So we're pretty much going back to the 1980s with 2 Hurontario and what was the 19 (now 17) Hurontario North, and a transfer at Square One needed to travel the full length of Hurontario.  The only real difference is the 17 will turn back at Hurontario & 407 instead of running to Shoppers World.

And I suppose if you want to go directly north, just take the 103. Saves the time.

Nope!!......................103 is currently cancel,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,When the 103 ran, it save you 13 minutes over any 19 bypassing CCTT. This is been set up for the coming of the LRT and extra time to ride it bypassing CCTT.

With the cancel 103 now, the 17 will have to run to Shoppers World or force riders onto the 502 at Derry.

Read the service changes, as it will tell you what other express route are currently cancel. As to how long, no one has a clue until the Virus is under control as well when ridership return to normal, especially with cheap gas at the pump not seen since 2000.

I recall something called the 202 Express...but I never actually saw one. When did that exist?

I remember the 201 service on Dunda aswell, and saw it get killed off.

Are the Eglinton changes not happening after all? That'd be sad.

2005 to 2011 iirc. 202 was just the old name for the 103 -- the renumbering happened as Brampton introduced Zum on Main, and MT wanted something shiny to show for the occasion.

The Hurontario corridor changes are in response to the LRT construction. Frequencies for routes 2 and 17 are not far off from what is currently offered on the 19 outside of peak periods, however the Saturday service is going to be a issue going from 8 minutes currently to 15-17 minutes on the 2 and 17.

Eliminating the branches of route 19 will allow for better vehicle loading as currently the 19 does get busier than the 19A/19B/19C, as it serves some busy stops south of the Queensway.

Route 2 frequency

Weekday 18-20 minutes early AM; 9-10 minutes AM peak, Midday, PM peak; 15 minutes evening; 20 minutes overnight.

Saturday 20 minutes early AM; 15-17 minutes midday; 15 minutes evening; 30 minutes late evening.

Sunday 20 minutes early AM; 15 minutes midday; 16-18 minutes evening; 30 minutes late evening.

Route 17 Frequency

Weekday 18-20 minutes early AM; 10 minutes AM peak, Midday, PM peak; 15 minutes evening; 18 minutes overnight.

Saturday 20 minutes early AM; 15-17 minutes midday; 28-30 minutes late evening.

Sunday 18-20 minutes early AM, 15-17 minutes midday; 28-30 minutes late evening.

Other Changes

Route 25 will be expanded to cover the industrial area currently served by route 19B. It will have a revised routing with 2 buses and run every 13 minutes during peak periods. Connections to route 103 will be made at Hurontario and Milverton.

Route 103 will have another stop at Hurontario and Milverton in both directions to connect with route 25.

Route 104 will have midday service added with 20 minute service using 5 buses.

Route 107 will now serve Humber all year round instead of getting cut back to Westwood during the spring/summer months.

The original route 2 existed since Mississauga Transit began under Charterways in 1969. While it always has served Hurontario it was not until September 1971 when it served Hurontario fully from the City Centre to Port Credit. It also had several routing variations west of Port Credit to Sheridan Mall over the ensuing years.

The September 13, 1971 system revamp had route 2 operating along Hurontario from the City Centre to Port Credit, then along Mississauga Road, Indian, Lorne Park, Truscott, Kelly, Tredmore, Bromsgrove, and then on Southdown to Sheridan Mall. Essentially the routing covered Lorne Park and Park Royal, now covered by present day routes 14 and 29.

On January 2, 1973 route 2 was branched into route 2A and 2B. Route 2A covered almost the same routing as above, except the loop through Park Royal now extended to Winston Churchill instead of Tredmore. Route 2B operated along Hurontario from the City Centre to Port Credit and then on Lakeshore to Pine Loop (Port Credit west boundary).

A major system expansion on October 21, 1974 eliminated the 2A and 2B branches and route 2 continued to serve Hurontario from the City Centre to Port Credit and then west, however it now went west on Lakeshore to Lorne Park Road, Truscott, Winston Churchill, Bromsgrove and Southdown to Sheridan Mall. The service on Mississauga Road and Indian Road was eliminated.

Another service change on February 10, 1975 modified route 2 to serve Lakeshore west of Port Credit all the way to Clarkson, and then north on Southdown directly to Sheridan Mall. The service in Lorne Park and Park Royal covered by route 2 would be covered by the new route 14 (no relation to today’s route).

