When could we see them running under their own power?

Probably later in the Summer.

I just though of something, assuming they take all options for these trains, that's nearly 1,600 new cars, so can the MTA possibly replace the R68s and R68As with these too? The remaining R44s and R46s only total about 810 cars (give or take), so in theory, the MTA can also replace all the R68s and R68As comfortably with nearly 200 remaining R211s to spare. Hell, they can even replace most of the R143s too if they are felling ballsy. Question is, is that part of the plan?

9562 and I think 9561 were at NFI St. Cloud, MN this afternoon when I drove by. Looked like they along with another 6 units or so were all ready to go and just awaiting drivers. Those darn trees just keep growing bigger and bigger so spotting fleet numbers or getting any half decent pics from the road is getting difficult.

According to this document, the plan is for 1,015 cars for fleet replacement and 597 cars 'for Second Avenue Subway and future service growth'.  As you noted, the R46 and SI R44 fleets total only around 810 cars, so that leaves 205 or so other cars that are theoretically being replaced.  That could be the number to get the fleet and spare ratios back to where they should be after the remaining R32 and R42 cars were sidelined.  Given the long timeframe for Second Ave. phase 2 construction as well as ridership losses from Covid and uncertainty of if and when those riders return, they could well decide to retire the R68 and R68A fleets with those 800 or so cars also.

I totally forgot that the SAS means new trackage (obviously), and therefore fleet expansion by default. If that's the case, unless the Covid angle is taken into account, it would be unwise to kill off the R68/68A fleets.

2004-05 MCI D4500CLs #3009, #3077, #3089, #3099 have been retired from MTA bus Company. Additionally, 2006 Orion 7.501 OG hybrids #6722 and #6727 are retired from NYCT along with #6716 and #6718 (officially). XDE40 #9567 to MCH depot. 2021 Novabus LFS hybrids #9739, #9750, #9752, and #9773 are assigned to MHV depot.

Regarding the R211's - one thing I just realized that I overlooked is the fact that the R46/SI R44 cars are 75-feet long and the replacement R211 cars are 60-feet long, so those 1,015 new cars in 5-car consists will exactly replace the 4-car consists of older cars.

That's a very valid point. It's just like ordering artic buses vs. 40 ft buses.

I'm surprised that no other #3800's have moved to MTA bus Company yet, considering that 100 street have a decent amount of LFS hybrids now.

First off, you mean Manhattanville. 100th street has 3900's and plus 100th street hasn't had a delivery since early June when 9636 came in.

Ok, I forgot they had #3900s, but the point still stands. MHV has about 30 2021 Nova LFS hybrids in service. They could have sent about 10 2008 NH hybrids to Queens by now.

Apparently, the MTA doesn't see it that way.  4513, 4519 just got sent to Queens Village from Grand Avenue.  Alot of weird swaps are going on right now.

2015 Prevost Car X3-45 #2502 is going to be OOS for a while due to an accident involving a BMW.

I need total confirmation for this, but 2009 Orion VII NG Hybrid #4066 may now be retired. It was spotted on the scrap side of Eastchester depot.

2008 NG hybrid #3946 to MHV and #3861 and #3862 to Tuskegee (100). Also Several 2021 XDE40 hybrids are now active out of MCH, including #9565 and #9566.

The lease on the five XE40 electric buses may have ended in June - 0011-0015 are all now off the property and are parked at Northeast Bus Rebuilders (source is a post on NYC Transit Forums).  The Proterra buses are still operating in Brooklyn.

Proterras will stay until 12/2021 at the earliest.

Confirmed on 4066. It's last day of service was on 7/2/21..

Also, MHV picked up: 3939, 3945, 3946, 3947 from Tuskegee.

MCH: 9563-9571 delivered.

No clue.  Plus Fresh Pond has now received 7851.. Bus could see service within a couple of days.

Some of those NG hybrids being retired are EVEN younger the the 1700s!

The 4000s are about the same age as the 1700s (and were pretty much delivered to the MTA at the same time), but the 4300s and 4400s came towards September of 2009.

Those 2009 buses being retired now are probably less reliable than the 2008 buses, or it could be buses that need a costly repair.

Well, I guess #3800-3959 were babied up for the most part compared to other NGs since they spent most of their lives in Manhattan, just like the 2004 and 2006 OG hybrids before them, although with the exceptions of #3813 and #3817, #3800-3812, #3814-3816, and #3818-3899 were originally from the Staten Island division while #3900-3959 were formerly from the Brooklyn division.
