Photo's look great! Though I hope OC still goes with a diesel variant since come winter the battery won't last as long since the flow of electrons will be reduced *due to cold temperatures*, not to mention the battery is a reason as to why we're retiring the hybrids after 10 years. Of course, that's just my opinion.

We've got 82 diesel Novas on the way for next year. This is just looking at something for the future (hopefully we'll have a fully electric system of buses and trains eventually. Plus this these buses by Nova, they can recharge in like 5 or so minutes (at least that's what Nova claims)).

Also quick question, does anyone know when Local Routes stopped extending to downtown during Peak periods? For example obviously Routes 152, 172, 178, etc. used to extend the downtown during Peak periods, eventually they just stopped showing that Routes extended to downtown during Peak periods on their maps and nowadays if you look on their website, you'll notice for Route 82 that three trips between six and eight extend to Laurier station as Route 91. *Before it used to be Route 95*

Does anyone have a definite date?

Well, they’ve been leaving the hybrids out in an old garage with no proper temperature control for them.

If they want to go hybrid or electric, they should at least build a proper new garage (with enough clearance for the buses they are putting in, industrial ;) )

I checked my old maps and it doesn't look as if there was a definite date, as it was more of a gradual process.  From what I can tell, OC Transpo started cutting the local routes back to the suburbs in 2004, when the east-end local routes stopped beginning at Lebreton Station in the afternoon.  The routes slowly disappeared from Albert and Slater Streets until 2009, after which only route 176 continued through downtown to Hurdman Station.  This continued until June 2018, after the 176 had been renumbered as route 80.

Quote

Fall Service Changes - 2004:

Congestion on Slater Street in the afternoon rush hour has increased steadily in recent years – last winter bus delays and slowdowns were frequent. This affected customers waiting for buses in the downtown area, and had a major impact on the reliability of the entire transit system.

Some of the problems were created because there were simply too many buses on Slater Street which could not handle the capacity in the afternoon peak period.

In September several changes will be introduced to speed up service and improve schedule reliability by reducing the number of buses operating on Slater Street in the afternoon.

The busiest bus routes and trips will not be adjusted – but routes that carry fewer passengers per trip will no longer serve the downtown core in the afternoon. These routes will start their PM homebound trips at Hurdman Station:

Routes:    124    126    140    148    149

To catch these bus routes, take any other bus on Slater Street to Hurdman Station where you can make your transfer. All Slater Street buses travel to Hurdman, so there is a wide choice of routes and a high frequency of service. Note that green Express routes require Express Fare.

Morning peak period service to downtown will not be changed – the above routes will continue to travel to Albert Street and LeBreton in the morning.

Not liking the fact that they're changing Orleans routes to always serve Montreal eastbound on all trips, are people too stupid to press the "request stop" button at that stop?

There is probably better reasoning.

- Possible unsafe merges from bus lane into traffic during rush hour.

- readjustment to traffic signals so buses have priority and can avoid the bottleneck.

- makes sense for buses to remain in the same lane.

- button is broken and there is no budget for fixing it.

The last one seems like the only valid possibility since buses have been fine since the begginging of buses driving in Ottawa (in addition to the fact that this change does not apply to routes in the 220's and 230's)

yes, because there is no such thing as emails to your councillor complaining about buses or management making great decisions....

I'm trying to figure out what the detour is here - the only access to the Transitway between Smyth and Lycee Claudel is via the Hospital link, and the ramps to that are only accessible from the east. It doesn't seem like they're using Alta Vista from Industrial based on the stops that are removed, perhaps they are taking Riverside to Smyth, and then back up Alta Vista to the Hospital Link?

If you go to the webpage they have a table where you can see individual detour maps for all the bus routes. All busses using the SE Transitway will be using Alta Vista to the Hospital Link.

Canada Post labour disruption could delay Presto card delivery

Rotating strikes have begun at Canada Post. This could delay delivery of Presto cards ordered online or by phone. Go to prestocard.ca for more details. To avoid delays, buy your card at a Customer Service Centre (Lincoln Fields, Place d’Orléans, Rideau Centre and St-Laurent), at a participating retailer or from a ticket machine. Use our sales locations map to find a Presto vendor near you. »

Quoting me would have been nice of you two. I'll be sure to better choose what goes on here, however the rack and roll news DOES belong here.

We are getting nova buses in January.

The image depicting the Nova bus said Q1, meaning between January - March (which you should know), unless there was a memo stating January instead of any other possible month in Q1. Either way, can't wait!

Another user previously mentioned that the plan was to have 7, although that probably changed since the sheet we've seen says 9, delivered in January (so they'd likely enter service between January and March i.e. Q1).

Keeping in mind the original order was for 80 buses, and that was later increased to 82, I guess that confirms the extra two will be part of the first batch.
