Sounds like a crew on the 8 is unsigned, if it's regularly being filled by RAD buses. Since it's a 1-bus route, it would be a high priority to be filled.

I'm wondering the same. It seems upto 6pm its all fine. But the late relief crew doesn't seem filled..... or could be shortage due to covid proof of vaccine for drivers. 

 

On Wednesday, again the regular bus ran in and bus 1102 took over at 6pm and around 9pm bus 1065 took over the route

The 8 seems low priority if you ask me. Only a handful of stops won't be served if the bus is missing. Most would probably walk to to closes N/S bus stop or the 87 for more frequent service. This route would be on the chopping board if they are doing deep cuts, especially late hours.

Actually the bus has never been chopped. The have made service cuts in the past, like late evening service, but people complained and eventually it was brought back, even till 1:20am now. Before the cut to late evening service the bus ended around midnight.

Wouldn't the opposite be true? No one is going to notice or care if a bus drops out from a major line along Eglinton or Lawrence Avenues, but if you lose the only bus on a line, that is going to have massive negative impacts on the people who have no other option but to utilize said line.

If that bus only carries 5 riders per trip on O'Connor but a bus on Eglinton or Lawrence carries 30-50 riders during late evening. A 20 minute gap on those major route would inconvenient more rider than a missing bus on the 8.

The routes with 1-2 buses will always get priority over the ones with 10 or more buses, customers will never accept no buses on a route they need and would complain, that is the reason why even though (almost no one) takes routes like the 30, it will still have priority rad over other routes like 45, etc

In the worst case scenario, though, another bus will come along eventually. The massive gap will suck, of course, but it's Toronto - they're used to it (or should be). There won't be another 8 coming along unless someone fills the trip, and while a walk may not be a problem for those who are able-bodied, those with mobility challenges may struggle, especially in the winter.

If the above speculation is correct, and there's a crew that is not filled, then that means they will know what time every single day there will be a gap in coverage. When you can predict the future with 100% accuracy, there's really no excuse for not arranging for another bus to take over.

Well, it's happening again. 3187 left Broadview Station five minutes before 4:00, with 8636 running west at 4:00. And according to Transsee, 8636 is about 11 minutes behind its schedule. If he hustles.

Im seeing bunch of non-Queensway fleet on some of the routes

1350 on 46

1396 on 15

1012 on 123D

Today is not the only day I see some of hybrid buses on the route.. So Queensway might be short on buses or drivers right?

At 9 3187 went back to the division and 1075 took over the 8 Broadview for the rest of the night

All the crews are signed before spareboard.  Maybe the operator who signed the crew is on long term absent.

Tues was odd on the 8 Broadview.  Original bus ran in, and 3751 took over ( first time an electric bus on the route.) That bus broke down and 8386 took over (was taken of the 504)  for a few hours and then 1123 took over the the rest of the night.  Odd- 4 different buses on this 1 bus route on Tuesday.
