MCIBUS2000 Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 Thank you as well, looking forward to see it! As well you get to meet other members of the forum. I meet a few from the OC group.
SMS Posted July 8, 2008 Author Report Posted July 8, 2008 Another reply from charter organizer Mike Wright Actually the photo stop you want in hull, I already put that into the plan. Just letting you know it's going to happen, but as for that 417, I do have plans to go on it, just I don't plan on going on it all the time when we can take the scenic route. Though I can tell you off hand from dead heading experience on a 87XX Classic, they don't go that fast on the highway. Your lucky if you can get it up to 100.I am still doing up the route so if anyone wants to incorporate anything else into the route, speak up now. I already plan to go on one portion of the Ottawa River Parkway that buses aren't allowed without NCC Permission so if anyone wants to go on a Parkway in Ottawa, as I will need permission from the NCC anyway may as well hit some other parkways too. If I can't get it then I have a alternative route.
SMS Posted July 13, 2008 Author Report Posted July 13, 2008 Updates from Mike Anyway I almost have the route planned out. Coming along well. Also I don't think billings will be the lunch stop anymore because I can't think up enough detours along route 11 to make it long enough so I'll have to pick a new location. The fun part of planning this though is if I get permission to drive the route on the Transitway, that shall be fun. I know for sure for the buses, I'm aiming for 8769 as it looks good in the new paintjob (old stripe) and as the backup bus, we're going to aim for 8775 [which] is in the stripe, so either way I'm aiming for a stripe now.
JCL Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 Updates from Mike If I may suggest something, Gloucester Centre (Blair Station) could be a lunch stop. It's a short walk. As well, the food court is located right where you enter the mall.
stm_5307N Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 Isn't the charter like 3 hours long? Why bother with a lunch stop!? That will cut into charter time....
Double T Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 If I may suggest something, Gloucester Centre (Blair Station) could be a lunch stop. It's a short walk. As well, the food court is located right where you enter the mall. I was just talking to mike & he will concider the idea but, this is in the opposite direction.
mtltransitguy Posted July 20, 2008 Report Posted July 20, 2008 If the charter is 3 hours, no need for lunch. I'm in btw.
M.Wright Posted July 25, 2008 Report Posted July 25, 2008 Okay seeing how SMS pretty much said everything, I just need to get some time to contact OC Transpo and then it's official. I've been a bit busy with my job recently and when ever I'm not working I'm trying to fit in some transit fanning. So I'll try to call them next week. I already called them but they never called me back so I'm going to call them again and now that I got the route, I can schedule it.
M.Wright Posted July 27, 2008 Report Posted July 27, 2008 Okay just a little update, I'm requesting everyone bring ID for identification purposes. It's nothing really, anymore questions about identification purposes feel free to ask them.

