Could it have been deadheading from Finch to Sheppard West to start service on the 105?

Looking at the tracking data that's exactly what it was doing. It finished service on 88 at Finch and deadheaded to Sheppard West Station to do 105. Looks like this is a scheduled block as 509 did the same thing on Tuesday and 801 today.

TTC

1062 and 1083 were helping out on the 506C shuttle today. I took 1083 and customers were all very confused with all the detours, poor driver had a constant crowd of at least 5 people at the front asking for directions. Also overheard some Eglinton relief driver at Castle Frank complaining to a Birchmount driver about the detours, citing the tight right turns and left turns that take ages to do with no priority arrow.

8689 was on the 94.

It's impossible to turn the scheduled route when additional detours are added to the route. The Carlton/Church detour was suppose to finish. I don't know what kind of animal brain at the TTC thought this route is okay to push out the door as the people taking it doesn't have other options. The route gets a F- for impossible to use and extensive queuing at turning intersections. They should just tell everyone to take streetcars on Dundas instead.

Oh the sign that STILL says 506C to Ossington via Ossington. No comment...

I spotted quite a few buses signed incorrectly as 504C to Exhibition via Strachan too.

I was masochistic enough to take almost the entire route from Parliament/Carlton to Ossington station and the whole thing took 65 minutes, while walking that is 70 minutes according to Google maps. I got on around 14:50 and off around 15:55, so not even at the height of rush hour. It was also very busy, suggesting a large gap with the previous bus. I suggested to a few passengers to give up on the bus and walk because it's likely faster, looks like that is indeed the case.

Edit: just spotted 1001 on the 506C, so I won't post these sightings here if they happen daily.

The only time Yonge st. riders will get the handmedown experience ?

In recent times, sure, but not historically. The 97 was out of New Eglinton until 2008, and when that opened it had all kinds of hand me downs from various divisions, including Old Eglinton. And if you want to go further back, most of the H5s ran out of Greenwood (5722/24*-5807) (5722-5724 were frequently tossed back and forth between Wilson and Greenwood) until the late 80s/early 90s when the H6s displaced them. And about a decade before that, all the H1s were consolidated at Wilson, on the opening of the Spadina line.

I was primarily referring to the present day line 1 and how it got both the T1s & TRs first, lol. This'll likely change when the next subways come out, though, since they'll probably go on line 2. And that still wouldn't really make the TRs handmedowns, since they wouldn't be handed down.

The 8100/8300s are pretty much handmedowns now without being handed down.

The 8100s were originally split between Birchmount & Wilson iirc, and are now consolidated at Wilson, while the 8300s are confined to Wilson their whole life since day 1. So in this case the only handmedowns are the ex-Birchmount units, the rest are in the same situation as the TRs probably will be.

The 7900s were originally from Wilson and ran on the 97 when they were new.

True, but according to some on here, a 7900 is the textbook definition of a handmedown:P

The 8100-8219 order was all delivered to Wilson when new. Sometime in 2014-2015, they were split up and Birchmount received a good number of them