On March 5, 1979, route 2 was cut back to only operate on Hurontario between Square One and Port Credit. The service on Lakeshore and Southdown was replaced by extending route 23 (introduced in 1976) from Pine Loop to Sheridan Mall. This was part of a system wide route restructuring due to budget cuts.

Route 2 on Hurontario between Square One and Port Credit is how most people remember the route and it would remain a major route serving the Hurontario corridor until May 9, 1994 when route 19 would be extended south from Square One to Port Credit, and route 2 was downgraded to weekday service. Route 2 and 19 would combine to provide service on Hurontario south of Square One until September 6, 1994 when it was cancelled, being replaced by additional route 19 service. Route 19A then ran between Port Credit and Brampton, while 19B provided additional service between Port Credit and Square One.

A long post, but it does have a interesting story, and it has been interesting that all the other original MT routes stood the test of time but route 2 didn’t. Now almost 26 years since it got cancelled the route makes a return.

I sure hope the Eglinton changes are just happening later now (say June) because it will be really disappointing if they do nothing about all the duplication on that corridor. Then again, this has been the typical M.O during the entire MiWay Five plan, create plans and then turn back on them to the point very little of what is originally proposed gets implemented, or things come out of lefty field. For example, the 2020 information sessions for MiWay Five didn't include any plans for the 2 or 17, or midday service for the 104. The MiWay website also still lists the Eglinton corridor changes as going ahead for April 27.

No one seems to have documented the March 2, 2020 Service Changes.  The most significant o them being the extension of all overnight 19 HURONTARIO service (have the 2 and 17 been officially assigned names aside from the obvious HURONTARIO SOUTH and HURONTARIO NORTH which not only make for a long route name, but additionally redundant names when factoring in the route direction as they've done with the documentation here) to the Hwy. 407 Terminal.

You'll have to do a search on the new MiWay site as they've rearranged (and apparently hidden) some links.  I've mentioned it before, but in using the Triplinx trip planner you can't plan using stop numbers.  Since you need to select an agency, I don't see why they can't add each agency's stop IDs.  It's now a 50/50 guess as to which stop (assuming the cross-streets don't change name at the intersection) to select.  Granted it's not that far generally to the other stop if you select the wrong one, but it's weird they'd eliminate the ability to differentiate or specify.

Here's the revised MiWay5 implementation plan for 2020 (the map still hasn't been updated to reflect the April 27 Service Changes):

With the current situation, I don't think they need to split the route yet.

Schedules are finalized quite some time before they are released publicly. All the changes outlined by Silly Tilley in a post from March 28 found on the previous page of this thread are going forward.

Yesterday MiWay released the GTFS file for the next board period and that's why the new routes are now showing up on Google. Expect public outreach from MiWay this coming week. Although not included in Silly Tilley's post, the 39 is seeing midday service increase to 24 minutes  (from 28) on weekdays with the addition of a base block.

There was a set of further service reductions announced for Monday, April 6 only to have been partially rescinded on Wednesday, April 8 with additional service restoration on Monday, April 13.  I've noted the ones that I remember seeing as I wasn't expecting the changes to be rescinded so quickly.  The express routes returning but serving all local stops appears to be a compromise at increasing service on those corridors.  The wording of the service changes is a bit confusing with the some of the same routes being listed as restored and cut.

Effective on April 13:

We will resume regular service on some routes and cancel GO Shuttle routes. In addition, some express routes will be restored and will service all local stops along the route. These changes are in addition to our current service reductions.

I saw the blocks for the 2 and 17 on T55

From MiWay website :

We’ve changed our local service along the Hurontario corridor to minimize impacts to travel and deliver reliable service during
Hurontario Light Rail Transit construction (HuLRT).

HuLRT construction began in March 2020 – it is expected to last five years and will temporarily reduce lanes on parts of
Hurontario Street.

There are three major changes starting on April 27, 2020:
Route 19 Hurontario will be split into two new routes: Route 17 Hurontario and Route 2 Hurontario
Route 19 Variants (19A, 19B and 19C) will be cancelled
Route 25 Traders Loop will be revised to provide service to portions of the former Routes 19A and 19B

Note: Route 103 Hurontario Express will continue to travel on Hurontario Street between Brampton Gateway Terminal and Port Credit
GO Station. It does not stop at City Centre Transit Terminal. Service reductions are in effect on this and other routes until
further notice. This route will be making all local stops along Hurontario due to COVID-19 changes to service.

So it's official ?
