Especially some transit agencies like TTC open the windows which circulate air. When you have an air purification system, it minimizes the amount of viruses and bacteria. Rather than having to manually wipe down surfaces from time to down and nightly at the yard. The shuttle makes 13 stops on its route, which is serviced from 6 a.m. until 12:30 a.m. on weekdays and includes limited weekend service from approximately 7:30 a.m. until 12:30 a.m. The Homewood-Peabody-JHMI shuttle is the most frequented route among JHU's shuttle routes—prior to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, it carried an average of 5,500 passengers each weekday. Current ridership is about half that total. Earlier this month, Johns Hopkins Transportation Services announced temporary modifications to the Homewood-Peabody-JHMI shuttle service to address service interruptions caused both by mechanical issues due to the age of the current bus fleet and staffing issues with the current service provider. The university brought in additional buses on a temporary basis to ensure reliable, uninterrupted service. The new buses are currently being inspected and equipped with Transloc, cameras, passenger counters, and decals in preparation for their debut next month. A full complement of dispatchers and drivers are being hired and trained, and a new schedule has been posted to the Transportation Services website. LTCBusRider15 Posted January 25, 2022 Report Share Posted January 25, 2022 (edited) The London Transit Commission announced their 2022 service plan and Route 36 will be getting A and B branches and will be increased to run at 15 minute frequency. Route 36A will operate along the same alignment as the current Route 36 between Fanshawe College and the Airport and continue to serve the Industrial areas along Crumlin Rd, Cuddy Blvd, Page St, and Industrial Road. Route 36B will also operate between Fanshawe College and the Airport, however will serve the Industrial areas north of Oxford along Clarke Road, Huron St, Robin’s Hill Road and Crumlin Road. Service will be extended until 7:30 PM. Route 94 will be getting midday service at 20 min frequency just like what Route 92 had before they made to run only on peak periods. Route 104 will return in September as Fanshawe students will still be doing online learning for the rest of the semester. Regarding 104 not coming back until September is understandable. With some colleges and universities have in-class learning plans for a certain time, seems like Fanshawe would rather have online learning for the rest of the semester than half in-class and half online. Some people adjusting to the online learning approach. Spring semester, there is only a handful of students who are enrolled for courses that time period. I got say I am glad Route 92 is returning to service. It has been so busy on Route 16 lately. But however Route 95 does not start until September. Especially with very few transit agencies could ever achieve that kind of schedule without an hourly frequency. Depending on their ridership, availability of resources and budget. Orangeville Transit and Orillia Transit operate half hour frequencies when they run service. Of course they operate with very few buses to maintain their network versus London Transit Commission or LTC for short with a fleet of around 200 buses. I don't count TTC because they operate on a much bigger scale and the maximum frequency is every half hour along with ridership and density. It states there will be five expansion units and a certain amount of units to be replaced. Plus how the U-Pass or universal bus pass for post-secondary students has been extended for another year. There were plans to renegotiate the terms and the cost that would be included in tuition fees. Didn't think there was no opt-out option which was provided except during COVID-19 when classes were online only and if the student could provide proof they don't live in the service area, they can opt-out and get a refund for the cost. Especially with how the u-pass system works by pretty much making the full-time students pay the fee if they use the service or not to receive a volume discount along with the student union voting for or against the program. Weekend ridership increasing a lot faster than weekday. Especially when London Transit Commission has worked to eliminate hourly frequencies and more service where they can. I want to aedd that if this is seen by the rest of the transit industry as as whole, this could be a prescident in budgeting to not have hourly frequencies if it means that there's a guarantee if you will to have ridership increase. However, there are still agencies out there,, including where I am living right now in Oakvill e where they just seem to not want to budget for more than 60 minute freuqencies on routes, regardless on what day and what time of day. I doubt it'd change, but word goes around in the industry so I hope there's a chance that something like that can happen here or even in Burlington to further increase their service.
