Also retired are 2008 Orion 7.501 NG Hybrids #3849-50, and #3870 along with 2009 Orion 7.501 NG Hybrid #4079, all out of MHV Depot.

At this point, there must be around 25-30 Lead Acid battery pack O7 NG Hybrids left system wide.

OG Hybrids are mainly in Queens routes operated by MTA Bus Company. The 2008-10 Orion VIIs can be found just about anywhere.

Are there any specific routes you had in mind? I had a quick look at BusTime at some of the major ones, including all the ones which pass by Battery Park which is near where my hotel will be, but absent a feature that lets you search up fleet number ranges this could take a very long time.

Damn, not #3965! I just rode that bus back in April on the Q46 to LI Jewish hospital. Was a DAMN good bus and #4229 was the NG Hybrid with the RTS style seating! #4003 was just one of my favorite numbers. <:/

Also 2009 Orion 7.501 NG Hybrids #4277 and #4360 are now both retired out of Queens Village Depot. I thought the plan was to have the NG Hybrids transferred to this Depot for the next year or 2? They are now down to 24 NGs left, so what gives?

MTA is available on Transsee. You can look up fleet numbers there.

Ah, I had no idea that MTA was on TransSee. That is excellent, beats searching up routes one by one on BusTime. Thanks for the tip!

As of today, 2010 Orion 7.501 NG Hybrid #4615 has been written off the Flatbush Depot roster. This bus was having major machinal issues. It's farebox is now on a 2022 XD40, speaking of which..., 2022 New Flyer XD40s #7931-32, and #7935 delivered NEW to Flatbush Depot and all 3 are currently working the B41 as we speak. Meanwhile, 2022 New Flyer XD40 #7880, delivered NEW to Fresh Pond Depot was seen working the B26 earlier today.

2022 New Flyer XD40s #7933, #7936 and #7937, delivered NEW to Flatbush Depot. 2022 New Flyer XD40 #7876, delivered NEW to Fresh Pond Depot.

2006 Orion 7.501 OG Hybrid #3607 is now retired from MTA bus Company.

On the Subway side of things, there is now a plan in the works to upgrade the IRT service pattern in Brooklyn primarily, which also includes a new #8 Train!

Is there a source on this? Which station would it serve?

The study is from July 2020 and was done by a third-party engineering and architecture firm, and features several suggestions for improvements in the IRT division (including adding an (8) train that would run from Wakefield to New Lots, helping to de-interline Rogers Junction). None of these changes have been approved yet (and I don't think the MTA has commented on any of these — publicly at least).

The document's 917 pages long and takes forever for load, but this Twitter thread highlights some of the interesting finds from the study (the (8) is mentioned on the 4th thread)

What are the best routes in Manhattan to catch the Orion VII Hybrids of all types?

Don't know if you still wanted an answer on this, but the best routes to find Next Gens in Manhattan would be the Manhattanville routes (M2, M3, M4, M5, M10, M11, M96, M98, M104, M106, & M116), as there are 56 NGs left at that depot (compared to <5 NGs at each of the rest of the Manhattan depots).

The only OGs left are in Queens at MTA Bus Company, and the best routes to catch those tend to be the Q11, Q21, Q22, and Q35. The Q60 and Q101 enter Manhattan at 59th and 2nd if you wanted OG shots in Manhattan, but you might want to use TransSee to track those down.

According to a NYCT veteran poster, the plans for the Orion 7.501 Next Generation fleet has supposedly changed somewhat. As we all know, MTA bus Company is supposed to get most of the remaining NG Hybrids from NYCTA. JFK/FR Depot(s) with 200+ units, LGA Depot with around 130 units, BP Depot with 50 or so buses and ECH Depot with about 30 units. Along with those garages, Queens Village Depot was originally supposed to be the last TA Depot to house NG Hybrids (as they also were the last Depot to house OG Hybrids). However, that seems to have changed now as they are down to less than 25 units remaining. The new plan seems to be that 2010 Orion 7.501 NG Hybrids #4656-4702 will all eventually be assigned to Manhattanville Depot after all their remaining 2021-2022 Novabus LFS Hybrids are all delivered alongside their 2021-2022 New Flyer XDE40 Hybrids. If that's the case, then it is possible that in another year or 2, MHV Depot will eventually get more buses to replace these (either all of Brooklyn's XDE40s could be going Manhattan bound or all of The Bronx's LFS Hybrids, or they could just get 50 or so Electrics (XE40s) from a future order). In any case, this is certainly an interesting development.

7989 delivered to Ulmer Park

9892 delivered to Manhattanville

4596 Flatbush to LGA

In MTA news, seems that the 60 test New Flyer XE40 Charge NGs will be numbered #9350-9409, placing them right before the new XDE40 Hybrids starting at #9416.

Atleast according to the wiki page, which for the most part, seems mostly accurate.

Once again, re-using former Novabus RTS 06 numbers (in this case, former 1997 units).
