I placed an order for close to a thousand dollars worth of stuff from one of my suppliers last week.  Everything is claimed to be in stock on the website.  All the machine generated emails came through as expected, the credit card I specified got charged, the UPS shipment notifications came through as normal so everything looked good at first glance except for the UPS shipment notification which said 1.2 lb for the weight.  That's not right.  One of the items in the order alone weighs a couple of pounds alone so something's wrong with the shipment weight.

Got a delivery notification while I was at football practice last night so my bigger concern was being porch pirated before I could get home despite there being a strong incentive against that sitting out front.  Anyways, the package was still there when I got home and, sure enough, as soon as I pick it up, I know the shipment's incomplete.  Way too light.  Open the box and read the packing list and all three items were listed but only two were present.  Check the order online.  Everything's listed.  Check all the documents and find that the missing item's listed as a quantitiy of 1 in the "Qty B/O" column on the invoice and nowhere else anywhere is there any mention that it's frigging back ordered.  If you only looked at the packing slip and compared it against what was present in the box, you'd be excused for hitting the ceiling.

If it isn't in stock and on back order from the manufacturer, say so.  This rinkydink ship a partial order and then place a manufacturer order for the out of stock items business is nonsense and it's the second time they've done that.  I thought the first time was a one off until now but obviously there's a reason for the price difference between them and the other places I deal with on some things.  The ones that are cheaper are because they're not being carried in inventory despite what the website says about being in stock and they don't incur and pass on any stock keeping costs.

Yes.  Just like I thought.  A backorder confirmation email showed up this morning.  The estimated ship date field says July 15-22 so about a month from now and slightly over a month from when the order was placed.  So much for "In stock" and "Ships within 5 days".

This is the second time they've made specific claims about inventory and then pulled a surprise backorder so I'm not too pleased.  If I use this company again, I'm going to phone it in instead of ordering online so I can quiz someone about inventory status first before committing an order.

Adult headaches.  Oh to be a busketeer hunting for Orion 7s...

Some people decided now (nearly 2 am) is the perfect time to have a screaming match (girl voice shouting "leave me the fuck alone!", "I'll fucking kill you!", etc) out on one of the nearby neighborhood streets. This didn't sound like a victim screaming for help (at least I hope it wasn't that), but rather someone who got into a VERY heated argument/fight with someone they know (granted, the 2 aren't mutually exclusive).

Happens here all the time. Usually on the sidewalk right outside my bedroom window. And one would think, being on a sidewalk and all,  that they would keep moving along with their argument, but no, just stand there in one place for what seems like hours. Both parties are usually always inebriated, and the female always has a shrill grating voice. So annoying.

Internet went down twice in a month. Rodent chewed the cable the first time, and the second time was an incorrect application. We're on our third cable, and we had to move the setup to fit the cable.

I swear every time I go for a drive that isn't going to work, the gym or grocery store, I come home with a story about something messed up I see.

I'm coming home from outside of downtown to the suburbs. The highway is at a gridlock so I decided to go through a sketchy part of town and use surface streets to get home. I'm almost to the end of it before it turns to an industrial area and a major intersection when I get to a red light. I'm in the right lane and there's this guy (probably 30s or 40s) beside me walking on the road even though there is a sidewalk next to him. Assuming under the influence of something, He walks by every car and does some inappropriate gestures and flipping them off. He gets to my car and he tries to get my attention. I had no interest in seeing what he was going to do so I kept looking straight and he gets aggravated. He does more gestures, flips me off multiple times and nearly gets close to my car. Finally the light turns green and I go. I look at my rear mirror and he's just standing there screaming, flipping me off along with the gestures to me and the other cars. While I've seen my fair share of shit, it annoys me that this happens regularly, whether I'm in a sketchy area or not. I always ask myself where the cops are? Shouldn't they be patrolling or passing these areas to keep order? Oh wait I found them this morning, a bunch of them doing photo radars instead.

Wait till you get older... I don't even have to leave home to see messed up shit. There's a room-mate (app) for that LOL...

Seriously though, a lot of mental illness around, and if the person is not in immediate danger, or a serious danger to themselves or others, they are mostly just out and about doing their 'shtick'.

The other day, I got a "credit" that was deposited into my bank account. The first one is at $186.50CDN.

Does anyone have any insight about that "credit" (or refund)?

I know we got HST credit and Carbon Tax Rebates a couple of days apart not long ago.

i volunteer at thrift store and the donation we get boggles my mind. Example a Wii U gets donated without the gamepad (lets you play the game without the tv) this Wii U is E waste now.

That is a mistake for two reasons (at least):

1. Put it on sale for a dollar or so, income for the charity

2. Someone just might need that item to replace a broken/missing one.

I would simply legitimately mark it as an unfinished item and price it accordingly. Somebody might have the viewscreen and need the DPad, or yes, need it for spare parts. E-waste should only be created if it's unavoidable.

