Doesn't that seem like a waste of resources, using an ISL in a 30-footer? Or does it end up costing less because it is standard throughout the fleet?

Of course it's standarize the fleet. As of the engine, it's going to be a much less HP anyway.

IMO the traffic headaches on Highway 7 are as follows:

AM rush hour:

WB near Kennedy

WB near Warden

EB between 404 and Woodbine

WB between Woodbine and Leslie

Both directions between Jane and Keele

EB near Weston

EB near Islington?

PM rush hour:

EB near McCowan

EB near Kennedy

EB near Warden

Both directions between Leslie and Woodbine

Both directions between Jane and Keele

WB near Weston

WB near Islington?

IIRC, Brampton has a lot of traffic on Queen near BCC?

Part of the problem with Warden and Hwy 7 is because our wonderful Markham road crews take forever to finish doing whatever it is they do(probably sleeping). When those intersections have any construction, for whatever reason they like to leave them undone for a month before finishing. I seriously think the current road contractor just milks as much money because Markham road construction wasn't this lousy before. Hwy 7 is busy enough, with useless road contractors and hopeless drivers your best bet of avoiding traffic east-west is 16th or Major Mack. For whatever reason Vaughan's traffic light system always has a few areas that fail completely during rain, it might also increase delays in Vaughan.

Mississauga have much less visual impaired passengers than Toronto.

Only way you can make sure your stop arrives is ask the driver.

actually General,

Where do you get this information from?

Are you a cnib person, do you know the statistics?

Are you a legally blind person?

Before making statments like this, PLEASE do your homework.

I AM a CNIB client as well I am a advocate for the blind in southern Ontario, and for your information, there are approx, 2500 Blind / Legally blind clients within the MT service area.

The fact that the drivers are calling out stops is NOT only for us, it helps senors and new transit users as well as people that are learning disabled, and as well newcomers to canada.

Going offtopic again, last offtopic post:

No, 16th is a headache now for me as well. I know 16th well, I live right on top of 16th. There is always massive traffic between Rodick and Woodbine WB during AM rush (I live around there), due to the watermain construction there (I still have bad water treatment in my house...), and EB, with the watermain construction between Warden and Kennedy, spells traffic jam in those areas as well.

Does anyone know how many LFRs MTs suposed to be getting in 2007? does anyone know how many LFRs YRTs getting in 2007? (off topic, I know) Also, I went to the news section of the Eldorado website, and it doesnt work so I cant see if there's a bid from Mississauga. Anyone know for sure?

Next year there are 35 D60LFs to replace.

That is 35 D60LFRs or 51 D40LFRs, plus the set amount of 8 expansion D40LFRs. So expect about 40 D60LFRs or 59 D40LFRs.

2008-2009 will be very interesting; the 40 1991 Vs are slated for 2008 while the 42 1998 VIs are scheduled for 2009, but I can't see them going that long. I would imagine a larger order in mid 2008 and then another medium order in early 2009.

Well then, I'm sorry for accusing it. I know you, you know me.

It's that most times I ride on the major, heavy routes and I don't usually ride on small routes.

59 LFRs eh? Sounds good. Do you know how many EZ riders are coming? And Ive always wondered why the VIs arent lasting very long, in Toronto and now in Mississauga. Im not sure about Bramptons VIs, although we just rebuilt one of them.

There are 12 Orion IIs to replace, so expect at least 12 Eldorade EZ-Rider IIs.

How many times do I have to say this, all of MT's LF buses have a rebuidless 11 year life span (Excluding the 1997 D60LFs and the 1997 Orion IIs). So the Orion VIs will last as long as any LF bus in Mississauga (Again, with the exceptions of the 1997 D60LFs and the 1997 Orion IIs).

All I said was I was wondering why the VIs IN PARTICUALR WERE NOT LASTING VERY LONG (TTC is retiring them and MT is going to soon. I WAS NOT SAYING ANYTHING ABOUT TTCs VIIs (7), FOR GOD SAKES!!!!!! THAT SUBJECT ENDED A LONG TIME AGO!!! IM NOT BLIND!!!! (meaning no offense to those who are legally blind). DOES IT SEEM TO YOU THAT TTCs VIs ARE LASTING 11 YEARS????? NO ONE IS QUESTIONING THAT!!! IM JUST WONDERING WHY TTC IS RETIRING THEM ALREADY; MY GOODNESS!!!!!!! The 11 year sched for MT was NOT my question!!!

Havnt any of you wondered why TTC is retiring the VIs already???. Was something wrong with them???

First, do your math. 2006-1997 or 1998 = only 9 or 8 years.

Secondly, TTC retired them because they're CNG, not because of their build quality. TTC would have rebuilt these units if they could be converted without sacrificing wheelchair position.

Geez, calm down. And MT0603 didn't mention anything about VIIs.

I said MT is going to retire the VIs in two years because their 11 years is up, not because of their quality.

A little correction there, it should be "TTC has retired them".

Its not any of that. What I asked was why TTC was retiring/has retired their VIs so early, them being only 8 years old. I didnt take into account that by 2009 MTs VIs will be 11 years old, therefore by MT standards, retired. Thank you D. Yip for answering my REAL question.

First, do your math. 2006-1997 or 1998 = only 9 or 8 years.

I realize that that is only 8-9 years. Thats why I asked if it looked like TTC's VIs were lasting 11 years, because theyre not/didnt.

I only mentioned VIIs, because i thought the MT0603 was bringing up the huge argument we had about the VIIs lasting long. Sorry about that. I also wasnt questioning build quality either. I was simply asking why the TTC has retired the VIs so soon. I didnt think about MTs 11 year sched when I asked my question, so dismiss that part.

What in god's name is wrong with you?

Nothings wrong with me, I just over interpreted, thats all.

I have a question.

Are the 9700's (D60LF) only being used on the 1 Dundas? I live on the portion of Dundas west that most of the buses come along, on their way to Islington Subway, I have noticed that in the past week the 1 and 1C's are bendy using the 9700's, meanwhile no other route along here are.

The D60LFs also show up on the 26 Burnhamthorpe, and on weekends you'll see them on the 19 Hurontario. You'll see those 26s if you're at Islington Station or Square One, and at the latter you'll also see the 19s.

Wrong. The equivalent of 35 D60LF is 58 D40LFR in terms of cost. The Mississauga Transit budget states 58 replacement buses and 8 growth buses. Novabus or Orion is also a possibility considering GTTA is buying all the buses next year, not MT.

Ok, I didn't know they calculated by cost. I calculated my numbers based on seating capacity.

I did not know that GTTA was now responsible for purchases. Will they be buying all new buses for GTA systems?

Thanks, I think I might go bus hunting on Friday, I saw 9770 AGAIN today.
