Random Photos - Calgary and Area

Recommended Posts

Saw this on an old Reddit post. The Calgary Transit System wiki page says 307 was an ex-CMR Ford, but I've seen what the Fords look like and that can't be right. The front end is too fussy and doesn't have a fishbowl windshield, so it can't a Flxette either. Somebody on the post suggested it might be an ex-Forest Lawn or Bowness bus from before annexation. Who made this bus?

Western Flyer, maybe? IIRC (since i haven't been on CPTDB regularly in years), these are potentially D700's from Western Flyer, before they came out with the more box-like D-800s & D-901s by the 1970s & 1980s (before the NFI rebrand in 1987).

Compare features to the D-800s.

More than likely a Western Flyer (or Flyer Industries) D-700 model bus.

One of the 6 Robin-Nodwell 1853 FCs 301-307, built in 1965 and used until 1970 on a downtown shuttle route. More on page 38 of Calgary Transit Then and Now, by Donald Bain, © BRMNA Publications, 1994.

Looking down at 6 Avenue SW from the Plus 15 between Brookfield Place and Bow Valley Square this afternoon. On the right, you can see some of the fences blocking access to 1 Street SW due. I assume this is due to continuing repairs after glass fell from Brookfield last month.

Here’s a few photos of 7938 down in that weird section of where the 13 serves by Galbraith Drive & 43 Street SW. Starting Monday, this stop as well as a few others around Glamorgan are being moved to accommodate the new seniors home being built around the area. Also got a photo of what one of the posterboards looked like indicating the change.

More on my last post … it's part of the city's budget consultations. Forum members might be interested in taking part. I'm sure talking to a bus stop ranks high on the list of things any transit enthusiast hopes to do in life! 😆

An initiative called "Talking City" will help you learn about City services in a unique way. Through automated text messages, citizens can talk with select light poles, bus stops, public art pieces, inclusive playgrounds, swimming pools and more. The personified City service will tell you an interesting fact about itself and invite you to share what's important to you about that service.
