YRT/Viva New Vehicle Deliveries

Recommended Posts

So why the shift from new flyer?

These buses are part of the Metrolinx consortium order, which was won by Nova Bus this time around. It's the same reason why systems such as Burlington, Oakville, St. Catharines, and Welland are getting Novas for the first time ever this year.

1507 is on 91 today.

1511 and above will be southwest bus as far as i know. But many things changed up to date so let's see till last mineute.

Also want to note that As per YRT facebook yrt ordered two more buses in last mineute so it could be 18 buses instead of 16.

I'm just curious why YRT didn't go for the LFX-style rimless windows like they did on Viva's LFXs.

Regarding the fleet number location, it is also possible to put the fleet number on the top center of the windshield, much like the LFS in RTC Quebec, where it is free of the wipers. http://www.cptdb.ca/wiki/images/e/e6/Réseau_de_transport_de_la_Capitale_1502-a.jpg

Rimless windows I presume are an expensive option

It's probably why it was exercised for the xcelsior order as well

Then again yrt to them can't be as premium looking as viva

Yeah... only thing yrt added is rear window i guess

There's also the small window by the rear door and Thermo King HVAC unit (Standard is Carrier).

that window does strike as a little odd because its frameless unlike the other ones. (im sure they couldve gotten it to match the others) could it be that they changed to framed windows mid production or they took another order that had it?

1510 entered into service on route 4 today.

Doesn't appear to be any of SW's V's out today, all 5 of those 1500's entering service in the past 2 days probably does not bode well for their future:)

Were the 1500's only retiring the 200's, or were there plans for them to take out the 300 V's too?

Miller needs a couple of expansion buses for the extra 303 trips that got added in this month. Don't forget as well at this time next year, the 320 and 390 will be in service, and YRT will have completely taken over the Woodbine corridor.
