This weekend, the Lakeshore West line is running hourly between Union and Oakville, with rail replacements west of Oakville. Buses aren't stopping at Bronte and Appleby, like previous weekends. And Niagara trains are only running to Aldershot.

Buses are running on 4 branches of the 18 as train replacement service:

  • 18E - running between Oakville and West Harbour, also stopping at the Hamilton GO Centre
  • 18P - running between Oakville and Aldershot
  • 18Y - running express between Oakville and Burlington
  • 18Z - running express between Oakville and Aldershot

Since connecting bus routes don't have their schedules changed, the 15 in the eastbound direction has connections up to 55 minutes with the 18 at Aldershot. Funnily enough, it means that the fastest way from Brantford to Union is to go via Hamilton and take the 16, or to go via Pearson Airport and take UP Express.

I'm not sure why the 15 wouldn't be extended to Oakville to allow a connection with the train since that's the only reason it goes to Aldershot, but it's not very surprising and is completely par for the course. Like initially this board period, the first westbound trip left Aldershot 4 minutes before the 18 from Union was supposed to be there. And it was only last weekend when they finally had that 15 to leave after the 18 arrived.

So far this week on the Lakeshore East line, the 15:20 train from Union and the 16:40 train from Oshawa has been cancelled for track inspections.

On the Stouffville and Barrie lines, some trips have also been cancelled and replaced by bus service. Today for the Stouffville line, the 14:12 train from Union and the 15:34 train from Mount Joy have been cancelled, and on the Barrie line the 12:54 train from Union and the 15:04 train from Aurora have been cancelled as well.

Additionally on the Kitchener line, the 15:22 train from Bramalea today isn't stopping at Etobicoke North due to track conditions.

I had reached out to Metrolinx asking why there is no longer a priority for Kerr Street crossing to be given a grade seperation. Here is the response I was given.

Hi Nicholas. We determined that GO Expansion’s proposed service levels can be achieved with the Kerr Street crossing continuing to operate safely as a level crossing, with additional safety enhancements. Because of that we deferred the proposed Kerr Street grade separation project in 2022. We are planning to implement enhanced safety measures at the existing Kerr Street level crossing by eliminating vehicle queuing over the rail crossing through traffic control signalling, and will continue to monitor the crossing to ensure it can operate safely and effectively with future service level increases.

Visual Sighting
4001 was spotted doing a test run leaving Finch GO Bus Terminal this evening with a broken tracker.

Are you sure the tracker was broken? May not have been signed in. 4000 is still kicking around somewhere as well.

4000 wasn't wrapped either.

I did see 4001 at Square One on a layover when I was driving on the 403 earlier.

Kind of a random question, but do any GO transit bilevel cars still have the older all-blue seats on them? Or have they all since been refurbished to have the metrolinx green seats on them

Tons of the pre Series V (pre 21st century) cars have them that haven't gone through with the 2nd rebuild (23xx and 24xx) and the post 21st century cars that were delivered with blue seats that haven't got through any rebuilds (27xx, later 25xx and later 26xx).

Sorry, for some clarity, I meant like these ones:

I think the cars you mentioned all have seats like this:

If memory serves, the last cars with these seats were the Series IIs, which are all out of service now.

Yes I meant the 2nd pic seats.

I've never seen the 1st pic seats in my life.
I always thought they transitioned from leatherette seats of the 1st gen cars of the 90s (pre rebuild) straight to the 2nd pic type seats.
Learnt something new today. lol

Found this reddit post from earlier this year claiming that car 2538 still has those seats.

Personally i miss the old blue vinyl seats that the oldest cars had. I found those were the most comfortable and also seemed like they would be easier to clean. I wish they just kept using those seats on the newer cars.

I sat in one of those on a Kitchener Line train back in March

Are they? Wiki shows they are part of the current roster.

They should all be OOS and queued up for refurbishing, except for the cab cars, which are approaching 2 years post refurbishing without having run in service.

Ohh, I thought you meant they had been retired.

Uganda seems to like the "T in a circle" symbol for their minibuses:

How much did Metrolinx really piss away reinventing the wheel... I guarantee they didn't pay what we did.

They chose the “T in a circle” exactly because it’s so prevalent around the world that it would be almost universally recognized.  They had settled on a T and had workshopped the design of it.
