dj.surf.lfs Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 Just started to get interested in motorcoach photography, so here's a photo of Beaver Bus Lines 99 (MCI J4500)
Board Admin A. Wong Posted January 27, 2008 Board Admin Report Posted January 27, 2008 Nice shot! Wonder if it is going to get any color...
BCT-3122-D800-10240 Posted March 5, 2008 Report Posted March 5, 2008 Recently found out that Beaver Bus Lines has now retired their two 1960 GM TDH-4517 #'s 28 & 29. Apparently #28 is being saved by a historical group in the Winnipeg area. I suppose these two buses were the longest last Fishbowls in Canada that were still used somewhat regularly! Retired at the age of 47. I believe Beaver Bus Lines #30 is still active and is a 1962 TDH-5301. 46 years old now and still going!
C2045 Posted March 26, 2008 Report Posted March 26, 2008 Saw Moose Mountain #96, (MCI J4500) in Victoria.
Wayne Doran Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 Where or in what service does Beaver Bus Lines operate this Fishbowl? They are mostly operated on private school runs for St. John's Ravenscourt school in Winnipeg as Beaver Bus Lines has the contract.
IRT_BMT_IND Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 Do they still use Fishbowls on the line between Selkirk and Winnepeg?
BCT-3122-D800-10240 Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 Do they still use Fishbowls on the line between Selkirk and Winnepeg? No. They are all used on the above mentioned school runs. The Selkirk Commuter is mainly held down by MCI Classics and a NFI D40 or two.
DavidW Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 Do they still use Fishbowls on the line between Selkirk and Winnepeg? No, the Winnipeg-Selkirk run is operated by Classics. The remaining GM fishbowls are used on the St. John Ravenscourt private school contract. Here is a photo of ex-Beaver #28 from Sunday, April 13, 2008. This bus is now in the hands of the Manitoba Transit Heritage Association.

DavidW Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 Nice! I see the rims are already repainted to original condition! We're working on it. The bus is operable now, but it needs frame work around the rear axle/engine mount in the long run. Typical GM sagging hips...

Typical GM sagging hips... Yes.... But its expected considering the age of the bus. remember how bad Beaver #48 (1987 D40) was sagging after refurbishing / rebuilding? But apparently everything was strong on it. It was like that right after it was refurbed. As you probably know, Beaver retired that bus sometime last year. It was still going in October 2006 when I was there.

The sag is on the list to be addressed, but the group is concentrating on other projects in the meantime.
YWGjets Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 Do they still use Fishbowls on the line between Selkirk and Winnepeg? The last time I recall seeing a fishbowl on the Selkirk run was the summer of 2004 using the purple bus (6771) in this photo: http://barp.ca/bus/laidlaw/glvict/6771.jpg shortly after Beaver acquired it, still painted purple with flowers. Does anyone recall any more recent times when fishbowls have been used for Selkirk?
Jacob Posted June 30, 2008 Report Posted June 30, 2008 Do they still use Fishbowls on the line between Selkirk and Winnepeg? The purple bus and the teal bus in this photo were both sold to Beaver Bus Lines and became #44 and #40 respectively. I drove #40 for the 2006-2007 school year as a SJR school bus. In the summer of 2006 #40 was used several times as a spare bus on the Selkirk run. In that summer and through the school year #44 was occasionally used as a spare on the Selkirk run, though it was mostly a spare on the school run. Both of them were sometimes used for charters as well. Both busses had several years previously been repainted in Beaver Bus Lines GM colors (all but one of the GM's were the same color of light brownish-yellow. #38 was white like the former Selkirk bus colors). They were both beautifull busses and a pleaseure to drive. #40 had an 8-71 Deroit and no other bus could come near it in power, take off or highway speed. Not even the coaches. I believe the rest of the transit buses we had were all 6-71's. #44 was donated by Beaver Bus Lines to a bible camp in Southern Manitoba (Might be Roseau River Bible Camp... I can't remember for sure) I quit there when I moved away from Winnipeg last September. At that time #40 had been made a spare school bus for the 2007-2008 school year. I love that bus. Hope that answers some of your questions. Jacob Blondahl
BCT-3122-D800-10240 Posted June 30, 2008 Report Posted June 30, 2008 Jacob Blondahl I think I met you when I visited Beaver Bus Lines in October 2006 along with two of my friends! I seem to remember chatting with the operator who regularly drove #40 at that time! :-)

mtltransitguy Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 Could someone please post an updated fleet roster?
BCT-3122-D800-10240 Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 Apparently Beaver Bus Lines only has one Fishbowl left in service and is serving as a spare unit in Beaver's fleet. Check out the video and comments in the following link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEXpXWShu2o
transit boy Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 is there any new MCI classic in i seen one number 58 dose anyone have an inside shot of bus 48
BCT-3122-D800-10240 Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 Didn't catch a fleet number, but I spotted what looked to me like a brand new H3-45 for Moose Mountain in downtown Calgary early this morning as I headed back to the garage from my run. White based with a bit of red splash or wavy stripe of some sort.
