M.Wright
Well, it's better not to delay it because people have plan the date already! But, there will be optomestic at least! Sorry for the late reply but the date will not be change, I have everything planned out, but I've been busy with life but today I plan on paying for the charter after school and tomorrow I plan on doing up the waiver. I've been a bit busy with life so things have been delayed but for that reason, I am NOT changing the date. I'm one of those guys who can do stuff very quickly. So I should have the waiver ready by tomorrow and I will have the charter paid for by the end of today. That gives us a weeks notice. Also today I'm going to do the rest of the requesting stuff (garage tour, photos, ect.) Anyway I got to go so be back later. I thank you for your understanding. To SMS, so far it's a go, I'll know for sure by the end of the day once I pay for it.
M.Wright
Okay I got all the answers I needed and he got all the answers he needed. The deciding factor on if this is actually going to happen or not which is the only deciding factor is if we can get a driver or not. He told me I have till Monday to convince the guy to do it. So if I cannot convince him by Monday, then this might not happen. But anyway, as for photos, for the type of photography we're doing, it's not necessary to get permission, he said it's only if they want to shoot a movie, like the Hulk, we need permission and they need to see what content is included. Also he said that so many people take photos of buses along the Transitway anyway that special constables no longer really care unless a driver calls control which in turn control calls them (So we have made a slight impact in their attitude towards us, for the good) and as the only bus we will probably be photographing will be 8769, he said that there is no real need to get permission. The pickup and drop off because sadly they no longer allow group tours of the garages will be St. Laurent upper level at a unused stop. The Ottawa River Parkway that I plan on going on where buses usually don't go are apparently allowed so that's fine. However I am going to have to reroute the route through the Booth St and Somerset area as they have a ban on buses going through there so I might just use Bronson. I did get permission to use the rollsign to sign up routes as long as we stick a paper in the windshield displaying "Chartered" so we don't confuse people. I'll try to remove it for every photostop because it might ruin the photos aspects. So pretty much to sum this up, it all depends on if I can get the driver to drive for us. Also just as a heads up, we're going to do part of a recently cut in half route. But it's still a dead route so it is worthy of charterness. general682002
Man.. I really hope this driver you want to get does come through for us! Just cross your fingers! Convincing to the driver to drive the charter, is that the volunteer driver or reg. OC driver were talking about? As of the window card, might as well remove it whenever we go for photo stop, happens before.
Matt Demers
This would have been much easier if you paid the $700 instead....$400 brought you worryness because of the driver issue. Not blaming you here, but crap happens to everyone. But let's still all hope its a go!!!!

Not blaming you here, but crap happens to everyone. But let's still all hope its a go!!!! Next time I'll be way more prepared as now I know exactly what I need to do, I'll make sure I have $700 before I even start the planning. After all, this is kind of a learning experience for me. Anyway it's not looking good, I did contact a few others and unless they contacted the guy at OC Transpo without notifying me, it's really not looking good. Every driver I just asked I told them just to directly contact the guy at OC Transpo. Oh and that driver who didn't want to drive it cause it's a 87XX, turns out now he's going on vacation so he won't be here but he did change his mind though he can't change his vacation time. Right now any OC Driver can apply, we have till tomorrow morning. So all hope is not over yet, I really do not want to change the date or cancel so I got my fingers crossed. Though it looks like rescheduling might be the best option as this driver is willing to do it if I reschedule it to some date outside his vacation. At least then I'll for sure have a driver. And the time he gets a good MCI/Novabus Classic streak going, he gets a GM that dies before the start if the run. And so far, if no resources can be found, perhaps that would actually be the best idea (so far) is reschedule as you mentioned above. All my luck goes out to you. *Crosses finger* Point55. So my hands are pretty much tied as for rescheduling. I will have no say in making this is a go if I can't find a driver by tomorrow morning. So if I am forced to reschedule it, blame OC Transpo, not me. I tried my best to stick to this date but now it is out of my hands.

