Can someone correct me if I’m wrong but once the LSE extension to Bomanville opens that would be the first passenger service east of Agincourt Yard on the Belleville sub since the mid-1960’s I think

Other than a couple of meters around Smiths Falls, it will be the first scheduled service, yes.

CN and VIA passenger trains have used the Belleville Sub for detours, however.

Question about the BiLevels: what is the purpose of this wall/divider right next to the row of 3 seats under the stairs, and why don't all the BiLevels have it?

I was always under the impression it was just a design modification done between different models. 2060 being series 1 and 2129 series 2

It's used to store some of the required on-board emergency equipment.

On other cars, it's stored elsewhere.

This structure drew into my curiosity for along time ever since it was constructed. I know many other rail systems in the world has something similar.

The question is, what is this structure used for in the railway? I'm talking about the concrete steel beam thingy on sits on top of the railway that spans the width of the corridor.

In many cases, it is either a retaining structure for the embankments surrounding a railway, though it appears one side is free-standing - suggesting it is also for noise abatement. Happy to be proven wrong.

Edit: Nope, both sides are retaining walls. Cross-members would make the needed structure on both sides slightly less bulky.

The soil conditions there were such that the retaining walls would have needed far more strength, and thus been much bulkier. Because they couldn't be built closer to each other - that would reduce the amount of room for the tracks - the additional material would have been built out, and which would have required even more property.

This was felt to be an more elegant solution, but still allow for sufficient strength.

They must be getting ready to expand all or most of their rail services if these older cab cars are getting a complete rebuild. I had thought they were just going to be rebuilt into passenger only coaches.

I believe 242-250 are going to just become Coaches. I am not sure, but I asked a couple friends at GO.

As part of electrification, they want to move to more, smaller trainsets.

Unless they work at Head Office in Equipment, it's only hearsay. I have lots of friends at Metrolinx - including a couple higher-ups in varying places at Head Office, both within Operations and Planning - and none of them have any idea what the actual plan for the cab cars is anymore.

If they run the trains, they DEFINITELY have no idea.

I spotted an Enviro 500 at MCI in Montréal today. It's grey/black on the rear but the sides and front are in GO livery (hard to tell from the photo, more visible from the other side on the highway).

I'm not sure if it's a demo or something?
