TTC Service Changes

Cliffside was out of Danforth until the early 1990s because I remember seeing 1981 D901s on it while I was waiting for the 113 Danforth bus which was ran out of Birchmount. 113 & 20 were from different garages back then.

Dang, will have to scroll further through Transit-Toronto's route histories then. :P

Around 1991 I think Danforth and Birchmount were supposed to swap the 20 and 113 as the very last rollsigns out of Birchmount had 20 added to the bottom right above GARAGE. I don't know if Danforth actually took over the 113 at that time. Danforth picked up more routes to the west when Davenport closed in 1993, such as Parliament and Sherbourne, so 113 might have gone back to Birchmount after only a short time.

The 91 Woodbine is being restructured in October with the 91A renumbered as the 93 and 91B short turn branch discontinued. All service will run as either 91C or D.

https://stevemunro.ca/2016/09/13/ttc-service-changes-effective-sunday-october-9-2016/

Denzil Minnam-Wong already reported about this way back then.

http://www.ward34.com/single-post/2016/07/18/Route-Restructuring-–-91-Woodbine

Surprisingly the "93 Parkview Hills" route is actually included in the list of routes at the end of this board's service summary.

---

On a side note, the 191C/D restructuring for rush hour is a disaster for the 191C rider on Atwell Drive. Service is changed from 5 minute to 15 minutes with delays meaning you can wait 30+ minutes for a bus to show up on Atwell. I wonder if these restructuring will do more harm than good. In the 91's case, more buses can be stuck on York Mills. A wider headway will bring bunching from 2x9min=18min into 2x12min=24min headway. Bunching would be worst as shown by the 191C headways.

The 501 continue to detour onto King between Shaw and Spadina this board but it's not scheduled with no additional running time. The watermain project should be done already. Now we seen Wilson and Arrow filling in the 501 shuttle with spare crews as it's not scheduled unlike the east end 501 Neville Park shuttles.

Edit: Queensway is also supplying shuttle buses for the 501.

Service Changes for May 7, 2017 are posted on Steve Munro's blog:
https://swanboatsteve.files.wordpress.com/2017/04/20170507servicechanges.pdf

Some highlights:

  • 501 QUEEN will be operated by buses excluding the Neville-Sunnyside streetcar which will be dominated by ALRVs
  • 503 KINGSTON ROAD and 504 KING reverts to streetcars but the latter will use ALRVs
  • The 509 HARBOURFRONT and 514 CHERRY, however, will use Flexity cars at all times.
  • Construction on Dundas and Gerrard affects the 65 PARLIAMENT, 505 DUNDAS and 506/306 CARLTON routes.
  • Interlining on routes 5 AVENUE ROAD/56 LEASIDE and 51 LESLIE/61 AVENUE ROAD NORTH will be suspended due to Metrolinx construction.
  • Construction on Royal York station will see route interlined: 15 EVANS/48 RATHBURN and 73 ROYAL YORK/76 ROYAL YORK SOUTH. However, the 315 EVANS-BROWNS LINE BLUE NIGHT will be diverted to Islington Stn. instead. Evans buses have not been present at that station since 1984 back when the 15 was routed to Islington.
  • 121 FORT YORK-ESPLANADE resumes service to Cherry Street.
  • Downsview is now renamed to Sheppard West Stn.
  • As everyone on the board mentioned, 57 MIDLAND is being moved to Malvern from Birchmount to balance fleet capacity. Malvern has not operated that route since 2000.
  • With construction on Coxwell Stn. winding down, the 70 O'CONNOR resumes interlining with 16 McCOWAN (Sunday late evening) and 135 GERRARD (late evening, weekdays).
  • 63 OSSINGTON ends northbound at Atlantic and King
  • 131 NUGGET will change its end routing after 3:00 pm to Morningview Trail & Sewell's Road, just one stop of the existing terminus at Old Finch Avenue.

Do you happen to know if the garage change of 57 Midland is permanent?

I don't see any 501 streetcars at any time of day/week.  Looks to me 100% buses ... 65 in AM peak and 62 in PM peak.

Compared to 27 ALRVs and 23 buses in AM peak and 31 ALRVs and 23 buses in PM peak previously.

Perhaps Steve fixed something

Service Changes pertained to reconstruction work at Kennedy and Wilson Stns.:

  • Routes 12 KINGSTON ROAD, 20 CLIFFSIDE, 21 BRIMLEY, 34 EGLINTON EAST, 43 KENNEDY, 57 MIDLAND, 86 SCARBOROUGH, 113 DANFORTH, 116 MORNINGSIDE, 131 NUGGET and 198 UofT SCARBOROUGH ROCKET will be moved to an temporary terminal in the parking lot, in the fare paid area. Interline for routes 20 and 62 MORTIMER is suspended.
  • In contrast to the Upper Terminal reconstruction in 2007, the North Terminal at Wilson will not be reopened (sorry guys, you're out of luck to explore it). Instead, routes 96 WILSON (WB), 118 THISTLE DOWN, 119 TORBARRIE, 165 WESTON ROAD NORTH (WB) and 186 WILSON ROCKET (WB) will be moved to the Lower Terminal while the temporary terminal in the fare paid area will serve only routes 29 DUFFERIN, 104 FAYWOOD and 160 BATHURST NORTH.

Other changes:

  • 22 COXWELL/322 COXWELL NIGHT will divert SB from Coxwell via Dundas to Kingston Rd, then returning west to loop via Kingston Road, Eastern Ave, Coxwell and Queen. Evening and weekend service diverted WB via the same loop from Kingston Rd then east via Queen and Kingston Rd to Dundas, and west to Coxwell.
  • 501 QUEEN/301 QUEEN NIGHT service will divert both ways via Eastern Ave and Woodward Ave. The relief point will be moved from Queen & Kingston Rd to Queen & Connaught. 502 DOWNTOWNER will follow the same path.
  • 503 KINGSTON ROAD streetcar service is once again replaced by buses. Diversion is the same as 501 but downtown loop via Wellington and York will be used.
  • 506 CARLTON shuttle buses currently operates between Main Street Stn to Queen & Coxwell but the level of streetcar service and running times are unchanged. Trips to Russell Carhouse will be via Broadview Avenue.
  • The relief point for 89 WESTON will be changed from Weston Rd & Ray Ave to Weston Rd & Eglinton Ave W.
  • The AM peak 97B YONGE branch at the southern terminus was changed in May to reverse direction operating via Yonge, Queens Quay, Bay and Front due to construction.
  • The last northbound stop on the 191D HIGHWAY 27 ROCKET (Kipling Stn-Steeles via Royalcrest) branch, in the morning peak period only, will be changed to on Steeles Avenue West at Highway 27, east side to avoid traffic congestion.
  • Minor changes in early morning schedules to routes 15 EVANS, 48 RATHBURN, 73 ROYAL YORK and 76 ROYAL YORK SOUTH.

Well, this is gonna play havoc with passengers transferring to and from Lines 2 and 3 or any connecting bus route.

Does anyone know why they are temporarily increasing service late evenings on the 62 Mortimer route? That route is not that busy after 8ish....

They are getting rid of the late night interline btwn the 20 and the 62 due to Kennedy construction. That's y the 62 is getting a temporary increase in service.
