Great! 30 more busse is just enough to kill of the fishbowls! Still not sure why we bought three from Edmonton... ^_^

Abit offtopic, but how are Regina's replacement plans for the "new look" GM's? Is it fair to say we're the only city's in Western Canada running them in significant numbers?

Edmonton and Calgary both run more. Strathcona, for a fleet of its size, runs a large amount.

It just occured to me, maybe I should start a separate topic with the above tally and simply maintain/update is as new info/dates come in? All the discussion could still occur on this page, as otherwise the first post will be lost and forgotten about. Thus if there's only one post that's being constantly updated, that won't be an issue.

TDH-4516, tell me when I should stop tracing the 9500/9700 series, as I honestly don't care for them.

PS. You sure are taking that 733 D40 far. So many of them running in Winnipeg if you want your fix...

Wednesday and Thursday adventures:

-I rode 0808 on the 6. It is blue, as will the rest of this purchase, most likely. The back doors on these 08's seem to need neurosurgeons to open them. You need to "push and pull at the same time, with both hands" the driver instructed a women who was trying to get off.

-Speaking of doors, the guy driving the 14 was a total jerk. It would be nice if I didn't have to push my way out of the back door of a Classic with an armload of groceries. The front door sometimes works better and faster. But no, he refused to let me out, despite the fact that if he'd just opened the doors and let me off, he could have been gone in seconds. But no, he had to make some sort of statement. If the new buses have doors that don't work, everyone is going to start using the front doors to get off. What is that driver going to do then?

-The Orion I that is sitting in North Industrial is not ex-Winnipeg. The orange bit isn't a check mark. It is a stripe, so ex-Moose Jaw?

Tell me when I should stop tracing the 9500/9700 series, as I honestly don't care for them.

I am not a huge fan of them either, but I just want to see if all 17 of those are still around. If possible, once we have got all 17 of them traced, we can probably end the tracing of them. I appreciate that.

My spottings of these two series are as follows: #9503, 9505, 9506, 9507, 9509, 9702, 9703, & 9707. So I guess I am looking to see if #'s 9501, 9502, 9504, 9508 (Though I think I saw that one), 9701, 9704, & 9706. No need to post the others now that I know they are still around. Thanks again and it is much appreciated.

I know they are, but the ones in Saskatoon were rare and hard to find. The Saskatoon ones are actually different than the Winnipeg ones as well with their T-drive configuration with Detroit Diesel 6V92TA and Allison HTB-748 transmission. Winnipeg's are V drive configuration with 6V92TA and Allison V731/VR731 (Of course, their 1987's are Detroit 6V71N and Allison V731)

No problem, this makes it much easier for me, then trying to catch them all. I've added the numbers as a fictional contact on my cell, so that they could be looked up easily. I record all the fishbowls I see through the cell incidentally.

I'm also not going to be posting sightings of the new NFI's, once they have been posted on this thread already. So far #801, 803-808 have been spotted.

Makes sense to me. UNles a series is being retired and we want to keep track of which ones are still around, its good to post them until their last day at least... Then we can track when it was last seen before being retired. I only asked about those early D40LF's because of a rumour from a Saskatoon Bus operator that not many 9500's were still around so I thought I should check into those and the 9700's as well.

According to the capital budget, $6.4 million was allocated for bus replacement/refurbishment for 2008: 16 new vehicles @ $400,000 a piece. So there should be an 0816 kicking around somewhere.

I finally saw 9704, however he was being towed by a city tow truck (6-axle heavy duty) to Place Riel. I guess he wanted to finish his shift, likely Route #3 or 4. Didn't get the Route # as I was heading home on 615. Something wrong with that NFI, the lights kept blowing out in the back...

Big update! 732 is still alive! I was on Route 14 today - Quite a route... Two routes in one really (I got lost). Great for convicts, get out of jail@60th street, dozen stops later get your car@impound yard. Those who remember Randy and Mr. Lahey in the MCI Classic after getting out of jail on the Trailer park boys will appreciate this.

Anyway, 732 was sitting at the body repair shop, surrounded by a pair of MCI's and Jimmy's.

I was going home by bus as usual when I look outside the window and see this! At first I though it was that ex-MJ Orion heading to the dump, nope! What looks like a brand new NFI ambulance parked at the Center Mall . I thought only old fihbowls were converted for this duty... After pics were taken I jumped on the next bus and headed home. Gotta love rush hour!

Any info on this thing is appreciated. I didn't feel like rotating (too much work) although maybe I should have.

Looks more like a command/rehab type unit
