Yes.  Charles III became king the instant his mother passed away:

Quote

With her death, her eldest son Charles, the former Prince of Wales, will lead the country in mourning as the new King and head of state for 14 Commonwealth realms.

"The King and the Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow."

He will be known as King Charles III.

That was the first decision of the new king's reign. He could have chosen from any of his four names - Charles Philip Arthur George.

Charles has become head of the Commonwealth, an association of 56 independent countries and 2.4 billion people. For 14 of these countries, as well as the UK, the King is head of state.

These countries, known as the Commonwealth realms, are: Australia, Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, Belize, Canada, Grenada, Jamaica, Papua New Guinea, St Christopher and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, New Zealand, Solomon Islands, [and] Tuvalu.

Sorry if I sound annoying but wasn't there someone else going to be King before Charles III?

Nope.  As Queen Elizabeth's oldest son, the former Prince Charles has been the heir to the throne since his mother became queen in 1952.  In turn, Prince William, Duke of Cornwall and Cambridge, is now the heir apparent to the throne of the United Kingdom and the fourteen other Commonwealth Realms, followed by his three children.  Each realm has its own laws regarding the line of succession, including Australia's Succession to the Crown Act 2015 (No. 23 of 2015), Canada's Succession to the Throne Act, 2013 (S.C. 2013, c. 6), New Zealand's Royal Succession Act 2013 (2013 No 149), and the United Kingdom's Succession to the Crown Act 2013 (2013 c. 20).  These laws all agree with one another, according to the Perth Agreement of 2011, and King Charles is the monarch of each country separately, according to the Statute of Westminster 1931 (22 Geo. 5., Ch. 4; 1931 c. 4).

The succession to the throne has passed automatically to the monarch's heir since Henry VII became king of England in 1485, when Parliament enacted that "the inheritance of the crown should be, rest, remain and abide in the most royal person of the then sovereign lord, King Henry VII, and the heirs of his body lawfully coming."  The practice that the Crown passes immediately to the heir dates back even further, when the Royal Council proclaimed in 1272: "The throne shall never be empty; the country shall never be without a monarch," and there is never an interregnum, based on the law of le mort saisit le vif, or "the king is dead, long live the king!"

All of these laws work together to ensure that the monarchy continues through the generations and, with a few hiccups along the way (the War of the Roses, the House of Tudor, the Glorious Revolution, etc.), the Crown has passed from king to king to queen to king for hundreds of years.

God Save the King.

A lot is going to change now that Charles is king.  Anything that was "Her Majesty's" is now "His", such as HMCS for His Majesty's Canadian Ship.  Pierre Poilievre was just elected as the leader of His Majesty's Loyal Opposition here in Canada.  The Queen's Plate horse race is now the King's Plate.  I just ordered an uncirculated set from the Royal Canadian Mint because King Charles' effigy is going to be appearing on Canadian coins once the new coinage tools have been prepared--along with any other coins around the world on which the monarch is depicted--although there is debate about whether the King will appear on Canada's upcoming new $20 bill.  And during King Charles' accession proclamation in St. James's Palace, I noticed that there was a throne with EIIR embroidered on it in the room, so that will need to change too.  We are in for some interesting changes, indeed.
