mtltransitguy Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 Well can you expect Orleans to have fare equipment installed? Of course not, they can't have than screwed to their coaches, especially when it will be different buses everyday. I don't expect many people to be riding it "counter-flow", honestly, how many people need to get from Saint-Laurent to Vaudreuil AM and the reverse PM? If anyone, most of them are taking the Metro to Vendome, and taking the D-R train. Congratulations once again AMT, you really advertised the route well! How about some posters, and schedules so that people might know that it even exists, instead of thinking that you can get to Quebec City from Cote-Vertu. And who on earth would make the trek all the way to Vendome or LLA just to get tickets for this route...(trick question, me of course ). Let's see how this goes in the coming weeks.

Let's see how this goes in the coming weeks. Just as an FYI, schedules were mailed to everyone in Vaudreuil-Dorion, Hudson, St-Lazare, Les Cedres and other areas. It may not last more than three weeks. The contract between CITPI and Orleans Express is only for 3 weeks... Alex

It will be renewed or given to someone else if they decide the service should go on. It's 3 weeks, probably because they don't want to go all out and say let's go for 3 months, and then between now and then, something else works out...better to take it a few weeks at a time...more flexible.
kellergraham Posted September 5, 2008 Author Report Posted September 5, 2008 Orleans Express Bus 5601 was on the 18:45 departure this evening and has "CIT PRESQU'ILE - VAUDREUIL" on it's destination sign

David Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 Orleans Express Bus 5601 was on the 18:45 departure this evening and has "CIT PRESQU'ILE - VAUDREUIL" on it's destination sign Question: Where did the designation of 40 come from? Is it due to the fact that this bus runs on Hwy. 40? Just thought I'd ask.

Just thought I'd ask. That's exactly it. They also used that clever numbering for the Express Ile-des-Soeurs 10... Alex
mtltransitguy Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 That's exactly it. They also used that clever numbering for the Express Ile-des-Soeurs 10...Alex I'm not sure if it's clever or just lazy...what will they do if they create a service going EAST on the 40? Interesting about Orleans programming CIT-PI into their dest. Let's try and keep track about what is on it each day, post it here please so that it is easier to find rather than the impossible to search Sightings du Jour thread...post it there too if you like, but for easy access purposes, especially given the fact that this is a special case right now, please post it here (also)...let's see if they use the same units everyday and when they sign them up as what.

There's already a Route 40 going east on highway 40! It's ran by MRC Les Moulins! I'll be keeping track of these sightings in my CIT Roster Alex
kellergraham Posted September 9, 2008 Author Report Posted September 9, 2008 Orleans Express 5605 was on the 08:40 arrival this morning,

SMS Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 No need since they will never overlap. We're lucky that we don't have to worry about things like that a lot here.
mtltransitguy Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 No need since they will never overlap. We're lucky that we don't have to worry about things like that a lot here. Sure fine, but with their numbering system they number the routes according to the Autoroute they take...so we already have a West-End AMT 40, what would they do if they had an East-End AMT route that took the 40?
SMS Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 I'm sure Groupe Gauldreault would cry foul. MRC les Moulins and GORTC both offer express service on A40 and there shouldn't be a need for duplication of services.

MRC les Moulins and GORTC both offer express service on A40 and there shouldn't be a need for duplication of services. This is why RTL was so mad, because they wanted to create the 145 but the AMT decided they had the right to take over and do it their way, only difference between this situation and that one is that the RTL didn't have an existing route already, and why would they have, the Bell Campus was what gave them the push to go for it.
M. David Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 Ha so it would doubly bad, since there is already an AMT 40, and an MRC-LM 40!40A 40B? Why not renumber one of them? Maybe the AMT should change the number to 140 or, borrowing from the express route they once ran for the STL, the 940?
SMS Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 Let me be precise right here, I meant exact duplication of services. I refuse to hear any of this RTL drivers union whining about a contract that they never got because what the AMT wanted to do was improve public transit in the A10 corridor by connecting different destinations with a new route which was not previously done. So if the AMT were to run an express from Radisson Stn via A40 to whereever exactly in Lanaudière, I am sure that this would be opposed big time. But I am on the AMT's side for the Express 10 and it's too bad that it is not in service, some people could have benefited from it big time. The RTL can create route 145 if they want to right now and run it on their own terms.
mtltransitguy Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 The RTL can create route 145 if they want to right now and run it on their own terms. Here's hoping.
kellergraham Posted September 10, 2008 Author Report Posted September 10, 2008 Ha so it would doubly bad, since there is already an AMT 40, and an MRC-LM 40!40A 40B? We would need to re-number about 243 of the 495 bus routes in the greater Montreal area then.......... Almost half of all bus numbers in the greater Montreal area are duplicates.
SMS Posted September 27, 2008 Report Posted September 27, 2008 Hi guys I bought some Vaudreuil bus tickets at LuLa before the big game at the Bell Centre tonight (we won! ehlalala)! They're pretty cool. Unfortunately I have a high serial number (U000447). I might scan it soon. They look nice. Different compared to the train tickets and a different kind of paper too. The ticket will resemble the AMT livery that they will have on the intercity buses.
kellergraham Posted December 10, 2008 Author Report Posted December 10, 2008 First major snow storm of the day was hell for the Express Vaudreuil 40. I was on the last initial* departure of the day (16:10) which was scheduled to arrive at Vaudreuil station at 16:50. Bumper to bumper traffic on highway 40 from Cote-Vertu to Vaudreuil meant we arrived at Vaudreuil at 17:45. After more than 15 cm of snow MTQ only decided to start plowing after rush hour had began but the damage was done. * By initial I mean the last bus that doesn't depart as a result of a previous arrival. Alex

Alex But you had a nice coach with heat and comfortable seats so that ride should have been very nice to handle.
kellergraham Posted December 20, 2008 Author Report Posted December 20, 2008 Even though they don't mention it outright, it appears as though the AMT is going "902" on the Express Vaudreuil 40. As of January 1st, CIT Presqu'Ile will be setting the fares and service levels on this route, so it will become like any other linear route to suburbia (this may be a good thing) http://www.amt.qc.ca/comm/affiche_avisaux.asp?no=688 They also mention something about CIT La Presqu'Ile will have its own fare media for this bus...

DAMN!!! BETTER GET AMT 40 TICKETS ASAP! Where do we get them!?! They better not try and run cutaways on this thing. Related, at least one Orleans bus regularly on this route, has no decals on the side. Also there was an AMT official on board watching the passengers, I have also seen this at the joke terminus outside Bonaventure, seriously that thing is awful. The only good thing, is that it makes it uncomfortable for the smokers, but that section of DLG is now smoke central.

I got my tickets at Lucien L'Allier Had to specify to the geniuses behind the counter that it was Vaudreuil BUS tickets, not train tickets. There's always an AMT official on board these buses. It's been like that since day 1. Alex

What a waste of money, the one I saw, was so board, even I would get bored riding like that all day.
