MTA NYCT Subway/Bus discussion

There appears to be a bit of a fleet swap going on in the Manhattan division as several 2021-2022 New Flyer XDE40 hybrids are now assigned to Manhattanville Depot. These units include #9420, #9422, #9426-28, #9432, and #9597. #9420 and #9427 was spotted working the M4 earlier. Not sure what's going on, but will be monitoring the situation closely. Could possibly be yet another last minute Depot assignment change and if so, could affect the plan to have all Orion 7.501 hybrids leaving Manhattan Island. 

Also, 2007 Orion 7.501 OG hybrids #3703 and #3782 to Spring Creek Depot from Baisley Park Depot....possibly for the last time. Both spotted working the B103 Limited yesterday.

They barely have electric infrastructure in place, just for testing. This takes time, it's not an overnight process.

The garages haven’t been modified to fit electric vehicles. Once MTA starts to demolition some of their garages and update them to have electric buses, than we will see those on the roads.

According to the forums, in regards to the upcoming bus company Novabus LFS order, the breakdown will be something like this:

Baisley Park: 46 units

Eastchester: 24 units (what will become of the electric buses that were originally assigned to them is anyone's guess.)

JFK/Far Rock: 40 units

LGA: 25 units

 

All this is subject to change as with all things MTA related. However, regardless around 135 or so additional 2009 Orion 7.501 NG hybrids will be retired once all is said and done. By Summer 2023, I suspect that only the 2010 Orion 7.501 NG hybrids will be left in service (along with the 2011-12 Orion 7.501 EPA10 3G Clean Diesels on SI).

2005 MCI D4500CLs #3137 and #3168 to ECH scrap.

2009 Orion 7.501 NG hybrid #4004 to Queens Village Depot from MHV.

2005 MCI D4500CL #3147 and 2007 Orion 7.501 OG hybrid #6889 are both now retired from Spring Creek and Queen Village Depots respectively.

2022 New Flyer XDE40 hybrids #9445-46, and #9448 are all now delivered NEW to MJQ Depot.

2021-2022 Prevost X3-45s #1423-24 delivered NEW to Eastchester. On a side note, can someone with insider knowledge please fill me in with regards to these strange new bus assignments between the XDE40s and LFS hybrids? Why is 2022 XDE40 #9423 at Fresh Ponds Depot if they are not slated to get any of these units?

 

Also 2010 Orion 7.501 NG hybrids #4530 and #4569 to MTA bus (LGA Depot) from Grand Avenue.
