Waiting for 30 Minutes
Pass a referendum??? I think I'd die from shock if the it was turned down. It says universal, I assume that means any bus with out extra money/tickets? uOttawa and Carleton University will be holding a referendum in about two weeks, so mid-February. CorSter
Here's hoping the Upass gets voted down at both schools. If a Student wants to ride the bus, let them buy their own pass - the rest of the students don't need to subsidize them.
JCL
These stickers are appearing on a number of buses recently... What you are seeing is as a result of this report last November - http://www.ottawa.ca/calendar/ottawa/cityc...y%20Seating.htm EDIT - There will be a media event for the Cooperative Seating - http://ottawa.ca/cgi-bin/pressco.pl?&E...848〈=en Here's hoping the Upass gets voted down at both schools. If a Student wants to ride the bus, let them buy their own pass - the rest of the students don't need to subsidize them. I believe the referendum will pass. The student associations of both universities have been lobbying the City and OC Transpo for a long time for a U-Pass. My understanding that other cities also have U-Pass program, where the tuition pays for a pass (whether you use it or not).

I highly doubt that'll happen. I'm going to vote yes on the 11th, and I hope both schools will pass it. A huge number of Carleton and uOttawa students live off campus and use the bus to commute, so it would be a huge help. Carleton has been putting on a massive campaign to get the u-pass passed. I'm not sure about uOttawa, but I'm sure it's about the same.

jlarocque2005
The Cooperative seating campaign has begun The sticker dipics a person offering there seat to a senior,Person with a guide dog ect ( Similar to what the stm has on there bus/metro ) also theres a long blue sticker that dipics the Eligible persons that may use the seating and the current bylaw number re Priority Seating. i dont think theres a need to keep track of what buses that has the new sticker. But for those who haven't seen it 6351 is the first artic i've seen the new stickers on.

Ottawa Citizen Ken Gray obtained an internal memo - http://communities.canada.com/ottawacitize...om-service.aspx That would explain the 2 40" I saw on the 12 in the last half hour!!! Does anyone else think that both the build of the buses suppled to OC and also the maintenance standards at OC are in serious need of investigation as soon as possible? JCL
Does anyone else think that both the build of the buses suppled to OC and also the maintenance standards at OC are in serious need of investigation as soon as possible? I know that the City has pursued legal action against New Flyer, but that I think that has been dropped as a result of New Flyer opening a servicing facility in the Ottawa area and have the buses fixed at no cost. (Source: http://www.ottawa.ca/calendar/ottawa/cityc...CS-TRA-0020.htm and http://www.newswire.ca/en/releases/archive...9/17/c4377.html ) As for an investigation of OC Transpo, you'll probably hear more about this in the coming weeks. There are three motions by Councillors relating to OC Transpo that is to be debated on February 24.
