M.Wright
Too bad the VI's are moving in quickly. That garage used to be all HFs with D40s, Classics, More Classics, and even more Classics. And if you were lucky, you'd see them mostly parked outside in plain view from the 417. Hopefully Mike now knows to focus more on the Photo Stops then the historic bus routes. That way, we save MORE time, and go to more places around Ottawa. Point55. Actually the historical routes weren't the problem, it was the fact I misjudged the amount of time we had. But I got some helpful tips to judge it more accurately.
MCIBUS
I'm surprised they're not moving all High Floors out of ST. Laurent N & S and leaving just leaving the Floors there? Considering SAT & SUN Services all come out of ST. Laurent N & S by doing it like that your going to have all routes low floor.

And this would explain why we're seeing D40HF's and Orion Vs out on Saturdays. (D40hf's from St.Laurent, and perhaps the V's from Merivale.) Point55. I was told that a while ago so it might have changed since then, if they need buses really bad they will transfer artics on Friday night from Merivale to St. Laurent if there is a event, or they just open it on Sunday sometimes
M.Wright
Last time I checked, Merivale was always opened on Saturdays for the extra Saturday service that OC provides, as Sunday service is always worse. I remember visiting the garage once on a Saturday and seeing buses going in and out.

I'll be out today to see what HF's I can find out in service. Point55.

OC Transpo 8238
What JCL said is correct. I was told by the former head mechanic at OC Transpo that retired 2 years ago that they will open Merivale for the Artics if need be or anything else that they need. If they need alot of buses then they just open the garage. It depends on what is going on on the weekend.

The two major special events where Merivale Garage was open on a Sunday (that I could remember) were: Grey Cup in 2004, and the Rolling Stones in 2005. But generally, Merivale Garage is closed on weekends.
M.Wright
Okay enough about what garages are opened and closed. Anyway I was doing some driving around Carleton and I decided to go down Library Rd expecting it to be closed but when I got close to the O-Train station, it was wide opened. It surprised me so I think it might of been opened when we did the charter, as I didn't pay any attention but we could of easily done the old loop at Carleton if this was the case. But it's wide open now. I was actually just doing the old route the buses used to take through Carleton in my van because I was extremely bored last weekend. There was no barricades or anything preventing me from completing what I set out to do, and that was to drive the old route.

I find it fascinating to see old signs that aren't used anymore (e.g. Ogilvie and Vanier) and ones that were never used at all (Canal, Osgoode and West Carleton). Ah, yes, I don't remember ever seeing that one either. It appears to refer to the VIA Rail station on Tremblay, though the Train Transitway station has never been used as a terminal. I wasn't trying to make an exhaustive list of unused headsigns, just a few examples.

I wasn't trying to make an exhaustive list of unused headsigns, just a few examples. Probably when they put in "Station/Gare" they were expecting to run a bus to the upper level, just like before the Transitway. Though the Transitway kind of made running a bus up there useless. So that is probably why there is no bus running up there.
