They've done another round of reprogramming on the Flexity signs. Examples.

Old: 504 KING / DUNDAS WEST STN / via KING

New: 504 KING / TO DUNDAS WEST / STATION

Old: 510 SPADINA / > LESLIE & QUEEN / via KING

New: 510 SPADINA / TO LESLIE / and QUEEN / via KING

I really don't know what the TTC is thinking. Can't they try to keep things on one line?

I highly doubt anyone is going to wait for a 510 to Leslie Barns. Can't they just create a "504 to Leslie Barns" sign and use it when the 510 reach King. Sure they can include an announcement on board that indicates the car will head back to the yard.

A question about bus movements: since the unrebuilt VII NG HEVs at Malvern will retire as they suffer major failures, which buses will be replacing them at Malvern?

I'm assuming Arrow Road 84-86xx LFSes as the 31-33xx LFSes are arriving.

Wilson's hybrids.  I guess right now are those hybrids without the new vision systems.

Spent two days at the Ex recently, noticed that some of the streetcars are using pantographs, and some still use the old pole style. What determines using which? The Flexitys I've seen are equipped with both.

511 streetcars use poles as the route is not yet compatible for the hybrid pole-pantograph system and 509 streetcars uses pantographs.

This year for Nuit Blanche, they are offering free service all night for Line 3.

How will they block off people taking this from the connecting bus services at STC, Lawrence East Stn and Kennedy Stn?

For buses, I assume they will ask drivers to check fares upon boarding at these stations. But what about the Line 2 at Kennedy?

Probably offering service since there’s gonna be exhibits at STC.

I thought the TTC doesn’t want King Street closure during the TIFF, and why the city is keep approving those closures? It impacts a lot of commuters using the busiest streetcar on the system..

It is even worse this year with another day added.. (Usually it was Thursday to Sunday, and now it is Thursday to Monday)

If this kind of stupid closure is happening, why doesn’t the city cancel the pilot project? It was meant to make King Street in downtown more transit friendly, and the closure is definitely acting like a knife to that

Cancel a year long transit pilot because of a 5 day event? We should get you into transit planning ASAP.

Relax bud, people will survive. They always do.

Have they fixed the problem on the 504/505 exposures to Broadview Station where it would only show "to Broadview" before scrolling to "STN via King/via Dundas"?

This could confuse people into thinking it's short-turning.

No they haven't. It's split across 2 lines. I think it's even worse...

Old: 504 KING: BROADVIEW STN / via KING

New: 504 KING: TO BROADVIEW / STATION

The 504 yard sign used to be all on one line but now it's split up like the others.

Old: 504 KING: >LESLIE & QUEEN

New: 504 KING: TO LESLIE / and QUEEN

He's got a point though. The TTC - as well as many other people, frankly - have said that it seems silly to make the users of one of the most major transit corridors in the City suffer just because of a festival that refuses to be planned out better.

And despite the City last year saying that they will make changes for this year to improve things, well, it really doesn't look like they have. Transit service will be be diverting once again.

Maybe John Tory is having a secret affair with any of the Tiff officials

Dan

He is brother to the Chair of TIFF, Jennifer Tory.

https://www.tiff.net/about/

my suspicion is that Tory said things would be different this year because if he didn't, motions may have been put down at Council seeking to forbid Transportation from agreeing to close King, which he would have had to expend political capital to defeat.

Not to sound alarmist, I’m no fan of the ATU, but track and signal, infrastructure maintenance could be potentially privatized. Like GO’s arrangement.

It’s a little bit of a leap for someone like PNR railworks to take the whole enchilada, but all it would take is partial contract to set a precedent.

I'm not too concerned about Queen's Park taking over maintenance but I am very concerned about they controlling new extensions. Doug Ford can potentially ignore the TTC and Toronto as a whole and build extensions to serve 905 region without any relief to the 416 region. Also who will pay for the operation when they turn the subway into a major white elephant. Basically they can build the Sheppard and Yonge subway extensions instead of the relief line or waterfront east LRT and let TTC figure out how they'll operate it. DoFo can ignorantly claim TTC is making enough money to fund those extensions.

Right now there are concerns that he'll just stick a casino in Ontario Place without any support from Toronto Council. Maybe the monorail idea would pop up again.
