SMS
Mike Wright has approached me privately and asked me to serve as a consultant for a potential Ottawa bus fan charter featuring a 1987 GM Classic. Show of hands please... would anyone be interested in joining such an initiative which would be held on either a Saturday or a Sunday sometime this summer? general682002
Me too, but could it be Sept? Not on TTS Transportation Weekend on Labour Day Long weekend. I can say a good end of Sept or early Oct. will be nice to held.

Seashore_518203
Not on TTS Transportation Weekend on Labour Day Long weekend. I would also be interested depending on when it is held. As Sherman mentioned, TTS has their Transportation weekend on August 30th and 31st. Also, the Motor Bus Society is holding a convention in Oakville from October 17th to 19th, so I would stay away from that weekend as well. Mid September may be better than the summertime due to the fact that it is a non air conditioned bus. Kevin

SMS
I've warned Mike not to choose TTS Transportation Weekend. I had forgotten completely about the MBS convention and I'll advise him to schedule any date but these already taken. Anyway thanks for the show of hands everyone! This looks like it could be a fun event that at least breaks even. Based on what Mike determines what the OC Transpo charter rate is, we will see if a charter is financially feasible. I would like to come, but it will have to be on a weekend for sure. I could bring a car, but I would prefer to carpool if possible (Jan?) As long as there is at least 2 weeks notice, I can book the day off if need be.

My biggest question is, how many 87XX Classic left in service? Those new D60LF are not on the road yet as OC does take time to PDI from time to time. JCL
My biggest question is, how many 87XX Classic left in service? Those new D60LF are not on the road yet as OC does take time to PDI from time to time. Based on my communication last month with Fleet (Technical Services), the following GM Classics would be retired first are: 8779, 81, 83, 86, 90, 91, 95, 96, 98, 99. The following GMs that are scheduled for retirement this Fall are: 8769, 73, 75, 92, 93. Bus 8781 is the only GM Classic that have been retired this year In addition, there are also specific 1989 MCI Classics, New Flyer D40 (both 90 and 92 series) that have been scheduled for retirement this year. Ultimately, 46 buses will be disposed (based on the fleet numbers that have been provided to me).

SMS
Oh that's up to him to decide... but I doubt OC would be forthcoming. Besides isn't Pinecrest closed on weekends? I can't imagine that they'd want to keep it open one afternoon (or whatever) for US.
stm_5307N
Would visits to all three depots be included? Probably not as Merivale and Pincrest are close on weekends. Those 2 garages have all the old stuff too. That's leaves for a good bunch to chose from if this charter does happen.

general682002
So basically the plan is just to drive around on the bus all day? All it does is making several photo stops and possible to make a garage visit. The point is to try not to make things boring by yeah, riding around all day. I hope so too. I know there are few Ottawa fans do have some ideas by finding historic routes that's no longer in service that would make a good photo stop. In any charter, they do their best to accomondate for the stops and the visits. As YUL, TTS and other bus organization planning the charter as I've gone to, it's not easy! Also, it can't be guarantee if the bus they choose is not available and/or visit garages.
