nfitz
Can you? I couldn't see them today - they didn't seem to be attached to a route. Wouldn't they be out-of-service?
IRT_BMT_IND
A random question, but what is the purpose of a section insulator? To insulate different parts of the overhead from another. It allows the TTC to only turn off the power in parts of the overhead rather than the whole system.
TTCOpITM
This is an excellent example of how internet rumors start and people people believe them. 4417 was unloaded yesterday. I don't necessarily believe that it's true, nor was I stating a fact. I just wanted to put it out there to see what others have to say about it. I think I remember reading here a little while back that 4417 was pretty much finished and that it just needed its trucks to be installed, so I kind of suspected that it would be here soon. TTC1700
I'd quite like to photograph that. When they say it will be on 277 Queen, does that mean it will be parked on McCaul? Somehow I can't magine it will be blocking traffic on Queen They loop between Wolseley Loop and McCaul Loop, with 277 Queen being the pickup point. 4213 is currently the only car as 4249 is being unwrapped as we speak. ttc4213_snkrsxpress_DSC03248 by G.Viloria Photography | TTC1700s Transport Media, on Flickr

soo8513
So 4417 is here. I presume 4402, 4418, 4419 are in the pipeline and may arrive in next one to three weeks ??
nfitz
Last week, elsewhere, someone with "inside info" said that 4418 was scheduled to ship today - but that was subject to change. I have no idea of the veracity of the info, but they sounded genuine.

Can you share any info as to status of 4402? Today is the first day that both 4402 and 4417 are showing up on this tracker: http://ttca.sammdot.ca/ttc-track-multi.html?4400-4455 4402 in Aurora and 4417 near Lake Simcoe (obviously the GPS's on both are out of whack, but the fact that they are trackable nonetheless makes me believe that they both have been delivered to the TTC). TTCOpITM
had to say quite, the inexperienced, I was on one of them and everyone in my car experienced motion sickness when we got off It may not necessarily be because the operator is junior. Some Alrvs are naturally very jerky (when the brakes are applied and released).
Witenite
im not questioning the operator's driving, im just curious more of how they got picked to drive it, thats all
MT0603
im not questioning the operator's driving, im just curious more of how they got picked to drive it, thats allDrivers don't get picked to drive certain vehicles, rather they are assigned whatever is at the front of the service line by the allocator. It's nothing more than luck of the draw as vehicles can be anywhere in the service line at the garage/yard.

Shaun
Does it actually run along Queen W? I saw it short turn at the loop on Bathurst north of Queen.

exvanpegger
had to say quite, the inexperienced, I was on one of them and everyone in my car experienced motion sickness when we got off I'd say thats more likely due to the lack of windows inside. Your brain is having much more difficulty processing and anticipating movement when you've got no visual frame of reference. Its like travelling in the back of a box truck. T3G
Apparently there are ALRVs on the 509 this weekend. I saw 4216 IIRC last night at Fleet and 4214, 4224 and 4244 appear to be out today according to the Sammdot tracker. Is this going to be a regular thing, or is it just because of the NBA thing this weekend?

ttc rider
Today was the first day with 14 of the new streetcars in service concurrently during daytime: 2 on rte. 509 (4407 & 4412), 12 on rte. 510 (all the others, up to and including 4416, except 4413 which was missing).
