Xtrazsteve
Sat Nov 29, 8:40 PM Nextbus shows 4404 in service on 501 Queen -print screen is attached. Erroneous feed info or real data? 4404.jpg It's still on nextbus. You'll have to sight it to know. I believe they are just testing the communication by purposely by signing in with a run number on TRUMP. That's why it's listed on nextbus. It is on the 1 run, same run as 4235. Signed in doesn't mean it's in service. They can still display NOT IN SERVICE on the design sign.

That's why it's listed on nextbus. Yup, that appears to be the case. I actually followed it on the map as it left Humber Loop: it took a roundabout route, east on Queensway, east on Queen, north on McCaul, east on Dundas, south on Victoria, east on Queen, north on Broadview, then back west on Dundas, south on Parliament, west on Queen, then back on the same route (via Victoria and McCaul) to Roncesvalles carhouse. It is shown sitting in the yard at the moment.
ttcgeek
Sat Nov 29, 8:40 PM Nextbus shows 4404 in service on 501 Queen -print screen is attached. Erroneous feed info or real data? 4404.jpg It was legit, saw it going across Queen eastbound with a 501 short turn sign. Obviously it wasn't really in service. Speaking of which, if anyone want a reason to go foaming today, it's currently on Spadina.

drum118
With the 3 cars on line now, how bad will line management be not to run all 3 cars is a row like they do for the first 2. Seen both cars following each other either of Spadina or QQ. Saw a photo a day or so with both cars going west on QQ with a CLRV between them and hope it was a 509. If 510, where is line management?? Where is management to allow both cars play follow the leader in the first place?? Doesn't help accessibility riders who have to wait an hour for a car to show up when running in two's. skyfirenet
where is line management?? Probably having a smoke with Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster. Seriously, line management for surface routes has always been a problem for the TTC.
leylandvictory2
4404 is in service today and so is the 4400. 4403 is probably in the car house for routine maintainence. Line management can be difficult as operators can override the supervisor's request for short turn such as the vehicle is fully loaded, or it is the operator's relief trip (just to name a few). Seriously, line management for surface routes has always been a problem for the TTC. Line management is practically non-existent with the TTC. We're always asking for additional funds from X and Y, but we can't properly manage what we have.

leylandvictory2
Yes, let's increase short turns. the city need to work on the traffic light sequences. Some of them are the root cause for extra delays for no reason. Ionview is a notable example. It will hold the traffic on Eglinton at least 30 seconds regardless. The one right outside of the Don Mills station is another one. The traffic lights lets Northbound traffic proceed before Southbound. As a result, the 25 Don Mills can't take the advantage of the left turn priority signal.
ttc rider
To be fair to the TTC, with the transit priority signals all screwed up on 509 Harbourfront and 510 Spadina, managing these routes is not easy, since the schedule is so tight it is virtually impossible to stick to it. To add to the mess, there are only two "short-turn" locations for each of 509 and 510, so irregular service is inevitable. But in keeping with TTC "culture", as long as operators begin and end their shifts more or less "on time", I would assume both routes are being managed on headway. Here's a current nextbus printout for 510 Spadina (on a Sunday evening!) Clearly, the schedule is complete fiction, which is probably why they are adding more running time beginning with the January board period. Xtrazsteve
Yes, let's increase short turns. Or give every route more time. The 52G in evenings is a good example. No extra time, congestion on Lawrence is gone by then but at least one bus would be constantly 15 minute late leaving a 30 minute gap. I swear this happens every single weekend evening. I filed a complaint about it two months ago. Then they started short turning EB at Keele. When the 52A/B is late, it create extra loads for the 52G causing it to be late. This is a classical TTC problem with multiple branches on a route.
skyfirenet
Line management is practically non-existent with the TTC. Hence the Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster quip. Or give every route more time. Or just ditch schedules entirely and focus on vehicle spacing and frequency. People would be a lot more forgiving if you could guarantee a vehicle within a maximum allotted amount of time rather than never having one arrive when you say there should be one. Shaun
That is especially true for longer routes. With lower frequencies. If you short turn a bus and it doesn't reach the end of the line those passengers have to wait twice as long for a bus.

If you short turn a bus and it doesn't reach the end of the line those passengers have to wait twice as long for a bus. Twice as long? It's pretty routine to find 20-minute or longer gaps on 506 near Main Station on a Sunday despite a 6-minute schedule, with all the vehicles short-turned at Parliament, Broadview, and Coxwell, to get them back to an impossibly short run time.
