And wouldnt fleet numbers be handed out for the year the buses were scheduled to ARRIVE, not the year they were ordered? I know the BT novas were ordered in 2005, but are numbered in the 06xx.

It was a 3 year contract.

I didnt know that being a pusher or puller artic made a diff to the tranny. Oh well, i guess its gonna be Allison or ZF tranny then.

If were not getting Voith were getting Alison B500R, MT's mechanics are trained to repair that tranny unlike any ZF trannys, except for the HP500.

The fleet manager is strictly buying Voith, unless something happens that can't be made.

MT likes Voith that much eh? Good!! :) Their trannys are wicked, and they produce more of that whine in the NFIs and Novas. Its probably because the Voith allows the RPM to get higher.

Eh, yes but not necessary depending on the bus and type of engine mated.

Ya. It has to be mated with a Cummins engine. The why Cummins and Voith all the way !!!

On Brampton 1st batch LFS, it doesn't have a high freq. sound. When I rode 0630, this one had a high freq. sound.

Most Cummins engine do make high freq. sound when mated with Voith, but some of them don't.

Maybe we will see ISMs?

As for this year in new arrivals, it's going to be very interesting:

12 Eldorado EZ-Rider IIs

15 [New Flyer D40LFRs]

35 [New Flyer D60LFRs]

That's 62 buses for 2007. I think they will be numbered as follows:

0701-0712 - Eldorado EZ-Rider IIs

0713-0727 - [New Flyer D40LFRs]

0751-0785 - [New Flyer D60LFRs]

That's if they follow their old "60 foot from 51 and others from 01" system, and based on my presumption that the EZ-Riders will arrive first. Of course, the EZ-Riders could be numbered 0654-0665 since they were ordered in 2006, but I highly doubt that.

So Mississuaga is getting some D60LFR's for sure??????????

That is my assumption, based on the fact that for 14 years MT has been buying artics from New Flyer, and I couldn't see NABI or whoever else bidding. Even if they did bid, MT would, 95% chance, go with New Flyer.

Well what about the rumor of them wanting to get out of Artics???

The 1997 D60LF are not retiring untill 2009...

Someone mentioned that the 1997 artics are excluded from MT's 12 year LF program, so they'll be retiring early. And plus, if MT really wanted to get out of artics, they wouldn't have slated artics for the BRT.

No, they are retiring this year. Look at page 74 of this report.

2007 Bus Acquisitions-Replacement Replace (35) 1997 60' buses 18,506,000

EDIT, just realized I'm the second person to link to that! :)

When are the arriving ?

Most likely in mid-summer to mid-October. For example, the first 2006 D40LFR arrived on July 31, 2006, and the last one was in the middle of October. I am expecting the EZ-Riders in mid to late spring, so they launch the GTA fare card.
