54 hasn’t gotten the update yet. My buddy update the signs

I probably got it confused with the 59. Like 40/41, the 54 and 59 shared a similar service area. The 54 and 59 also often have a XD60 so that might have been what confused me.

Winnipeg Transit 252 on Route 24 to Polo Park. Not too common to see D40LF's on the local 24 these days, especially with the lack of Portage & Tylehurst trips at the end of rush hour.

Wonder why the 24 still runs as an express Monday to Saturday days and local Sundays and M-S evenings. Other routes that were like that have long been split into new routes such as the 65/66.

My guess is that it's because the express 24 doesn't really skip any stops that the local 24 observes, because the local 24 only goes to Polo Park. With the 62 and 70 for example, the 62 did skip stops that the 70 observed, same thing with the 65 and 66. Except of course, there's also the 67 and 79, which is similar to the 24 in that, 79 is basically a local 67 that only goes to Polo Park, but they are separate routes. Though unlike the 24 express, the 67 wasn't created until the mid-90's, while the 79 already existed before then.

Fun fact the reason there was a 70 was cause people kept getting the 62 local and 62 express mixed up.

Noticed some new signs on certain routes such as the 28 and 54. Instead of having the destination on a separate sign, it is displayed underneath the route name. I find that is easier to see and probably saves wear and tear on the signs. I wonder if all buses can display two lines on the front sign.

Do you mean "stacked" like Vancouver?

A group of 10+ employees of businesses in and around Seasons of Tuxedo went to Kevin Klein to complain that R677 ends too early at 10:15 PM. In response, Klein put forward a motion at the Assiniboia community committee seeking urgent action by IRPW that R677 service hours be extended sometime past 10:45 PM, specifically, "beginning May 6, 2022".

He also wants to blow the doors open on the advisory committee by subjecting their proceedings to the same livestreaming/DMIS/delegations that one would expect of other components/committees of council. http://clkapps.winnipeg.ca/DMIS/permalink.asp?id=A20220427(RM)AC-12

Looking at the schedules, I think all they'd need to do is add 1 extra round-trip to the night 677 to accomplish that goal. Though, it would be nice if it and the other 600 routes ran past midnight, especially the 600's that replaced older routes that ran past midnight.

Indeed. Weekday service on the route the 677 replaced (the 84), which ran until 11:30, wasn’t even targeted by the hit list.

Another “cut” that was noticeable was that the 51 used to run until 1:30am on weekdays and now the 676 only runs until 10:30pm. Now after 10:30pm to get across the red river from u of m to st vital centre you either have to use on-request (which has been increasingly unreliable ever since the service zones were expanded) or go downtown and come back south.

Looks like the bike racks are finally coming back out, now that the snow is hopefully gone for good (hopefully I don't jinx it...). So far some of the 100-series LFR's and 400-series XD40's have them. None of the XD60's have them quite yet (at least, none of the ones on the road today).
