Safeway Tours

I am not too familiar with their way of doing the runs/schedules but more than likely a single run would be up to 10 hours. Double runs does not pay the same as single. Example: a Single pays $180 and Double pays $230 difference of $50 in which case most drivers would not do the Double as they hope it would pay $180x2. Basically it's not worth it for the flat pay and the drivers rather just lay over for 5 hours than do a Double. This is the same senario being played out at AZ Bus.

does the $180 includes the tips from customers?

To clarify, Great Canadian, Pacific Western and the other operators will be doing the casino runs only while the tours are still going to be contracted to Coach Canada?

No, Coach Canada still does Casino Runs but only single runs and also does Outbound Charters. Great Canadian also does Casino Runs, mostly double runs and Outbound Charters. PW and GTA are both doing Casino Runs (probably double runs) but I don't know about Outbound Charters.

it looks like Great Canadian got at least one new coach for Safeway tour. It has the fleet number 12XX iirc.

I heard its up to 10 wrapped for Safeway. I will find out exactly how many next week.

I doubt GTA is doing outbound charter. They only have one bus with Safeway wrap!

There is specualtion that there maybe more on order but I'll find out in the coming weeks.

Spotted PW's 3045 with Safeway's name (in red) which has replced the "Pacific Western" graphics on all four sides. It's the same like the "Mary Morton Tours" Coach but in red font and still in gray metalic paint.

Yes, so far I've seen 1209 but there may be more.

I am hearing it's going down hill with Coach Canada because of the Double Run issues. More and More Great Canadian Buses are doing outbounds.

Great Canadian 1000 has a Volvo D13 engine and Volvo I-Shift Transmission, noticed that wiki is wrong with the Transmission. The 12xx (I believe) all have Volvo D13 engine and Allison Transmission. So far I am told that they have 8 buses in total and possibly one or two more are being delievered in a couple of weeks.

of the ones i have personally seen,

1201 is Red

1202 is White

1206 is Blue

all 3 were at my yard within the last week.....

Are you talking about Great Canadian?

Great Canadian Coaches are all Blue.

The white one is Coach Canada only.

Both Coach Canada and GTA Crew's are red.

PW is in Grey and red font colour.

  • 2 weeks later...

Those have become regular Coach Canada Coaches. Great Shots!

I have noticed some MCIs are plain white and slowly becoming regular Coach Canada Coaches. I think those are the 2011 models. Safeway requires the Coaches to be maximum 2-3 years old and then they demand for new Coaches.

There are several older Coach Canada Prevosts which are now owned by Star Coach Lines.

I wonder what kind of condition they were in when they were sold.

They are pretty good actually! I know another operator who bought about 3 (probably more) at $40,000 each. The driver I spoke to said they were bought last year and have not given any problems. Just needs the usual routine maintenance.