M.Wright
If there is no driver found for this Morning, move the date back, and everyone will be happy...we still want to go..."Rain or Shine"...in other words 'now or later'. I just called the guy asking if any of the drivers I asked contacted him, and as I got his message machine, we'll find out sooner or later once he calls me back. I just hope one of them did cause yeah... I really don't want to push this back as there can be charges for changed flights/trains. Though iirc Greyhound doesn't have any charges so that wouldn't be a problem but those people who decided to take the train or plane here, that is the people I am more concerned about. As for a changed date, I'm thinking of just moving it 2 weeks back to be on the safe side as the driver who is now willing to do it will defiantly be back from vacation by then. So September 27th is the fallback date. Reason why is then at least we'll have a driver and this will be a go. You won't believe how hard it is to find a driver for the GM Classics lol At least one thing I've learn't from this, either pay the $700 or charter something that drivers don't mind driving for the most part. Okay update: He called me back, we're going to put the September 13th on hold unless a operator calls him in the next few days, but I did give him the fallback date and it seems okay, they have a Sens game on the 27th but we're not going to have the bus that long so it's okay. So I wouldn't reschedule a flight or train just yet unless you have to do it within a certain time frame, then go ahead as I think this will probably happen now on the 27th as we really need a operator and if we switch to that day, we'll have a operator for sure. At least this is the only real old bus that bus drivers really hate, so any future charters will probably have no trouble getting a driver. That is how I like to look at the situation. So September 27th is the fallback date. This "Driver" ( ) I'm pretty sure answered a no to even take part of this charter, pretty much, he's not going to drive for you guys at all if he's on Vacation or not, because he sees OC Transpo as a job, and isn't really into the whole 'Bus Enthusiast' thing. Sorry. Guess Mike will have to either try another way to find a driver who will volunteer, or just keep the running cost at $700(meaning we pay the driver) so people won't have to reschedule. Well, 2 weeks later..... anyone who lives in local Ottawa can wait. Anyone who's from Montreal, well, that's going to be a tough decision as it's only 2 hours to drive. But for anyone from TO, more likely not. However for me, that I'm going to wait and see on how my other commitment goes. For now, I'll just use my Dogpound bus I've paid and ride Saturday service. You already bought yourself a ticket to Ottawa? Gosh, it already seems such a waste. EDIT: If your still coming to Ottawa, their MAY be an adventure that will take your mind off of the Charter, but it depends if the Charter is a go or not. I still have to talk with the other 2 that are coming with me to this place, and we kinda planned this for just the 3 of us if the Charter doesn't happen. It's still better then photographing Inveros, or a D40HF. Point55.

In fact I think he should be given quodos for at least tring to get this charter done and booked. If it happens, it happens, if not oh well those things happen, at least he tried. Canadian National
Alright, I got it. In case we do not find a driver for the charter, and has to be moved to another date (September 27, 2008) this is what may happen on the day of the charter, in case some of you out-of-towner's have already booked a trip to Ottawa. (Option 1) We will either go to a yard that has all four STO Orion II's and STO GM Classic 8603 and get pictures, and yes, go inside 'em. Orion II: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3031/283688...4dee549.jpg?v=0 8603: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3072/283688...7f13942.jpg?v=0 Copyright to Cogeno of both pictures. (Option 2) Another one that Me and Cogeno are working on, is a Tour of the STO Garage, to make up for the postponed Charter. If Mike or Hurdmanhugz can find a driver by Thursday, the Charter is on. If not, we will do one of the activities listed above. Meeting place, and time will be determined later & a lunch stop will happen, so we don't starve. Point55. Cogeno
Yeah, I'll be sure to give STO a call regarding that tomorrow. Thing is, is that I know there aren't many people there on the weekends. Even if we don't get a tour, I'll at least try to see if we can get some pics. M.Wright
There is still hope for a September 13th charter, hurdmanhugz's dad knows a driver who could possibly drive for us, we have till Thursday to find us a driver and if we can't, at least there might be a STO event. Reason for Thursday is because the volunteer driver will have to drive 8769 to St. Laurent on Friday. So that is the first event they have to drive. So that should be easy as all they have to do is get to Pinecrest, pickup 8769 and drive it to St. Laurent. I guess I should get a waiver ready just in case Sept 13th is a go and I sure hope it is, I got some stuff I need to do on the 27th.

For the out of towners, this indecision is becoming frustrating. People have to book hotel rooms, make bus reservations, etc. and it is hard to do when we keep on having to wait to see whether or not the charter will happen. Some of us may not have computer access on Thursday or Friday night so we will not be able to see the late postings as to whether this is actually happening or not. If it does happen, can you please post the proposed departure time from St. Laurent Station? Kevin

mtltransitguy
I really hope you guys learn after this charter. Thank You for trying so hard, and congratulations for being the first people to have lost their marbles and want to undertake such a venture! Unfortunately, OC Transpo is very idiotic with their charters and believes they are the tops, I still can't get over the price tag, so no one can blame you for that! At least now you know... I do have to admit that it is a little crazy finding out a couple of days before the charter if it will happen or not. IMO it might be a better idea to just push it back and save many people the trouble.
