Any chance there will be an accompanying service alerts account @MiWayNotices like the @ttcHelps and @ttcNotices accounts

Perhaps the @MiWayHelps will be more of a catch-all customer service. The previous Twitter handle, @MissTransit, when it was live did post service alerts. The current alerts on the MiWay page aren't as active in relaying immediate notices as the TTC, not to say anything of the whole setup on the respective websites.

How does MiWay plan to update the 4-Sherway? I'll be grateful for increased frequency cause right now its every half hour + - during peak hours, which is unbelievable. Are there any routes with worse frequencies?

14A Lorne Park, with 35 minutes, and

65 Barondale, with 40 minutes, and yeah...

4 used to run every 20 minutes at rush hours.

And if they do add a bus, its frequency will go up to 24 minutes, and for midday, 32 minutes instead of the current 47.

65 seems to have upgraded to a regular-sized bus lately, and there are times where passenger load is relatively high (20-ish passengers) on a midday.

So how long before the new Corporate logo starts appearing on the MiWay buses? Perhaps with next year's deliveries or is there enough time to have them added onto this year's? The new logo itself has a somewhat transit-agency feel to it.

For those who haven't seen it, here it is:

I assume similar to the current Corporate logo, that "Mississauga" will be placed beside the logo and not beneath it.

Slightly off-topic but I think they couldve designed something a lot better then this. The logo looks very odd to say the least.

We have deliveries for next year? What are we getting?

The Google schedule data is up. A few observations.

The Dundas redesign was done in an interesting way. In the midday, there is a net increase in service with the new 101, but during the peak there's less trips scheduled (by around 5%) with more local than express trips, while currently the express routes combined are more frequent than the 1. An exception here is westbound in the AM peak where the 20 minute gaps in the express service have been filled. Despite the 201 being converted to blue buses, the 108 is still mostly orange, with only 9 of 22 runs done with blue buses.

The late night frequency cut on Dundas is practically nonexistent, affecting only the last two headways of the day, however there are a couple of 17-18 minute headways at the shoulders of the midday period.

The 52 and 55 loops are scheduled with one bus each and timed for transfers to the 51 and 5. The 51 gains two trips in the AM and four trips in the PM, while the 5 loses one trip in the AM and two in the PM. Off peak service sees no changes, apart from a slightly later end of service on the 51.

The whole logo thing I guess stems from Hazel not seeking re-election and the City looking to create a new brand for itself. The logo itself is a dramatic departure from the current corporate logo. When Toronto went through their rebranding they simply tweaked their previous one based on their iconic City Hall design. They should have done the same and simplified the logo if they wanted. The annexation of Milton may mean we switch from the parallel edges to a more flower pot/trapezoid shape. The recent new signage copying the swoop at the bottom of the current logo will be out of place if they adopt this one.

Meanwhile, in actual transit news the March Service Changes are now fully up on the MiWay website complete with maps and schedules. The loop-the-loop routing of the 55 MEYERSIDE LOOP around Meyerside-Bonhill-Trinity-Dixie seems to have confused the system as the repeated stops are listed one after another in the drop-down menu. What is the reasoning for the service on Dixie seeing as there's already the intersecting transfer at Meyerside?

To Gil:

What do you mean by "The annexation of Milton?" in the previous post?

Likely the portion of Milton between Hwy407ETR & Ninth Line that was transferred to Mississauga on January 1, 2010.

Thanks for answering. One last history lesson. There was some symbolism in the shape of the Corporate logo:

mississauga_logo.gif

The overall outline was supposed to reflect the general shape of the City. Artistic license was taken with the northern border with Brampton to have the text all lined up. Historically the western boundary was at Winston Churchill, but Mississauga has slowly been annexing land westward from Milton and Oakville (Ninth and Tenth Lines are proof. Erin Mills was originally Fifth Line West, and a segment still called Fifth Line exists south of The Collegeway.) The lake shore being further south at Clarkson than at Lakeview. City Hall itself was designed incorporating various aspects of a farm commemorating the agricultural origins of the community. You have the barn (public offices/departments), silo (council chamber), farmhouse (council & staff offices) and windmill (clock tower and former restaurant). The buildings themselves were constructed using hay-coloured bricks.

Back in transit news, the local ATU office has removed the last of the publicly accessible transit details from their website (board periods and sign up). Guess we're left to rely on the insiders for information now or wait for the details to come out to the public.
