the WEGO buses will be used on a special shuttle service between different parking lots and the Falls area next Friday for the Wallenda walk, after that they'll sit until the latest start date of August 20th.. also the NF capital budget for 2012 has approved one replacement 40' bus and one replacement Chair-a-van

so for June 15th, they will be out for the Wallenda walk only, until mid-August when the service starts. what about a shuttle from the terminal to the Falls?

the Falls Shuttle will be running in the interim, but it's been cut back to an 11pm finish for some dumb reason; the schedule is on the city website, and the iRide cards are valid on it

and on the subject of the replacement bus I can't see them going with anything other than Nova, it wouldn't make sense to train every person on the property for one Xcelsior( although I wouldn't mind seeing one in NFT colours)

could one of the Wiki editors edit the delivery date for 2195, NFT took possession of it on April 4, 2012; and also i just heard they will be upgrading the evening service for the Falls Shuttle starting this Friday( convenient timing) so that Friday/Saturday/Sunday it will run until 1am and Monday-Thursday it will run until 11:00pm, and starting June 29th and until the WEGO starts all Falls Shuttle lines will go until at least 7 days a week( Source: last night's Niagara Falls City Council meeting) ...look for the updated schedules on the city website anytime now

No thanks. I'd rather take my own photos and post them, unless I'm sent them from a contact. I have fixed the post on the Wiki about the delivery date. I just put "Delivered April 2012". I'll need to contact NFT for a fleet list for the WEGO units.

The Luminator signs on the WEGO Novas can be orange, silver or blue which is pretty cool.

Units out today were;

5304 - Green Line Shuttle

5201, 5205, 5207 and 5301 were on various Lot # Shuttles such as Zellers, Montrose and the old Walmart lot.

I got a ride on 5304, pretty nice ride, AA system and a TV monitor set up. These buses also have luggage racks

Do we know which fleet numbers are NFT buses and which are NPC, or is there no distinction made?

i dont think there's any distinction made.

some license info; 5201 - 125 7BH, 5205 - 128 6BH, 5207 - 128 8BH, 5301 - 129 3BH, 5304 - 129 6BH

All WEGO units have 4ONE Aries seats

could one of the wiki guys make an update to the retired list for NFT:

- 8159 was x-San Diego MTS 917, it retained the SD livery but the red stripe was painted blue like 8155,8156,8160 and 8173

-x-San Diego units 8174( SD 909) and 8175(SD 914) were the only ones that were repainted into the old NT striped livery

thanks

My memory might be wrong on this, but weren't 8174 and 8175 by way of St. Catharines Transit? I thought that was the reason that they were repainted because they arrived in St. Catharines colors. I will have to check with some other enthusiasts who keep better records than me.

I thought they were originally bought to help out with the Casino Niagara contract but shortly thereafter NT lost the contract and the buses were sold off. They did not last long at all for NT.

Checking my rosters they don't show as having operated for St.Catharines Transit. However I remember being told that St.Catharines had purchased quite a number of them and when their plans changed they ended up selling some to Niagara Transit.

I thought NT acquired three articulated GM buses (all from HSR I think) for Casino Niagara (the first casino?) contract for the purpose of shuttling employees then sent them elsewhere when the contract was lost? As far as I know, 8174 and 8175 were assigned to the Falls Shuttle or on the regular routes..

just wondering, will there be a period of time where both Orion IVs and new Novas running together? or the Orion IVs will be replaced overnight? Thank you

one of the NPC Novas went past the Blue Line I was on yesterday, the number decals aren't on them, but the paper in the front window of the one artic had the number 9004, so I'm assuming the NPC buses have different fleet numbers than the city-owned ones

How could you tell it was a NPC Nova?

Actually, Niagara Transit leased three GM artics directly from the Hamilton Street Railway, which at the time had excess buses due to service cutbacks. They were actually only in Niagara Falls for about 1.5 months when HSR's 9100 series Orion V CNG buses developed a problem with the CNG storage tanks. As a result, all 9100 series were pulled off the road until the problem was corrected and HSR cancelled the lease with Niagara Transit due to the resultant bus shortage.

the latest WEGO news is that the system will have a "soft launch" on August 20th, and also on the NF website under public notices and on the July 24th council meeting agenda there is info relating to the size and other elements of the new WEGO/NFT/ GO garage going out on Kalar Road with a scheduled completion date of 2014
