2843? Which route? I haven't seen 2843 in service in a long time.

Speaking of flipdots, I rode 2848 and 2859 recently, both seemed to be in tip-top shape. 2209 is still OOS, but reportedly they are fixing it. Since the first order of Prevosts is 29 buses, and there are 32 (33?) flipdots, my bet is the three that will stay will be 2209, either 2848, 2858, or 2859 (all three of these run rather frequently), and one 29xx (possibly 2905 or 2907, those two run the most)

Are all the first batch of Prevost's going to the bus company or will some go to transit? If all going to bus company then they can easily take all the flip dots out. 7 flip dots are remaining in transit which are all at Yukon in SI.

The first batch (just over 20 coaches) will be going to MTAB.

The NYCT batch will be delivered between Fall 2020 and Spring 2021.

Here's something to think about, by the way:

If 2020 Prevosts take over the D4500CLs at CH, then send the D4500CLs to CA (because then, CA's fleet would be the same mechanically), and send the 2015 Prevosts to one of the following places:

  • MV to run on the M98, and officially make the M98 an express route (with some minor routing changes)
  • UP to supplement the 2012 Prevosts
  • MQ to be able to have Airport Express buses from Manhattan

They're supposed to retire Charleston's D4500CLs.

I feel it;'s worth noting that the batches are probably moot at this point, they would have just blended together into a seamless nonstop stream of Prevosts being delivered, and the schedule could very easily be thrown off. I probably shouldnt have bothered putting them up anyway.

I'm not sure what's going on with the 2001-02 MCI retirement micromanaging but that's not how they retire buses. If there is a mechanically sound 2001-02 and a 2005-2007 that's a shop queen who just recently shit the bed, the 05-07 is going before the 01-02.

ah so flipdots could stay around for a while?

If by a while you mean that they won't be retired immediately, then that's probable. But they'll still be retired fairly soon.

Ok.

About the future electric bus order:

Recently, I was out fanning proterras, and I met a dispatcher and decided to ask about new buses.

The MTA will get:

  • Proterra ZX5s
  • New Flyer XE40s
  • BYD K9M
    • may be a test fleet
  • Nova LFSe+
    • unclear, may be a single test bus

In addition, the MTA may get BYD K11Ms, because one was ghosting routes in the Bronx, according to this dispatcher.

According to him, UP is also testing a 2020 MCI D4500CT (diesel). It is as of yet unnumbered and untrackable, although it will probably be numbered either 0024 or somewhere in the 005x series. This could mean D4500CTHs in the future, although I'm not sure.

He also said that when/if the MTA gets electric coaches, they will PROBABLY be MCI and/or VanHool.

I don't know, I just saw it being towed onto the Williamsburg Bridge

Most likely since the R46s are going to retire in a few years from now. It honestly does kinda looks repairable if this had happen like 10 years ago.

The R211 contract is in serious jeopardy go getting axed as is the R262 contract. The MTA had recently notified their biggest vendors about their budget crisis (i.e. Alstom, Kawasaki, New Flyer, Novabus, etc). So this is not set in stone, and if a second lockdown were to occur, who knows what will happen...

0022 is at KB.

@Orion6025 is there any chance it will test on KB's artic routes? (Bx1, Bx2, Bx9, Bx15, some Bx12 trips)

The Bx12 runs are only during the summer so no.

The Bx1, 2, 9, and 15 are all fair game. Each of those routes see quite a few standard 40-ft buses during the AM and PM rush hours.

It got moved to LGA now for some reason, so we'll see. Personally, I'd like to see it test in three phases - one in Manhattan (MHV or MJQ), one in Brooklyn (FP or ENY), and one in Staten Island (YU or CA) to test how the newer hybrids did there. The NG HEVs didn't do so well, but the LFS HEVs might. Also, maybe testing on the S89 for the highway portion.

EDIT: There is a chance that the TA might send some to the BX as a test, but I would say probably, at least the first batch, won't go there. Also, what is replacing MTAB's 2004-05 OGs? XDE40s? And when it comes time for the 2007 OGs (68xx, 37xx) to retire, what will replace those?

Ok just heard from a friend that 6728 is at WF...I have no clue why (or HOW) this happened, but it apparently has.

Also, 6692 is now at Quill.

Could be there for work. Remember, West Farms used to have a huge fleet of Orion 7 OG CNGs until a year or two ago..

BTW, some 2007-2008 Orion 7.501 Next Generation Hybrids (#3800s) are coming to MTA bus company. IIRC, JFK depot now has #3803, #3804, #3807, and a few more to replace their 2005 Orion 7.501 OG hybrids ( that also came from NYCTA last year). A couple dozen more 2005's have been retired recently with buses #6505, and #6603 being among them. At this rate, I can see all 2005 Orion VII buses being retired by year's end (even though nothing new is expected to come in, but largely due to reduced transit usage overall and a surplus of buses, so expect a fleet size reduction in the near future (even if there are no cuts!!!)).

The LFS Hybrids are expected to come in starting in November-December.

So, MHV and MJQ are in line to get LFSHEVs first i guess...

The R211s were gonna replace the 32s, 44s, and 46s, right?

In terms of the 62s, they seem to be in tip-top shape!

Is this all Quill or a combo of MHV and quill?

That is so sad... I am assuming they will stay until the first few XDE40s and/or LFS HEVs come in. Is this correct?

Mostly Quill but IIRC 3860 came from Manhattanville

This is a wait-and-see type of situation

Just got word that 9510 is at ENY, so they may have a few weeks left! I’m REALLY happy I caught 6498 before it retired!

I wonder when 0022 will become 9620 and enter revenue service! Supposedly 9621 is at Secaucus, but idk. I might go out there and see sometime soon. For all we know, it may still be in Canada.
