To follow up on that question, does anyone know what is meant by "Repainted in the two-tone Metrolinx livery in (date)" that is given in the notes section for all the 2014 Series VIII BiLevels? As far as I am aware, those cars came from the factory in the Metrolinx colours. https://cptdb.ca/wiki/index.php/GO_Transit_Series_VIII_Bilevel_cars

GTAmissions1
Go Transit is planning to do a trial for plastic dividers on 5 Go Trains and 30 buses this summer. This is along with way finding signage for designated exit/entry doors along with floor markings for which direction to head in. To prevent face to face contact with other passengers. On-board trains: The area around the customer service ambassador is blocked off except for people with disabilities needing assistance. Along with shields around transit operators. https://blog.metrolinx.com/2020/07/02/metrolinx-testing-new-on-board-safety-measures-to-help-protect-go-transit-customers/ 1
T3G
So what's going to happen when a passenger in the window seat needs to exit the aisle, and pass by the passenger sitting next to them?

That's a good question. In a perfect world that'd be avoided by having only one seat out of each pair occupied but that would imply loading buses and train cars to only 50% capacity at maximum. Going from there, the questions that raises, generally speaking, for Go, TTC, any mass transit system, is what happens to the whole long standing premise that you just pack passengers in like sardines in rush hours twice a day? Go one way on it, masks or not, there's the health risks.Go the other way on it, there's the implications for service levels that would have to be run to mitigate crowding and the financial risks with knock on for fare and subsidy policies that go with it.
Wayside Observer
Citing provincial advice, Metrolinx won’t make masks mandatory on GO Transit despite new city rules This is an interesting difference of opinion between agencies. It'll be interesting to see if Go moves on that.

The risk increases with prolong exposure, not because you're within contact of an infected person for 1 second. Everyone wearing masks doesn't mean you'll be 100% safe. Germs for an infected person would end up on their hands, presto card, wallet, clothes and belongings. There's a slight chance it ends up on handles, bars, presto card reader, etc. each carrying their own percentage of risk. All those risks add up to your exposure rate. Now the question is how good is the ventilation system in filtering out the germs in the air, especially when A/C is on and circulating the air again and again. Back in the Before Times I would see people who chewed on their nails then grabbing a hold of stanchions. I made it a practice to wash my hands with soap and water after I got off the Queen car, or in fact any bus. Also I would try to grasp stanchions where I figure others are less likely to grab them. Or not grab them at all. This goes double these days.

I don't think those buses are going to go anywhere. They pulled all the 81 series double decks off the road. They also have not added any new SuperLo's yet either. It's still up to 8521. Gil
Anecdotally from what I've heard from other riders, aside from the Lakeshore lines, with less crowding on rush hour trains would GO consider allowing bikes on board trains during rush hour? I've also had the chance to ride the double-deckers with the physical distancing barriers. It looks like they also took out a row in the bottom level and redistributed the seats for more space. GTAmissions1
Masks will be mandatory starting this upcoming Tuesday on Go Transit and Union Pearson Express. If the passenger doesn't have a mask/face covering, they are to not be turned away. Especially if someone finishes work in Toronto and heading home, don't have to leave them stranded figuring out an alternative. https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2020/07/17/masks-will-be-mandatory-on-go-transit-vehicles-starting-tuesday.html

I've been taking GO a few times this month and most have been wearing masks except a few which the driver has tried to say something.

Ed T.
1 minute ago, GO Transit Fan said: Okay, the why don't I speak about the GO ALRT first? The GO ALRT would've ceased operations for the "Hamilton-Oshawa" in 2019 since the capacity in the Lakeshore line trains have increased. Line 2 would stay and the western extension of Line 5 wouldn't be needed, so would not the Etobicoke LRT. Unfortunately, politicians worry about the TTC more than GO Transit without wondering that GO Transit can develop rapid transit in the GTHA, TTC can only help Toronto, Missisauga and South York Region. This is just random words. GO ALRT was deemed infeasible and that was that. The bastard child of GO ALRT, the ICTS, made the Scarborough RT an orphan line that no one (other than Bombardier lobbyists) want to extend. Since the vast majority of ridership in the GTHA is on the TTC, it makes sense if rapid transit is focused on where the ridership is. You are also conflating regional transit with urban rapid transit. They are not the same thing.
