Well I still see tons of canceled trips, with artics getting stuck or having issues in certain places.

Doesn't change the fact it's still fall schedules right now.

on another note, I finally drove down the transitway and saw the new Lincoln ramp off Carling.. I predict many many jackknifed buses, that curve makes no sense even in rain you’ll be sliding

Which part of the ramp do you foresee issues?

Very tail end on the hook to rejoin to the transitway, the incline and curve will likely cause issues when braking and trying to navigate. However I have high hopes it’s a high priority to plow and salt. Iris turn already caused some issues the last icy day we had a few weeks back. I’m curious to see how it handles today

Question?

When do they start turning on the Heat in the Shelters? The one at Billings Upper level heading towards Hurdman does work? The light light isn't turned on?

Also what bus goes by Independence/Loblaws on Main Street in Stittsville? Have a doctors appointment this week. Why the frack she moved all the way out there, I don't know, was so is where she was before?

Ambient room temperature must meet -5°C or lower. Last couple of days it's been minus -3°C with the wind chill of minus 10 or so (depending on time of day/night), so the heater still won't turn on. That or it is broken which would be a literal metaphor of the transit system in a nutshell - doesn't work when you need it.

61 Stittsville. You'll love all the convoluted detours the 61 has to take with the Western transitway being closed.

I saw the ramp passing by and I kind of agree with you. That being said, did you hear anything that went wrong with it?

Wrong with the construction? No but many have raised concerns about jackknifing and sliding. It is high priority for salt and plows so hopefully it’s smooth sailing, at most it will be 5 or so bad days this year. I hope

I wonder which format they'll use this time? When it first started it was in a small pamphlet form, then switch to a small paper form. Collected all of them when they first came out.

So when will the first addition be printed & available? or will it be web based only?

"Circuits" is coming back after being discontinued officially since 2000 (but abandoned in May 1998). They call it "The Next Stop Blog" but it's just gonna be another modern day Circuits newspaper.

its a great initiative, with OC lacking in transparency for things such as cancellations and delays (which is a struggle when there is so many.) this is the perfect way to grab and entice younger riders while also improving customer relations. People of course want their bus to show up but people love feeling involved in the inner workings and struggles an agency goes through.

My only problem is it will be thoroughly curated by many parts of the OC/city bureaucracy where they will oversimplify and dumb down what they are actually telling the people to avoid pointing fingers at the root cause of many problems which is the politicians letting OC die and dry out.

Imagine a blog post trying to explain why they are removing 120ish buses from service indefinitely if the draft budget passes, and why their Saturday night Route 82 will only operate hourly after 8:00 p.m as a result...

They're not gonna say "due to councils budget cuts on Transit, _____". Just look on OC Transpos website if it's still up. They just have a general post about getting to budget consultations when curiously, they mention absolutely nothing about what the budget means for OC transit itself, which in the context of it being a Transit website, I think it needs to communicate the sense of attention needed and why they should attend it, but alas, the budget is just bona fide BS for OC and "politics isn't allowed", so they'll post the most bland info they can about consultations and will just end up taking the beating from the public when the cuts come in,  while the council gets off scott free because their electorate was promised a 25:1 investment on car dependent infrastructure versus Transit, walking, cycling, etc because Municipal Council has convinced them that you must have a car to do anything.

Are you talking about the 117 buses being retired?

I believe they are, the purpose of those retirements which has been stated before is due to sheer extra costs it takes to maintain them. It’s a worthless endeavour. When a bus is a maintenance burden such as the 8000s and non refurbished Inveros it takes away resources to fix a perfectly good Nova or 60ft that needs a quick fix.

Tons of buses are sidelined that require at most 2 hours of labour simply because a technician is stuck with a bus on a hoist for 8+ hours.

Over/Under 50 routes cut?

I suspect the the 200's to be scrapped(once stage 2 opens-31 routes)and probably some routes cut &  combined, as to which ones I don't  know.

Means longer wait times, more transfers, and longer travel times.

I'll predict some stuff. I think the 138 and 237 will be merged. So the current routing down Voyageur, Vineyard and Bilberry is taken over by the 138. I find it quite ridiculous that such a large chunk of Orleans has no bus service on off-peak hours. As well as the 38 becoming a frequent route, although that's probably less likely to happen

that change would be welcomed and should of been done ages ago. with the current running time of the 138 you could include the entirety of the 237 without even adding run time.

There was a Bus crash early this morning on Heron Road & Data Center.

The accident occurred about 4:50 AM

CBC

CTV

https://ottawa.ctvnews.ca/four-people-hurt-in-crash-involving-oc-transpo-bus-1.6365254

OC TRANSPO Fleer # 4666 it was Route 88 Hurdman. I was waiting for that bus at Billings at that time. I knew there was a bus crash as the bus didn't show up and several OC Security cars went whipping by as you could hear several sirens in the night air, fire, police, ambulances, and OC security cars.

I hope everyone in the crash gets better.

OC Transpo is discontinuing the use of OC Transpo Live and rebranding it as OC Transpo Helps. Major service alerts such as Confederation LIne disruptions will still be posted, but automated tweets such as trip cancellations will not be posted on Twitter. Instead redirecting to alternative channels such as MyAlerts which requires registration, but will send out an email and/or text message alert depending on what is selected.

Final comments:

I don't blame any transit agency for discontinuing the use of service alerts via Twitter because of how they want to charge access for the API (application programming interface) and sending out automated tweets. Especially if someone has to write out the tweet manually, it takes a lot more time and a longer process to handle depending on their setup.

New York City's MTA also discontinued posting bus and train alerts via Twitter recently due to API changes and fees.
