livery, were there any non rebuild buses that received the new livery?

77 has VIIs on it on Saturday Morning and Afternoon and also on Sunday Afternoon since that it when it interlines with 79. 168 is a great route for D40s, I've noticed that D40s are mainly assigned to it. You should also go to Royal York Station, any of the four routes there, 15, 48, 73 and 76, will have D40s on them.

Really, every time I look down Danforth towards Greenwood on school days I see a Classic on 31, like today.

Today I saw 665X and another, I think a VII. I didn't see the third bus this evening.

I remember seeing/riding 8942 and 8960 when they got rebuilt in 1995. I believe they were the first ones.

According to one of the TTS newsletter, 8942 was the first one and it became a Santa bus in 1995 at Kennedy station.

8960 and 8770 were the next, all these 3 buses had smaller fleet # on the front.

What exactly is a "Santa" bus?

Oh and one more question: how often does the TTC wash their vehicles? I saw a bunch of really clean New Looks on the 95 today and a whole lot of Hybrids at STC.

santa buses are the ones that collect toys for charity/food banks.

buses are washed nightly, unless something like a large snowstorm is forecast for the next day and the salt will cover them in the first 5 minutes anyhow, and they're not that soiled to start with.

as to why they were still clean during the day today i don't know, i had a sinus cold today and called in sick.

sometimes training instructors will have new mechaincs and service people drive through the wash rack as a lesson.

Someone remind me if TTC set a deadline for the ongoing debate on the artic order with NFI? When will we know for sure if the deal fell through?

When the TTC announces that the 2010 order will consist of Orion VII NGs.

Other than that, there's no specific deadline that I'm aware of. However, New Flyer has ~2 year leadtime, so if a deal isn't worked out by December, expect no artics for 2010.

Does anyone here really beleive NFI has any chance with TTC? Did'nt think so. When did the feud between these two start and over what?
