Today's Special Sightings

Recommended Posts

Remember, same standards as the previous Special sightings thread!

Important! 2153 is back! It was seen on 132 Milner on 2006-08-21

Just a quickie:

Ok, I've managed to keep quiet for all these time you've posted (mainly because the old "Today's Sighting" was too vague in its definition) but now since dyip_90 was kind enough to start a whole new thread specifying only special sightings, I thought I'll teach you what it means by Special Sightings. My examples only include TTC but you'll get a general picture of the message I'm trying to get through.

Any series of buses that are due for mass retirement currently but were seen running (eg. D901, Newlook non 22-24xx, Orion VI) and not Classics! When the time comes for Classics to be mass retired with "mass" being the operative word, then start posting them. Because Classics are currently the next on the line to be retired thus it's not their time in the spotlight yet.

Any non accessible buses on accessible routes (eg. Classic on 16, D40-89 on 129 lol) and not Classic on 91.

Any accessible buses on non accessible routes excluding Eglinton routes (eg. 96 Orion V on 129, RTS on 41) and not Orion VII on 25.

Any buses operating outside their usual routes (eg. Orion VII on 192, D40-88 on 20, YRT buses in Mississauga, DRT buses in Hamilton lol).

Wrapped buses (Mike can fill you in there).

New buses (eg. 1000 or 7900 sightings).

Retired buses (eg. Mike Boone's favorite statement "92xx at Wilson's deadline).

Accidents (eg. Newlook has crashed into a light pole "god I love that statement", Orion VII 74xx has an engine fire, 70xx broke down).

Repainted or rebuilt buses (eg. the 94xx series or some D901s repainted).

And anything that's out of the ordinary and doesn't fit into those categories(eg. Luminator Horizon sign on a 664x bus, smaller font for bus xxxx).

That's all I can think of right now but it not only includes buses, any GTA transit vehicles fitting into those categories are welcome too (eg. H5 on BD line, GO Train 20x blew up).

And maybe because you're new and don't really know what are special and non special sightings are, that I can understand.

On my bike ride, I spotted 3 MTA New York City movie buses located in a parking lot on Cherry Street. I don't know where exactly, but it's located along the Waterfront-Martin Goodman Trail.

There's also one that's completely chopped up, with just the front remaining.

Later on in my bike ride, I went past the Orion plant (didn't even know I was going to pass it) and saw TTC 7655 parked in the front. An MTA Hybrid 7 was inthe back, which I guess is no biggie.

2273 is on 71 Runnymede right now it should be out until 1am or later. 2273 also has a new coat of paint and most of the interior lights were off at 10pm.

Brian 8/21/06 9:51PM

Thats suprising!

That has got to be a safety hazard!

David Vincent 8/21/06 10:48PM

2273 was indeed Runnymede/Swansea, it then later did that crew's Bar-Run on the 300 Bloor-Danforth. WB from Broadview Stn. to East Mall.

A rare chance to see a GM out on the 300.

It was an open piece of work filled out by an Arrow bus and operator.

75xx was out on 26 Dupont during the late evening. Presumably a change off from Arrow.

Interesting, two Queensway Vs back at Bmout and two Birchmount VIIs (7815, 7819) are at Eglinton.

Anyways, I rode 7974 on 32C yesterday and 7902 was right behind us on 32B.

I think this may be special since it is summer today at 5:30pm I heard a H4 entering Runnymede Station. I also spotted lots of special constables downtown today. I saw two at Union and two at Shoppers drug mart in the eaton center and another two on Yonge street.

seeing a h4 is not special, they are still running in the summer.

BTW 2153 is still active, it was on 132 yesterday! and 2057 is sitting in Malvern with a stopsign paper on the front of it!

The dreaded DO NOT MOVE this bus sign.....usually for when a bus is about to be rebuilt.. or in this case, retired.

Not sure if is this a special sighting...........(Hey I'm a Vancouverite! :) ) Anyway, I've seen a fishbowl (couldn't really catch the exact number, I THINK it's 2923) heading Westbound on Finch as a 39 around 10:30pm tonight.

David

Actually thats an Accessible violation if you saw a Fishbowl on 39 and there is no fishbowl numbered 2923.

alright then it's 2329 I think.........play around with that group of digits :P

Good to see an accessible violation, I'd much prefer an old-fashion fishie to pull up at my stop! :)
