Seashore_518203 Posted March 4, 2013 Report Posted March 4, 2013 Bumping an old thread ... there are only two Classics active according to a fleet list obtained from Fredericton Transit. Only 8941 and 8961 are active. Also the wiki lists 8113 when in fact it is numbered 8121.

gmnewlook Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 Has anyone been to their garage? Where is it located? I'm going with my wife and kids to Saint John to visit her stepfather and going to the Fredericton Transit garage is on my "to-do" list, as well as going back to Saint John Transit and Codiac Transpo to see their new garage. I still have my contact info for the latter two. Thanks.

armorand Posted May 28, 2013 Report Posted May 28, 2013 I wonder about the ridership of this system, actually. Can someone fill me in on that one possibly?
Kitpu Posted May 29, 2013 Report Posted May 29, 2013 The garage isn't hard to find. If you're coming from the Westmorland Bridge, simply turn right past Pizza Hut, and left at the lights. It's on the right hand side on St. Mary's Street about a 3 minute drive up. Large parking lot and fairly new rebuilt garage. You can't miss it. I hail from Fredericton and often still visit.
gmnewlook Posted June 14, 2013 Report Posted June 14, 2013 Thanks Kitpu for the useful info. Although I couldn't find it with Google Maps, so at least I know now how to get there.

general682002 Posted June 18, 2013 Report Posted June 18, 2013 If I'm not mistaken, Fredericton is getting one of the new Nova LFS with no rear window and 4th generation rear end.
Kitpu Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 Yeah, a friend of mine was saying they're getting a new bus.
gmnewlook Posted July 3, 2013 Report Posted July 3, 2013 Do you know when they're going to receive it? Hopefully for me it will be in by the 1st week of August. That's the week we're visiting my wife's stepfather in Saint John, so it's only an 1h29 drive from his house to the garage.
huz66511 Posted July 3, 2013 Report Posted July 3, 2013 There was an LFS on the production line when the BHA visited the factory on June 13. I would guess it would be in Fredericton by August.

ROSeaboyer Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 New member here, living in Fredericton. As far as I can tell, 8921 is not retired (I was on it within the last month) but it looks like 8961 might be, as I've not seen that bus around in quite some time. I do have license plates for some of the newer buses (from observing them when they're driving around): I'll post those up in the next little bit if people would like.

Formerly from Fredericton with frequent visits! Welcome.
ROSeaboyer Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 As a correction to my last post, 8961 is also active, leaving Fredericton with 3 Classics. In fact, some of the Classics seem to be a smoother ride than the RTS buses; both of which are only used during rush hour or when another bus breaks down. Another quick tidbit about Fredericton's RTS buses: in my experience, only 8981 still has the original tape to call a stop; the others were converted to a chain at various points.
ROSeaboyer Posted August 16, 2013 Report Posted August 16, 2013 Hey everyone. As an update, Fredericton Transit has at least one brand new LFS, numbered 8131. Not sure what bus it's replacing and I unfortunately didn't have the chance to take a picture of it.

ROSeaboyer Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 When did they acquire that? I just looked at the budget for this year, and they have a 5 year lease on one new 40ft bus. In addition, it looks like they are going to be buying two 25ft buses to replace 8921 (unless I misread it...)
Kitpu Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 Hmm. I'll have to take a trip to Fredericton sometime soon.
Kitpu Posted August 30, 2013 Report Posted August 30, 2013 Not Fredericton Transit related, but still bus related. I was told today that Maritime Bus's new terminal is on Dundonald Street, where the Enterprise (?) car rentals used to be, by Quiznos. Regardless of whatever mistakes MB has made in the past, they made a good move by moving their depot to a central downtown location instead of up at the top of Hanwell where Acadian Lines was located.
TheMaritimeMan Posted February 21, 2014 Report Posted February 21, 2014 Hi all, new Fredericton-based member here. In the 6 months that I've been using the buses, I've never seen 8921. Its wiki page states that it is retired, so it's probably safe to say that is true. Fredericton's page still states it as active, so that should probably be updated. (I would do it myself, but I don't have the rights.) This sadly leaves Fredericton with only two Classics, 8941 and 8961. I had the opportunity to ride 8961 a couple of days ago. Aside from a heavily-vandalized internal engine compartment cover, it looks good. I last rode 8941 a month or so ago. Most, if not all of the RTS buses are still in service. This week I rode 8982 and 8021. Between September and December I rode 8981, 8983, and 8992. Trent
Kitpu Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 Hey Maritime Man! I was just in Fredericton the other day. My brother is a recently retired FT driver. Welcome.
TheMaritimeMan Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 Thank you Kitpu! I got to ride 8941 this morning, still looks good and the 6V92 sounds as good as ever. As luck would have it, I decided to have my sound recorder running in my bookbag on the off chance I caught an older bus, but unfortunately my microphone settings were wrong, and it sounds like crap. Would've been good too since there weren't many people on and I sat in the very back. Maybe next time.
ROSeaboyer Posted February 25, 2014 Report Posted February 25, 2014 I've seen 8921 a few times, but the last time I saw it was last summer. It might've been retired since then, as there were issues with the stop signal not working properly I believe.
