A. Wong
Probably lost air pressure and this caused the park brakes to apply fully. Terrible place for that to happen, right in the middle of railroad tracks...
1604
From what the media was saying it wasn't stuck on ice specifically, rather the brakes failed and locked to the 'on' position, so the bus wouldn't move (if it was ice I'd imagine the other bus would have managed to move it on the first try, instead of having to repeatedly ram it and barely get anywhere) Yeah, I read that, but wouldn't there be some sort of warning prior to them failing? LRT
Yeah, I read that, but wouldn't there be some sort of warning prior to them failing? Yes a low air buzzer could of came on, but it may of happend real quick and the bus could of been stuck in traffic

Vancouver
My aunt sent me a link to that article too... you think they would have tried to take the bike rack off first. It's probably mangled up now! 7706 was spotted this afternoon without it's bike rack Out of Service turning out of Anderson Station. Why they decided to use a bike rack bus yesterday, I have no idea, since there are so many other choices out there.

1604
Passenger emergency at 6st west on a 201. Train has been here for 10 minutes. Peace officers here talking to people. Sounds like a woman got punched in the face. Edit: as soon as I posted this it left.

1604
Pretty pathetic service in my opinion. At Anderson Station there aren't any clear signs telling you where to actually catch the shuttle. The only sign I saw was one right at the bus stop but it was mainly hidden behind a tree. They aren't running the artics in pairs, so they're pretty packed. On top of that, the bus waited about 8 - 10 at Anderson Station and left, literally, just as the next train was stopping. Entire trip down to Somerset I saw an amazing ....3.... other buses. I don't get why the CTrain replacement shuttles are so good when it's 7th ave that's closed, but so terrible when it's any other part of the line. I don't get why the CTrain replacement shuttles are so good when it's 7th ave that's closed, but so terrible when it's any other part of the line. There were 6 artics running on the 556 both days during the day, and considering the normal loads on the 201 for a weekend that's probably sufficient for a 60 minute round trip on the furthest end of the line. That said I rode it in the mornings only, so they probably were more packed than what I saw. I have to agree with you though, signage for the stop locations was pretty poor, and not just at Anderson. Also, not many bike-rack artics were used this time around- Saturday was 6060, 6062, 6053, 6038, 6044, 6047, and Sunday was 6062, 6049, 6031, 6040, 6024 (plus one other). So with 4 bike rack artics, which they usually try to have all out for ctrain replacement shuttles, only 1-2 were out per day.

It is pretty much a fluke if any run get's a 60 footer with a bike rack (Including the BRT routes). As you know, only 6060-6063 have bike racks and they do not park them in the garage seperate from the rest of the 60 footers. They are randomly parked amongst the rest of the 60 footers. LRT
I got a text from a freind who who driving bus and he said it was very hush hush Its not the first time it happened there, just goes to prove they need to move the signal north to the platform, that way if a train runs a signal it stops way before the switches. Any idea if it was a u2 or a SD160?

LRT
Apparently it was full of people from the hockey game. There was also a minor derailment in the yard at OBMF Monday afternoon (SD160 S-7) they had that fix up within a few hours.

It would have been nice if they had put in all powered switches in that yard. With so many manual switches, it seems we can't go a 3 weeks without someone running a switch in the OBMF yard. People just need to learn to pay attention to their switches....
