If anything, it would be easier to open the east end of the line first, not the west. Not as much signalling, and fewer life safety and elevating devices to worry about. Of course, there is the minor issue of not having a maintenance facility to worry about.... But the fact of the matter is that there are quite a few stations that right now are pretty damn close to the critical path of the project that would preclude any particular section of the line being available for revenue service sooner than the rest. For all of the progress that they've done at Weston and Keelesdale, they are still excavating at Fairbank. Oakwood is a dirt hole in the ground.