All summer long, my work has been writing off cases of water for employees to use, especially during the brutal heat spells. Recently, a directive has come down from above saying this is not permitted, nor was it ever, and stickers have gone up saying that the water is for sale and not for employee use.

The depths to which corporate greed will sink will never not fail to astonish me. The way these people go on, you'd think we were writing off 2 L bottles of soda and bags of chips! Our store lets shoplifters walk out routinely without raising a finger to stop them, and they give away refunds and discounts, even when they make no sense and are disputed by the cashier, like they're candy, but supplying water so that people don't get heatstroke in the summer is where we draw the fucking limit? Absolutely outrageous.

A human being would be able to write the water off as a cost of doing business, but I guess that would make us communists or something. In Europe, cashiers get seats and it's accepted that when there are no customers to assist, they will socialize or go on their phone in full of view of people passing by, but here we balk at writing off $4 cases of water. Truly fucking disgraceful.

2000 PC Optimum points for fuelling twice at Esso looked like a good deal and my Optimum card is linked in the Speedpass app.

Visit 1:  Receipt says to call member services.  Visit 2:  receipt says to call member services.  I call member services and get a spiel about how they don't integrate with Speedpass anymore.  They can only adjust one of the receipts.  Neither will be valid with the promotion which ends today.  I told them not to bother.

What I did do was work back through my own records and the de-integration between Optimum and the Speedpass app had to take place between June 20 and August 26, and was not communicated by email.  If you used the app during the period of the promotion, you not only didn't get the base points but also won't collect the 2000 bonus points which equates to a promotion of $2.  That's pretty scammy, but then when you collude to fix the price of bread and collect millions of federal subsidy money for new fridges, parting with $2 a head for customer incentives would be pretty vulgar, wouldn't it?

Something I don't get. A number of my former colleagues gave birth less than a few years ago. A number of them already settled up Facebook pages for their kid. Is this really necessary? Can the kid decide when they are old enough to decide if they want to be on social media or not? One of my colleagues just had a kid no more than two months ago and she already set up his profile with baby pics and his profile pic is him in his crib along with dozens of posts. We know that's he far too young to post, comment and reply and it's the parents using it and acting like its him. Like why? I already see the photos on their own personal accounts, I'm just seeing duplicates. Like I said earlier, let the kid decide on their own when they get older if they want to be on social media or not. You have a child for the sake of parenting, not something to show off. I swear people got tons of free time when I ain't got none!

School District is stupid for doing this. Let me elaborate.

Instead of offering more driver perks like Union and paid holidays, they complain that they don't have enough drivers. For $15/hour for new drivers and $20/hour for retired people coming back to work, it's a nightmare that they don't have more drivers.

My driver arrives a full 12 minutes late, and the moment he arrives, we have to file out at near-light speed for him to be able to make his next route, which starts at 7:50 AM. He's dropping off my route at that time, which takes an even 10 minutes. It takes 30 minutes for him to get to his next route. So the middle school kids are already 50min-1hr late to THEIR school while us high-schoolers have to nearly sprint to class to avoid getting marked tardy and getting in trouble.

Really wish the school would clean up and stop bitching at everyone. Before Covid it was a bus shortage (Even with 180 buses), DURING Covid it was not enough Launch teachers (They could just make the other teachers work from home), and now it's a driver shortage. But you have no problem hiring a CHARTER for the FOOTBALL TEAM!

Shame to know my taxes are going to be wasted on three-week shoulder repairs for a simple 50-ft section, bad schools with worse education and sh!tty graduation stats (Only 200 seniors out of almost 1k graduated), and sh!tty roads. COUNTY DOES A BETTER JOB THAN THE CITY!

Fifteen an hour!!!! That is almost slave wages when you consider that your state's minimum is $11.15 an hour. Plus they are hauling school kids, they need to pay more to get better-qualified applicants. Oops, end of rant.

Might be a little random, but given all the LRT construction, this has only exacerbated this problem to me that annoys me to no end... Why are the MOST DANGEROUS vehicles allowed to have safety compromised tail lights, where both the turn signal and breaklight is on one shared fixture (and is only red), and for dump trucks, no third breaklight either? This already happened once before, but a Truck will go 100km/h on a hwy, then they will activate their hazards about 500m away from the site with no other lane to merge to pass. Because they're shared signals, when he activates his hazards, ALL of his break lights are disabled, and the only way you can tell he is stopping, is how fast you catch up to him in the shortest amount of time... of course this applies to cars, vans and pick up trucks too, which is most common on American vehicles and European companies that couldn't get away with having a red, shared brake light and turn signal in Europe thanks to EU regulations that mandate separate, amber turn signals. I hope Transport Canada one day mandates similar tail lights to the EU. If the video isn't obvious as to why it is a safety compromise, then here's a YouTube video: https://youtu.be/O1lZ9n2bxWA
