OC Transpo 8238 Posted August 19, 2013 Report Posted August 19, 2013 Is there a wiki page for this ferry? I would be interested in knowing more about it, but not sure where I would find it on the Wiki. Thanks

Blue Bus Fan Posted November 19, 2013 Report Posted November 19, 2013 BC Ferries should go back to the government since the P3 partnership is totally failing and costing taxpayers a lot of money.
Blue Bus Fan Posted December 4, 2013 Report Posted December 4, 2013 All route one vessels excluding the Queen of New Westminster. The Spirit of British Columbia is tied up until December, 20 2013. The Spirit of Vancouver Island is the third boat on the route until December 20.
BCT-3122-D800-10240 Posted April 22, 2014 Report Posted April 22, 2014 I am currently on board the Coastal Inspiration headed for Duke Point. This is my first time on board one of the Coastal vessels. Apparently this one is going for refit as of tomorrow. Today is the last day.

SidneyTransitfan Posted May 20, 2014 Report Posted May 20, 2014 Not sure if I've posted this here before, but it's been three years now since the MV Mill Bay was retired from the route it ran solo on since 1958 (built in 1956, replaced the former wooden vessel Brentwood Bay in 1958).Here's the video of one of her last ever sailings, on May 1st, 2011. Also shot a video just a few days ago of the Queen of Alberni leaving Tsawwassen, here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Od8RL1XzBEAnd the Quinsam leaving Nanaimo harbour in 2013:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-y8itjM94CM
Blue Bus Fan Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 As some people may know that ferry fare have gotten extremely unaffordable because of a crown corporation turned into a private company. BC is losing money from ferries fares because people are not travelling a long the coast. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/bc-ferries-hikes-mean-loss-of-2-3b-says-ubcm-report-1.2762212 But according to Minister Stone we are not loosing money. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/bc-ferries-won-t-get-more-government-subsidies-todd-stone-1.2772692 BC government is showing a lack listening skills to mayors of BC because of this and TransLink referendum.

The last round trip for the Departure Bay vessel is cancelled Monday to Thursday unlit December 21 to January 4, 2015 and then not until March 13, 2015
Blue Bus Fan Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 BC Ferries could end the Horseshoe Bay and Departure Bay route to save money. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/bc-ferries-considers-changes-to-service-between-horseshoe-bay-and-nanaimo-1.2823993 Hopefully this will get government and people start talking about making BC Ferries a crown cooperation again. Hopefully this make people realize that privatization always seems to fail in mass ways and privatization is not good solution to reduce costs.

Blue Bus Fan Posted November 29, 2014 Report Posted November 29, 2014 BC Ferries is adding 15 more cars to the Queen of Capilano which currently services the Bowen Island route. This ferry will now be able to take 100 cars at time now compared to 85 cars. http://www.bcferries.com/about/projects/queen-of-capilano-mlu.html I do not think that this ferry was design for fix galley decks. Blue Bus Fan Posted December 21, 2014 Report Posted December 21, 2014 BC Ferries is building three 144 car vessel to replace the Queen of Burnaby and Queen of Nanaimo both can carry around 192 cars. Both vessel seem like their under capacity for the routes they service. Queen of Burnaby: Queen of Burnaby by Blue Bus Fan, on Flickr Queen of Nanaimo: Queen of Nanaimo by Blue Bus Fan, on Flickr
Blue Bus Fan Posted December 30, 2014 Report Posted December 30, 2014 Ferry fares are going to up by 3.9% starting next year. http://www.news1130.com/2014/12/29/a-look-at-tax-and-rate-hikes-coming-in-2015/ I think BC Ferries mission is to price themselves out of business because ridership drops when fares increase. When will this government change how BC Ferries? It failing on how it is owned because quaisi-private part of BC Ferries is falling. So, the only good option to help BC Ferries become a lot cheap is to make it crown corporation. That kinda seems weird since they eliminated fuel surcharge of 3.4% on all fares in December. http://bc.ctvnews.ca/bc-ferries-cutting-3-4-per-cent-fuel-surcharge-1.2148510
Blue Bus Fan Posted January 4, 2015 Report Posted January 4, 2015 Wow Mr. Stone (Ministry of Transportation and infrastructure) is saying that BC Ferries needs have to major charge within a company. http://www.vancouversun.com/Transportation+minister+calls+internal+cutbacks+Ferries/10697024/story.html Hopefully if the Provincial mandates this hopefully this create a protest that makes BC Ferries a crown corporation. This shows that crown corporations or sometimes better than private corporations. Also that people see that private corporation should never have a monopoly and crown corporation should be the only allowed to have an monopoly in play.

Blue Bus Fan Posted January 5, 2015 Report Posted January 5, 2015 Interesting... From your posts it appears you're a union man, come hell or high water correct? Or do you believer that the rest of the BC taxpayers should be subsidizing the ferry users? Union and somewhat BC taxpayers should subsidizing since the ferry riders subsidized their roads and highways since they are free too use.
Blue Bus Fan Posted January 10, 2015 Report Posted January 10, 2015 Wow, BC Ferries does not like using the Queen of Chilliwack because they are putting a NIP on the Earls Cove to Saltery Bay which she has never been on before. http://www.bcferries.com/bcfservicenotice?id=882363
Blue Bus Fan Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 A petition urging the Provincial legislature to return to government has been read in government but it did not pass. http://www.vancitybuzz.com/2015/02/new-petition-asks-government-take-back-bc-ferries/ If you guys want to get BC Ferries back to government sign the petition to get BC Ferries back to the government. https://www.change.org/p/return-bc-ferries-to-thebc-department-of-transportation-and-highways
