YRT Retirements

Recommended Posts

Sad, I guess.

I was one of the guys (still an apprentice at the time) who PDI'd those buses.

Factory training from Orion and everything.

Still in too good shape to scrap yet, I think. Hopefully they wind up somewhere.

I think they would auction them off depending on the condition they are in. I've seen a few YRT units in the past being auctioned off.

I spotted it training at Finch Terminal on the 19th of October.

Weird, that thing hadn't show up with the others on YRT's real time map since around September, then they use it for a bit and then retire it.

For all the "Southwest's are all retired!" crowd that had been commenting, they clearly haven't been following things. 226, 227, 228, 229 and 307, 308, 309 were all running regularly for the last two months (226 was on the 87 this AM, 309 the 12, missed the others). 225 and 310 have been MIA, someone reported on another group 310 had been awaiting parts or something, with 225 parked possibly missing parts.

7, 12, 13, 23, 26, 87 and the 46x school specials are still the routes to watch for them on, while they're still active. 2-3 times in the last little while they've popped up on the 21 too.

310's definitely retired, as confirmed by cmc12 above.

In Southeast's side, 302 has been parked for a few months now. Not officially retired yet, but Miller right now has enough buses to cover service during rush hour.

If you're looking for your last shots of these things (presumably for PM rush), aim for the earlier express trips from Finch. Either the 4:00 303 or 304 (or both) tends to have one, followed by any of the following: 4:45 304, 4:48 303, 4:55 300 (from Clegg), 5:00 303, 5:10 300 (from Commerce Valley), 5:25 300 (from Clegg), 5:45 301, 6:05 303, or 6:15 302.

Only active units at Southwest are 226, 227, 308, & 309. 228 was pulled over the weekend & 307 will probably not see revenue service again. 225 & 229 were parked mid-October.

7, 23, 26, & 28 are your best bets.

28 Huntington? Surely you mean 87, at least one has been a staple on there almost daily (like 308 this PM), with often a "bases loaded" scenario where all three R/H runs are V's.

Bit early...I don't recall any serious collisions or whatnot. What happened, fell off a hoist?

I believe it was supposed to be refurbished at MTB but it was abandoned after it was stripped down. I guess it wasn't worth the cost of rebuilding that piece of crap.

622 was the fire bus

622 was the only one to retire from fire. I've heard of other ElDorados having more minor fires.

Here's a photo of 563 sitting at MTB all stripped back in May 2014. It was towed back to Miller in the same condition later that year.

  • 1 year later...

Articulated reported in other thread that 303-306, 308 are retired.

Only remaining units are 307 and 309.

However someone told me that saw 308 running, however it's not that sure, so that vehicle I ll check it next week.

Meanwhile 554 is also reported early-retirement due to accident.