Especially for a bus charter... nobody that organizes charters does this!
leylandvictory2 Posted July 27, 2008 Report Posted July 27, 2008 instead of asking for an ID, you should ask people to sign a waiver so that they cannot sue you if anything goes wrong.
MCIBUS Posted July 27, 2008 Report Posted July 27, 2008 The questionn that should be asked Is it the person putting thids thing together or is irt OC that wants the ID? If its OC then there's nothing you can do about it.
Centralsmt Posted July 28, 2008 Report Posted July 28, 2008 The questionn that should be asked Is it the person putting thids thing together or is irt OC that wants the ID?If its OC then there's nothing you can do about it. Why would OC ask for ID? They never asked for ID's when I chartered a bus off them! By that logic they would be asking for id's for everyone who travels on their buses every single day.
general682002 Posted July 28, 2008 Report Posted July 28, 2008 No way man!! You have no right to look at are IDs! Especially for a bus charter... nobody that organizes charters does this! Exactly. I've been so many bus enthusiast charter and never asked about my ID! That's not how you run a charter. When that person shows up, you have a list of names on who's the person and check it off! As mentioned, waiver form will be a best solution so the organizer is not responsible if something happens. Please think about this, if your planning to do so by asking ID, people aren't going to come!
M.Wright Posted July 28, 2008 Report Posted July 28, 2008 Why? is our lunch stop at a bar?? not that i am objecting to anything. As much as I like that idea, no No way man!! You have no right to look at are IDs! Especially for a bus charter... nobody that organizes charters does this! Okay, then I'll scrap the ID idea instead of asking for an ID, you should ask people to sign a waiver so that they cannot sue you if anything goes wrong. I'll try pushing this one why on earth do you need to show an id? I was hoping to prevent someone by the name of "King of Kings" to go on the charter. He dislikes me and I especially dislike him. He will just ruin the charter. Everyone else is welcome as I got no problems with anyone else. The questionn that should be asked Is it the person putting thids thing together or is irt OC that wants the ID?If its OC then there's nothing you can do about it. OC might request it, though I doubt it, I plan on contacting them tomorrow. Why would OC ask for ID? They never asked for ID's when I chartered a bus off them!By that logic they would be asking for id's for everyone who travels on their buses every single day. No comment as I already mentioned above Exactly.I've been so many bus enthusiast charter and never asked about my ID! That's not how you run a charter. When that person shows up, you have a list of names on who's the person and check it off! As mentioned, waiver form will be a best solution so the organizer is not responsible if something happens. Please think about this, if your planning to do so by asking ID, people aren't going to come! I guess I'll scrap it. NO ID REQUIRED. I like the Waiver idea better. Any Complaints or Concerns now?
leylandvictory2 Posted July 28, 2008 Report Posted July 28, 2008 how do you want people to pay you? At the charter or in advance?
general682002 Posted July 28, 2008 Report Posted July 28, 2008 I like the Waiver idea better.Any Complaints or Concerns now? If you need more help, then I would talk to someone like SMS, he's done this charter few times already and he's very well experience with it. You still got time. how do you want people to pay you? At the charter or in advance? My recommend is to put a list of name for reservation to make confirmation if your coming. I usually pay up the day of the charter.
mtltransitguy Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 If you want to entice advance reservations do it a la YUL, and offer a discount for those that register early...in essence it is the same thing as charging more the day off, except in the second case, you don't loose any money. Waivers good, checking ID bad...people want to be anonymous...why do we all have such creative user names? Looking forward to a good charter... Is it still planned for Sep?
JCL Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 I was hoping to prevent someone by the name of "King of Kings" to go on the charter. He dislikes me and I especially dislike him. He will just ruin the charter. Everyone else is welcome as I got no problems with anyone else. FYI - King of Kings's is "Brennan Benoit". A few people on this board (including myself) have had our negative run-ins with him.
M.Wright Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 FYI - King of Kings's is "Brennan Benoit". A few people on this board (including myself) have had our negative run-ins with him. Your not alone on that one. The negative run-in for me almost involved the police. I know Brennan has interest in this charter so I'm expecting him to show up. I so think I should of called the cops as he could of got some jail time for what he did. Anyway on a serious planning note. I called OC Transpo today about this, the guy in charge of the charter planning is on vacation until the 19th of August and on his holiday message, he said they are completely booked until the 25th of August due to multiple festivals and as I will probably have to talk to this guy specifically, I guess I got my hands tied until the 19th of August. Speaking of the festival charters, I notice they just pull extras that would of already been out to run them, I'm going to make sure that doesn't happen for our charter as if this happens, we're probably looking at a Invero which would just be extremely boring and pointless. But then again, I doubt these people requested any specific bus whereas we are requesting a specific bus. Such a long wait time.... If you want to entice advance reservations do it a la YUL, and offer a discount for those that register early...in essence it is the same thing as charging more the day off, except in the second case, you don't loose any money.Waivers good, checking ID bad...people want to be anonymous...why do we all have such creative user names? Looking forward to a good charter... Is it still planned for Sep? Hmm I'll think about it, that might be a good idea as I can't do anything for this whole month. Yeah I'm going with waivers on second thought. Yep, aiming for the 13th as it's the closest weekend to the middle of the month and for me, 13 is a lucky number. Oh and if anyone wants to find the new D60LFs but don't have time to wait around for it, I noticed if you call 613-741-4390 which is our Transit Info number and ask them where a specific bus is (I usually ask for 6351 if I want the new D60LFs except everyday I call them, it's in the garage, talk about bad luck), they will tell you. Just a tip. That is how I found the EZ Rider demo we got even though I knew it would be on the 123, I just didn't know if it was out or not. But it does work, I tested that with a bus I saw out earlier one day, they nailed the info that they gave me.

M.Wright Posted August 2, 2008 Report Posted August 2, 2008 Correction: The phone number is 613-741-4390. Thanks, only one off for that 4, I probably meant to type that.
mtltransitguy Posted August 2, 2008 Report Posted August 2, 2008 Thanks, only one off for that 4, I probably meant to type that. Very interesting. Now how did you even discover this, and why do they even do that? I know you are not joking or anything, but it almost seems too good to be true, and who else would even use this feature? (Sorry for derailing)

Well, I've heard all about that guy. He's certainly causes absolute big stir with the hobby!
