neoartic7101
at least it wasn't an RTS.... No, It should have been a DDOT TRS. They are supercrap. I seen older RTS's in better shape than Detroit's. They take poor care of their fleet, the worst fleet in America.

They take poor care of their fleet, the worst fleet in America. Their NFs aren't much better, you realize... I have photos from back in the day when a Series 03 DDOT RTS went up in flames. Need to dig those out...
OC Transpo 8238
DDOT 3856 (RTS) was involved in a serious collision tonight, a black SUV cut off the bus and it swerved to avoid it, but in the process the operator lost control of the bus and it drove into the corner of a building. The operator was taken to hospital with serious injuries, 13 passengers were also transported to hospital.

Nabinut
Just google Detroit DOT and you will find several articles that cite the state of the system including having 224 of 445 buses out of service due to an standoff between management and mechanics as well as the possibility of making the system private if the mayor can't provide the system with general funding. I would link it but i'm not at my computer right now.

tomsbuspage
What are the two green light on the front and back used for? Hoodlum lights. They were first ordered on the 1996/1997 Nova RTS order, numbered 3500–3599: D-DOT Roster - Retired Fleet Boston also uses green emergency lights on the front and back, while New York's are orange and on the front only. Tom1122
Detroit has recently gotten funding for a light rail line along Woodward Avenue. Maybe they can lease The Detroit PCC from the Michigan Transit Museum since they aren't using it.

TheAverageJoe
So what I want to know is: why wasn't the sprinkler system working? Its DDOT does that answer your question they have way too many problems just making service with many bus NIS in the shop for work. Im not shocked the sprinkler didnt work. But congrats to the workers in the garage for moving most of the buses out of the garage before the fire spreaded in that one barn.

Yeah, but that's a pretty basic thing. I'm aware of their current situation. I guess my hat goes off to the ddot employees who risked life and limb to save a few insured machines?
