I'd like to add discussion of the Ex-BC Transit - Victoria 1991 MCI Classics that have recently been added to the Red Arrow / Spruce Meadows fleet.

As noted in this thread at the following link: http://www.cptdb.ca/index.php?showtopic=12128 , Red Arrow has received the following Ex-Victoria 1991 MCI Classics to add to their fleet; 942, 943, 947, and 954.

Earlier today I decided to stop by the Red Arrow shops and found two of them renumbered into PWT's typical numbering system. I saw #3029 of which I am unsure of her Victoria fleet number and #3031 which I could see on her rear window the former Victoria fleet number of 943. Attached are a few images:

So yesterday I got a closer look at 3031 and can see that she is Ex-Victoria #947.<<That should read: So yesterday I got a closer look at 3029 and can see that she is Ex-Victoria #947.

Also, spotted either Ex-Victoria Classic #942 or 954 at a Southland yard numbered as 3924. I am thinking there is a fair chance that 3924 is Ex-942 as that unit had been previously seen at the same Southland yard for a few weeks now. I haven't even seen 954 in a few weeks now. Will keep a watch on those two to confirm their former identities.

Dropped by Southlands yard again today and found 3924 and 3925 parked there. Those two would be Ex-BC Transit - Victoria #'s 942 and 954. Which order they are is still yet to be determained. So I hope to find that out soon.

Will these buses be replacing the out dated ex calgary GMC Fishbowls?

I believe it has already been posted, but from what I heard, some of these MCI's are for expansion and they may possibly retire one or two of the Fishbowls.

After a quick chat with a contact at Southland Transportation, it sounds as though MCI Classic #'s 3924, 3925 are going to be used within the Southland fleet with the Thomas Transliners. I suspect a few more of those Thomas buses will be retired and scrapped as they have been nothing but trouble. But that kind of explains why those two Classics were numbered no where near the two that are parked at the Red Arrow shops and numbered 3029, 3031.

I was told by a Red Arrow supervisor that Spruce Meadows wants to do some corporate re-branding, meaning colors will change. Meaning that Red Arrow is not likely to go paint the buses into the livery that the Fishbowls are in just to have the livery changed in less then a year.

Not too sure about the Southland ones though. They didn't ever bother repainting the Thomas Transliners, GM RTS, GM Fishbowl 654 or Orion I 655 though.

Actually the RTS did get repainted before arriving at Southland. At least 1167 did for sure. And I am guessing 1166 was treated the same way.

Here's an image taken by R. Oldfield of 1167 in Ontario in 2004 which was very shortly before their arrival at Southland in Calgary.

Hmm my memory has been revived haha, I was somehow thinking they came in blue like the Thomas TL960's. Thank you though.

Spruce Meadows MCI 3031 running as a shuttle this morning, and possibly yesterday morning as well.... I did not get the number on that unit yesterday. They seem to be at Somerset around 0830-0900 in the morning.

Here is #3029 operating on a parking lot shuttle this afternoon. #3031 was also down there along with most of the Fishbowls.

Spotted one of the former BC transit classics (still in red livery) parked on 1st Street W today around 1335. I wonder what it was doing there?

These buses are available for charter as well when Spruce Meadows does not require them. So likely running some sort of charter.

Yep! I saw it too at about 1318 passing me on 5th Ave. at 2nd St. It was bus 3031 and it had a full load of passengers. Sure was odd to look in my left rear mirror to see a 'BC Transit' colored MCI Classic coming up behind me.

Also to note, 3029 was at a paint and body shop just east of 52th St. and 54th Ave. S.E. about 2.5 weeks ago. It was still there a week and a half ago as well, but I forgot to check to see if it was there last weekend. I had heard Spruce Meadows was going through a rebranding and that the buses would receive a new livery so I am guessing that 3029 may be the first to show up in this new livery. Just took a quick look on their main page of their website and I don't see anything different as of yet.

Here is a shot of #673. The one unit from Calgary Transit's batch of 1971 T6H-5305 New Looks with double rear exit doors. Originally Calgary Transit #651. Also the only Red Arrow-Spruce Meadows Fishbowl in this livery.
