TTC Service Changes

hmm, it looks like as usual those of us in the Long Branch area get screwed as usual, I guaruntee that uit wont be every 12-13 minutes, I've seen myself wait 45 minutes for a darn car out at Long Branch DURING THE DAYTIME! I'll keep my thoughts to myself for now about this change, I'm going to give the 501 another chance, I'd given up dealing with it or depending on it since the time last fall when I waited 45 minutes and was late for a very importent job interview, because of the crap 501, I've gotten used to using the 123/45/110/76/66 to get down to the Lakeshore, I love riding the streetcars, much more than the subway, but I got sick of the crap... It may take a bit longer walking from those routes, but at least I KNOW I'm gonna get there....

Doesnt help that they are really short on cars.

I disagree. I think it will be an improvement to those at each end of the line. The not-so-dirty secret about short turns is that they're not always intended to fill service gaps. Short turns are ordered to put *operators* back on time for relief. By segmenting the line and operating each end of the line by its closest yard... you cut down in the mileage away from the relief point. I'd surmise that this would reduce the number of short turns (and consequently number of gaps out to the Branch)... because supervisors *should* be able to keep each part of the line in the right running order and headways out to each end of the line. Whether this actually happens come October will be interesting.

I have NEVER seen or heard of a Street (route) supervisor actually being posted west of Roncy Carhouse, NEVER, the farthest west I've seen on is at Bay street...

The east end whine more, also it seems that money talks, as most of those people out east of Broadview have money and councilliors living out there..

out here in Etobicoke, the west end is in a lower income area, and not many of us whine, instead they just get back into their cars and ttc loses customers..

I've been out here 3 years.. nothing has changed... but I'm noty holding my breath for a miracle...

Have you ever been east of Broadview? The area from the Don to Greenwood is not exactly one of the most posh in Toronto, and I think that its fair to say that it's no better off (monetarily) than a lot of Lakeshore West, if not worse.

That's not entirely true. For a few periods, they placed line supervisors at humber and Long branch loops in the afternoons to monitor things. That has since changed and now there are 3 line supervisors along the line: Queen west (west of Yonge), Queen East(east of Yonge but is quite often at Connaught) and Connaught/Russell CH.

I do not know how or where they will place Supervisors after the split comes into effect.

Queensway and Wilson are going to be helping out on 512 again with Arrow Rd and Mt Dennis. Weekend service will be Arrow Rd and Wilson. So during rush hour any bus from the west end divisions (excluding the 7200s) can be found on St Clair.

All of Birchmount routes are now designated bike rack routes, leaving only the non-accessible bus routes left to be made bike rack routes.

145, as I and many others though, will be a Queensway route. The branches will be 145 Kipling-Downtown and 145A Park Lawn-Downtown. It uses 3 buses in both AM and PM peak service.

Agreed. I see supervisors out there all the time at various locations on the line.

I spoke to a driver on the 47 today as he said that the 41 is going to arrow road for next board. The sign up is already complete for next board so all I really need is one member to confirm whether it is true or false.

False. The October's service summary still shows 41 Keele out of Mt Dennis.

Contrary to reports over on Transit Toronto about the new 145 Humber Bay Express route launching next week, there are two stops immediately east of the Humber at Windermere and Ellis Aves. most likely to serve residents in the condo developments springing up there. The existing 80 QUEENSWAY stops along Lake Shore did not indicate that the 145 stopped there too, but I'm assuming that they don't as there isn't much potential express ridership for the stops between Ellis and Parkside.

Meanwhile, the October service changes have yet to make an appearance on the TTC's Service Changes page with less than a week to go. Aren't they usually up by now or are they holding for 48 hours notice?

They usuallypost service changes the friday before they take effect, so I guess that is going to be the case this time. You'd think with some major changes coming that they would post sonner!

Which garage is going to run the 145 Humber Bay Express?
