i now have more details on the new Novas;

full BRT roofline, frameless one piece windows, rear destination sign and they will have red/blue/sliver wavy stripes on the side.

also has an STM-like front door.

so far 5 have arrived; three 40-footers and two 60-footers

was in the same parking lot at the other 2 nova buses

yeah i know i forgot to add it lol. also as i left, it appeared the one Artic that already has the livery as well as another 40 footer were going out for a test drive but i'm not sure.

I am somewhat disappointed with this scheme, especially with the buses being used on the Falls Shuttle and the People Mover. You would have thought that they would have come up with a revised green (for parks) and blue (for water) paint scheme. That is why I like the new Niagara Transit colors so much.

The wave blue and red (almost) stripes remind me of the American flag and I think are totally inappropriate for the Canadian side of the falls (no offence to the Americans).

i havent been on this thread for a bit and funny story i drive by their lot today and saw those buses and i thought they were holding them for some american company... very disappointing

I don't like it either. That livery doesn't represent Niagara Falls well at all.

I'm very happy to see a system order the LFX with a wider rear doors even if it's just one! That BRT roofline also makes it look quite good but it's weird that the artic joint is not as high as the BRT roofline; most other BRT buses have that section in line with the BRT roof.

I quite liked the livery used on the rendering on page 4. It used the colours blue and green and was related to the NFT livery.

I completly agree i do hope NFT paints the artics into that scheme...that is a beautiful livery on that drawing it would be awesome to see it in real...and also the fact $10 pass for 2 consecutive days is convienent as well

as i was on the bus heading back to St.Catharines. saw another artic done up in the same livery, could not get a picture though

Oh my... I thought their Artics would look like their 40-footers... Oh well, I'll try my best to draw the LFX, if the livery really looks like this. :P

Today at about 3:15pm I saw on Ferry street at the Main/Ferry intersection a Nova articulated bus heading towards Lundys Lane. This bus was not painted in the Orange "american flag" livery but instead had blue and green on it. Seemed to have more white than the bus pictured on page 4 but may have been similar. Only saw it for about 5 seconds as it passed through the intersection and from a distance. Can't remimber what it looked like exactly as I only saw it a couple of seconds, but it definetly had blue and green on it. There looked like a few people where standing near the front of the bus as if some kind of training may have been going on. All the busses for the VRT are owned by Niagara Falls Transit but perhaps the green line that will be operated by the parks will have a deferent livery? Perhaps it was a bus owned by Nova bus that was in town training the parties involved? Maybe something all together deferent, all I know for certain is what I saw, a Nova arctic passing through Main/Ferry heading towards Lundy's Lane with blue and white on it.

the bus I saw from a distance at the NPC Chippawa garage last week had a similar livery; also and update on the deliveries- all 5 40-footers are in ( 3 outside, 2 inside) and 8 of 11 artics are parked outside( 2 in red/orange/grey livery, remainder all-white)... also the #10 Niagara Square bus will be detouring starting next Wednesday April 4th until further notice to avoid the construction in the area- eastbound the 10a and 10c will turn right on Franklin, left on Barker, right on Drummond, left on Culp, left on Main, left on Peer, left on Sylvia Place, left on Ferry, left on Main Street; all three 10a/10b/10c will travel outbound to Lundy's Lane via Main-Peer-Sylvia Place-Ferry-Lundy's Lane

I was poking around on NFT's website trying to figure out how to access the new NOTL Transit service from the Glendale campus. I came across their i-Ride pass which looks and sounds an awful lot like PRESTO. Why run a stand alone system if there's another one working its way through the region? I'm sure there will be the odd GO Transit passenger with a PRESTO card coming to Niagara Falls. Why not get on board with that program? Or are the two systems somehow integrated?

The i-Ride system probably pre-dates Presto. They aren't the only Ontario transit system with a non-Presto smartcard system - Kingston has one, and Burlington used to have one until Presto came along.
Ottawa was considering a multi-use smart card called the "O-Card" that would have been used not only for OC Transpo fares but parking fees, recreational services, library fees and more. When Presto was announced in the GTA, there was some pretty serious debate over whether Ottawa should go with Presto or continue with the O-Card. Eventually Presto won out for transit while the O-Card is in development for other services.
