I just read on the AMT's website (http://www.amt.qc.ca/corpo/Appro/appel/appels_fiche.asp?fiche=DA08-0477-0555) that it will be the AMT and not CITPI that will operate the new Cote-Vertu / Vaudreuil bus shuttle. According to the preliminary schedule, three buses will be required for 30-minute service as follows:

Departures from Vaudreuil:

05:35 06:00 06:25 06:50 07:15 07:40 08:05 08:30 08:55 15:50 16:20 16:50 17:20 17:50 18:20

Departures from Cote-Vertu:

06:10 06:35 07:00 07:25 07:50 08:15 15:10 15:40 16:10 16:40 17:10 17:40 18:10 18:40 19:10

Estimated travel time 35-40 minutes. NO turnaround time at Cote-Vertu or Vaudreuil in the morning and at Vaudreuil in the evening.

Anyone want to speculate on the numbering of this bus? Will the AMT just take "91" as it's the next in the sequence or will they return to a nostalgic number with what would have been used in the time of the Metropolitan Provincial service (was it 23)?

I just saw that page too this morning. I don't think RTL is bidding for that route, I think their name appears there because they obtained documents about this tender.

There's also another tender for service between l'Ile-des-soeurs and the south-shore starting at the end of August. There would be three stops. Chevrier, Panama and Ile-des-soeurs and the route number should be 145. Many companies made bids but I hope RTL gets it. If they don't, RTL drivers and their union will be very mad. We don't want "sous-traitance" on our territory. I also think they should end this new route at a Métro station, maybe LaSalle.

I don't know how the RTL will win this, as the buses the AMT wants have to be in AMT colors with AMT logos and ads. It says this in the tender for the buses. I think the AMT will buy second hand buses or something like that.

Really!?! So this will actually be an AMT bus service, and not contracted out like all other Metropolitan expresses in the past were/are.

I doubt they'd go for secondhand buses. They (AMT) did ask for A/C and electronic sign, and they said it should be accessible to people with reduced mobility. (Page A.4 on tender)

I'm not sure about the second hand thing. The only time that would work is if the buses are under 5 years old.

Get ready for brand new suburban LFS guys...
Are you just guessing or is this confirmed?

Not so fast, don't rule out Coaches here.

It's a long enough ride from Vaudreuil to Saint-Laurent, and even suburban transit buses don't have the most comfortable seats.

If they do go LFS, for the love of god, TAKE THE REDESIGN!!!

Sure I'm speculating... but tell me what other choices that are realistically there. It would be a decent compromise to have a 2009 model (ie redesigned) suburban LFS with coach type seating.

Who wants to bet that the AMT express will be located at the STL terminal at Cote-Vertu? I can't see more buses crowding the STM terminal.

That also makes good sense.

I'd say it will be twinned with the 902, until recently an AMT service, and it won't interfere with the behemoth lines for the 151 and 144...quality STL service right there.

That's not what the contract states. AMT wants their own livery (as of 2010, if I'm not mistaken)

Alex

Hopefully it will be innovative and not boring or plain/with a lot of white.

Hope this will be a success and and that it paves the way for other such services, such as the long-promised "Via Bus de L'Est".

I wonder if the livery would look something like the commuter trains. I especially like the livery on the F59PHI locomotives :D

Yeah, it's not bad, at least it's "modern".

I expect it to be something like that, unless the AMT goes full out and develops a brand new daring livery.

They seem to shying away from their traditional "grey and blue" scheme, and heading for "Dark Blue and Yellow".

I just can't picture a locomotive or even buses going around in such bold and dark colours that the AMT has chosen for the signs at their Terminuses.

I personally am looking forward to this new route and I hope to try it on the first day (much as I wanted to try the modern CIT Roussillon - I have yet to do so), would anyone be interested in trying one of the first of the morning leaving Terminus Cote-Vertu?

VIA Bus de l'Est, if I'm not mistaken, was shelved in favor of the Train de l'Est Project.

BREAKING NEWS

AMT will launch the Cote-Vertu / Vaudreuil Express Metropolitain on September 2, 2008.

Highlights:

- 15 departures AM and PM

- Bus will have air conditioning, bathrooms and might in the future have Wi-Fi. They will also be fully accessible.

- TRAM 5 $133/month or a new pass (Express Zone 5 $95.50)* will be accepted.

- No word on single ticket use.

* The Montreal Metropolitan community must approve the new Express Zone 5 pass before it will be sold
