The pivoting joint was split in the middle of the bus. I just saw a wider angle of the bus side which shows the opening of the pivoting joint. It could be that the rear end of 1020 can be saved something like what the MTA did with 5656 and 5658. I think it is repairable but its going to take a lot of money just to fix one bus. Maybe they'd order a replacement instead

It would appear that the MTA is no longer in the CNG business. Any future CNG buses in NYC will probably most likely come from NICE bus. However, I agree, they could save the rear section in case another XN60 gets into a wreck or fire, or even use parts of it to repair the XN40 that burned down out of JG depot last summer (#808). And these parts cost plenty money for the front half of the unit to get replaced according to Inside Edition news and the rear half of the unit is still in good condition. According to Inside Edition, eight passengers were among those injured, along with the driver. They were taken to hospitals with minor injuries, according to police and MTA spokesperson Tim Minton. The driver, who assisted the evacuation of passengers, sustained the most serious injury on his jaw but he's in stable condition.     Photo credit goes to (Marc A. RailBus63
I'm more interested in the 'how' and 'why' of this accident than the bus itself.  Initial comments from the investigators indicate that the bus was traveling between 17 and 26 MPH based on GPS - not sure how accurate that is, though (GPS unit accuracy can vary greatly from bus to bus). I suspect we'll see the camera footage in the media before too long. It doesn't look good for the operator (supposedly he was on the last run of his shift, plus he reportedly refused a post-accident drug and alcohol test) but it's best to avoid a rush to judgment and make sure that other causes are ruled out. The vehicle itself can be replaced - given the stresses caused by having the front section hanging at an almost 90 degree angle downward while still connected to the rear half, I would be surprised if either section is salvageable. Artics aren't designed to bend that far that way! In that regard, luckily, there wasn't a building on that corner. EDIT: Now the operator has spoken out. Saying he made that turn hundreds of times before and the bus accelerated on its own. The MTA already stated the bus had no mechanical issues. NYC alone has thousands of New Flyer buses and I'm not aware of any reported instances of spontaneous acceleration with any New Flyer. Basically, it sucks to be this operator.

The base order for the R211A is 440 cars (so they will probably be numbered 4060-4499). The R211T gangway pilot is projected to arrive in April 2022. The R211S Staten Island pilot is projected to arrive in August 2022, with 75 production cars starting delivery in October 2023.  1

I'm not perfect, I may have missed a bus or two. 2. They obviously have not finished shuffling buses around as there are numerous garages that are conspicuously absent right now. I'll publish another more updated list tomorrow night. 3. There are certain depots that I do not check/buses that i may have missed simply because the snow loan is not significant (ex. if any Orion 7 NG loaning goes on within Brooklyn, I am not wasting my time keeping track of those since what difference does it make if ENY sends one Orion next gen to join the 65 other NGs already at FB...). Rule of thumb is that if the move is not obvious or if it doesn't change anything really, then I won't be listing them beyond leaving a general note. 4. Presently, 8417 is doing the 7 train shuttle, ,but it should be going to GH..
